This movie is one of those that had a lot of church groups taking trips to see it. C.H. Lewis’s (guy who wrote these books) faith was most likely inspired by his close friendship with the Lord of the Rings’s author J.R.R. Tolkien, so like in the LotR trilogy/books, there are a lot of analogies back to Biblical stories and historical events - biggest example is how Aslan is a shadow of Jesus Christ (one of the names for Jesus is the roaring lion, Aslan sacrifices himself in place of Edmund - a traitor - just as Christ died on the cross to atone for humanity’s sins, then he comes back to life, like how Christ rose on the third day, and the stone table split down the middle, just like how the curtain over the temple in Jerusalem tore in half the moment Jesus died).
Also, Edmund is such an interesting character to me now that I’m deeper in my Christian faith and study of the word. He’s thought of as a traitor by everyone on the good side - and by every set precedent he is - but Aslan, I.e. God/Jesus, is only concerned with bringing him home, not what has been done. This is how it should be, always. I won’t go into a deep, philosophical discussion about it here, however that’s what the good book says about us, too, and how we should treat those that come to Christ seeking forgiveness/coming back seeking forgiveness. People may turn from you/shun you, but Jesus don’t. That’s why analogies in movies like these are so striking and powerful, and have a lasting effect on the media that come after it for generations.

Ellie's reactions to Aslan's sacrifice and return to life are everything! It's beautiful to see someone get so attached to the King Above All High Kings in Narnia, and to realize in the end that there was a reason for him to die. He had a plan.
And yes, Turkish Delight is indeed what you call 'lokum'! A company called J.S. Fry & Sons created a chocolate-covered version of it in 1914, and marketed it in the U.K. Late in World War II, food rationing became very severe in England, and it probably became very hard to obtain sweets or other non-staple foods. So by that time, Turkish Delight would have been a real luxury to Edmund.
Thanks so much for reacting to this movie!

So one fact about the Turkish Delights is that they are actually enchanted, so they literally act like a drug on Edmund. That's why he goes to the Witch and gives her information in exchange for more candy, he is not a traitor just because he *wants* to, but because of the irrational *need* he has for more of them.
I really wish they had added that information into the movies so we wouldn't misunderstand Edmund so much.

The good part is Disney did not write the story. This was written by CS Lewis. There was an animated version of this story a while back. I remember seeing it as a kid during the 80s and was thrilled to see it was being made into a live movie. I was not disappointed in it. The other thing to note is there are a lot of parallels to Christianity. If you read the Bible, or just knoe some of the stories about Jesus, in particular the parts about the sacrifice he did for the sinners of the world. He died on the cross (the Crucifixion) having committed no crimes himself for the crimes of others. (Good Friday). Then on Easter Morning the Resurrection of Jesus. A lot of parallels between the stories.
Also, there are 2 more movies continuing thr adventures in Narnia. Check them out as well.

It's very faithful to the book, and while it doesn't have much budget, it is absolutely full of heart. Plus, they did the next three books (with more or less editing for time) in the series. If you wonder why Professor Kirk was so curious about the magical land in the wardrobe and he explains to Lucy in the credits scene that he tried to go into Narnia (after the kids told him about Narnia), it's because he was the main character in the book The Magician's Nephew, where he gets to Narnia along with his mad uncle who's a magician creating some magical rings that can take you to other worlds. Before Digory (that's Professor Kirk's first name) and his friend Polly get to Narnia, they get to the world where Jadis the White Witch resided and had destroyed it, as she tries to take the magical rings, she gets dragged into our world in Victorian London (late 19:th century) where she have a fight with the police using her whip. In the fight she grabs a gas lamp with the whip and uses it against the policemen but then she gets dragged along with Digory, Polly and the Uncle to an empty world where they see it being created when a lion roars (which is Aslan, of course), thus Narnia was born with all creatures and plants appearing. To protect the newly inhabitanted world (a couple of other humans is also dragged into what became Narnia, they become the first humans there) Aslan ask Digory to get a magical apple from a garden that The White Witch just have taken over, which he succeeds and the apple tree that bloms from it protect Narnia from Jadis and Digory gets one of the apples from that tree as a reward, which he gives to his mother who is sick (probably from cancer, he same sickness as author C.S. Lewis own mother had, unfortunately she passed away when he was a boy). Afterward he burried the seeds from the applecore in their garden along with his uncle's magic rings (he becomes really insane in Narnia and is trapped there for the rest of his life), which grows into a beautiful tree. Sometime during Digory's adult life, the tree gets hit by lightning one stormy night and he makes a wardrobe out of its remains, becoming that very wardrobe that the Pevensies get into Narnia in the future.
About the gas lamp, as mentioned earlier The White Witch ripped one out during the fight against the police and when she got dragged into the world that would become Narnia, a fragment of that lamp got sucked with her and landed on the ground, which eventually grew into a gas lamp, the same one that Lucy finds .

