    Curious, you mention worrying about being run over by cars. The problem here in France are Bikes, which are everywhere and all the incivility that goes with them. Basically pedestrians are

    • @RozierRoma
      @RozierRoma  3 месяца назад

      While there are bikes and scooters in Rome there are not really that many. Maybe because the roads cobblestone and bumpy. I mentioned cars because many Italians drive very aggressively. Cars, scooter and bikes seem to have the right-away.

      The best advise is to travel to Italy in the low season when hotels are over hael off and if you are traveling in high season book very early for best deals. One option is to base your trip from Tivoli just outside of Rome. Hotels and Airbnb from 70 euros plus a great city and you can take the train into Rome when you want. Also try rooms for rent on Airbnb you might find a decent deal.

    Another great video! We will look at this area. What you are missing is gelato 🍧 in relation to this area 😊 my wife loves it and where we were last year had the really good covered gelato so now we are spoiled. Maybe a video of best gelatarias in Rome?

    • @RozierRoma
      @RozierRoma  Год назад +1

      Italians have gelato down, and Romans are no exception. These days it is so hard to taste the difference between one gelato and the next. Now it’s become more about the presentation and experience that differentiates one Gelateria from the next. I did not mention any Gialateria specifically in Trastevere but there are plenty. My wife has her favorite too called Giolitti located a little north of the pantheon. sometimes when we’re in the area we have to walk over there just to get her favorite gelato but I personally don’t see a big difference.

    • @ArcheryGeek

    I'm told by different sources that Testaccio is where many of the very best restaurants are located, where the locals like to frequent. Trestevere is more tourist oriented. I spent my final day of my first trip to Rome exploring that neighborhood and was somewhat underwhelmed. Too many fellow Americans and it was graffitiland! Wish I had picked Monti instead.

    • @RozierRoma
      @RozierRoma  9 месяцев назад

      Lots of graffiti for sure. I spent the past 2 months in Trastevere {November and December} At that time of year not too many tourists but the restaurants are filled with Romans. Trastevere is much more walker friendly streets than Testacio. Both have great food options, For me I prefer Trastevere. It is better connected to other areas as well.

    • @RozierRoma
      @RozierRoma  Год назад +1

      Some of my earlier videos are not the best. I am still learning but they are getting better. I am very familiar with Frascati. I had an apartment there for a cope of months earlier this year. The train runs every hour into Rome costs about 2 euros and takes about 30 minutes. It is a fun place to base from if you have a car as you can explore they all the towns around there but parking is a major pain and driving is a bit stressful. If you do not have a car give Trastevere a try. The early mornings before 10am and the evenings in Rome are not too crowded and awesome even in peak season. If you are in Frascati you will miss those. If you are there during off peak season the city is much more manageable. If in Rome for multiple days, escape a day trip to Frascati or Spoleto. Just my thoughts. I hope you have.a great trip.

    I know picking up a few Italian words and phrases would be beneficial, but do most restaurants have English speaking waiters/waitresses? Do you order in Italian?

      In Rome, especially in the city center everybody that deals with the public speaks enough English to get by just fine don’t worry

    Found this really useful with so many great tips all round. We stayed near Termini in August. It was fine, but we felt we were missing out a bit on Rome. Will definitely consider Trastevere for a future visit, as well as watching any more videos you do.

    Great video. I am looking for a hotel in Rome right now. Thinking if Trastevere is safe enough for walking at night for 2 females. Thanks

      Trastevere is very safe even very late at night. It is a very fun area and the nightlife goes well past midnight. Seriously almost no crime. I would feel very comfortable having my daughters stay there.

    We love to walk but not all the time. Any thoughts on staying closer to the Metro, such as around the Colosseum? Spanish Steps? Circo Massimo?

    • @RozierRoma
      @RozierRoma  9 месяцев назад +1

      Of those three the best would be in the Monti neighborhood near the Colosseum They have two metro stations that service the neighborhood. The streets are very fun to walk-through interesting and lots of restaurants and stores. I’m working on a video soon about Monti but that’s where I would stay if I wanted to be near the metro. The neighborhood is awesome.

      Hey...I am visiting that area during first week of January ... How's the night life at Trastevere? Are you finding it easy to communicate to touristic points?

      Not a problem at all many people speak english. Night life in Trastevere goes well into the morning every night especially on the weekend. Plenty happening here.