The father in the setting is the Emperor Beyond the Sea with Aslan being the Jesus allegory in the books.
Also the books do have a lot of really racist BS in them, there is a good reason Horse and His Boy will never be adapted to film.

We need the three of them to react together to the second and third films as well, in each of them Aslan's true identity is more unmasked, they are wonderful and very beautiful films, they really make you feel like a child again.

I love this film bc of the creatures & how they presented the creature. I’m a Greek Mythology fan & that led me to like shows such as Xena & anything Hercules.
My fav mythological creatures are Centaurs & I love how they’re presented in this film. I also love mermaids, griffin/gryphons, satyrs/fauns, etc.
The next film is my fav of the series. Hopefully you’ll get to see why.

Ginarkbrik is played by Kiran Shah, who is most famous for being the scale double for Frodo, Merry (in the scenes where Merry and Pippin are on their own) and Bilbo in The Lord of the Rings and reprised Bilbo in The Hobbit trilogy plus played a bruning kid in the prologue of An Unexpected Journey (he's a stuntman as well), the small Goblin in Goblin Town sequence and the Goblin Scribe and Thain in the Extended Version of Desolation of Smaug.

So glad you could share this fabulous story with your fans. This is one of my favorite books and movies. Your responses were absolutely precious. BTW, are you, the Homies, aware that you are stunningly beautiful. You often wear little or no makeup and still you put Hollywood's glamour girls with all their makeup to shame. I'm well past 70, grew up on Miami Beach and have seen my fair share of beautiful women. The only ones more beautiful in my eyes were my first wife who died very young (23 years married) and my current wife even after 3 children and 24 years of marriage. ❤ all your reactions.

Some information about the saga, if it is going to be included in the other movies and series that Netflix will release.
C.S. Lewis was a great friend of Tolkien (writer of the Lord of the Rings) and part of the fact that the works are similar is because the writer was inspired by what Tolkien did and even he recommended writing fantasy.
The Narnia saga is designed to a certain extent to evangelize its readers, the entire saga has references to God and the Bible. The sacrifice of Aslan and his resurrection is a clear reference to Jesus, his sacrifice for man and betrayal, as well as his resurrection and thus is full of references throughout the saga to the Bible.
The reason why Santa Claus appears is because at Christmas in a certain way the birth of Jesus is celebrated, and Santa's arrival also announces in history the return of the lion who is god or Jesus and I could follow him, but I think They already got an idea.

Here's a little tip even tho it's too late to make it into this video: there's a little mid-credits scene... in case you want to show that when you do the Prince Caspian reaction.
This seems much deeper than most Disney movies because it's not really a Disney movie. I don't know if they eventually bought it, but initially, they just distributed it. This and the other two movies that were made are based on books, so there is a lot more material for them to draw from. They stopped at three movies because so many people were angry with the movies because they were expecting them to be exactly like the books, but that's just a fact of making movies. When going from book to movie, there will always be something lost or changed because movies, by their nature, are shorter than books. I loved all three movies and I think you'd like the others as well.

  • @joepike1972
    @joepike1972 9 месяцев назад

The reason it was more deep is because it was from a series of book before it was made into the present movie. The author was friends with the man who wrote lord of the wrings and Alice in Wonderland.

This movie is based on a series of books. Actually, the lion, the witch and the wardrobe is not the first book of the series. I think is the third one. The professor went to Narnia before when he was younger and he built this wardrobe from woods he took while he was in Narnia. That’s why they can go through from there.

If you guys would like a treat, you should seek out the animated version of "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe" that aired on CBS in two parts in 1979.
IMO, I enjoyed more than the live action version.
My brother and I watched it (I was 11 at the time) in the kid's TV room upstairs that had a TV and about 10 small bean bag chairs in it.
    Great times.

C.S. Lewis studied classics at Oxford, while his best friend and fellow Inkling J.R.R. Tolkien studied language. This is why Narnia is a land of talking animals and creatures from Greco-Roman mythology. It's also why there's a lot of religious allegory.

The Chronicles of Narnia was written about 70 years ago, there about 6 books in the series, The lion the witch and the wardrobe was the first. C.S Lewis was a great English writer who lived about the same time as J.R.R Tolkien (Lord of the Rings) The Lion King was written yesterday, Disney had nothing to with the writing of these books, they just brought them, like they do everything else..
