- This was the first time going to the state game for the whole squad. We barely knew each other and we came in as underdogs but prevailed to become state champs!
Jesuit alumni class of 2003…My older cousin played on this team. Lmao! Wow! This is crazy
I just watched a podcast where Corey Saffold who played at Morningside during this same year said that the Documentary they did, Hardwood Dreams(which got remade into the ESPN 30 for 30 Morningside 5) said that Crenshaw was one of the schools in LA they were scouting for it. I wonder why they didn't choose 'Shaw seeing as they were national known for basketball and actually won the title unlike Morningside that year. Coach West must've told them no.
Just found this video... I was in the Jesuit student section in Oakland that day (and I attended the '94 game as a recent alum). I think a bunch of us were feeling bitter on the drive back to Sac after that game. But now as I look back with the hindsight of age and time, I do recognize and respect the fact that Crenshaw was a solid team with a lot of talent. Coach West - already a living legend with several state titles under his belt - put an exclamation mark on his legacy with those four championships in the '90s.
Thank you I appreciate it! It was a classic game and know when I talk to Chris and Isaac we always talk about it and how close of a game it was. That was my first year under Willie and I looked at him as a legend as well, I was going to their games as kid to watch John Williams in the 80’s..Thank you for sharing your thoughts it’s nostalgic ✔️💪🏿💯😎
@Trefeezy Well thank you for uploading this game! Even though Jesuit came out second-best, that 92-93 Marauder squad was a team to remember. We only lost twice that year, to two eventual state champions and their legendary HS coaches: to you guys and Coach West, and earlier in a tourney to St. Anthony's of New Jersey, and Coach Bob Hurley (whose reputation I had heard about as a kid in NJ, before my family moved to Sac).
This is amazing! I was a junior and comfortably sitting at the end of the bench. I was hoping we would redeem our horrible shooting that year and win in '94. I'm still waiting on my alma mater to hang some new banners next to ours in 93-94.
Wow that’s awesome! And I like the word “comfortably”😅. I’m sure this game took you back down memory lane when we were once youngsters. Yes the two best teams in Cali back to back years had to play each other. I remember in 93’ I believe both teams struggle trying to find a rhythm but both years were super competitive and griddy. Jesuit still good but not like the teams you were on. I see the banners in there when I ref Jesuit games💪🏿. Thanks for sharing bro🤟🏿
Yes, THAT GIO CARMAZZI was in the house! Wow, I forgot about this game and how good Jesuit was that year.
Yessir great game!! I had a new level of respect for Jesuit💪🏿…and I live in Sacramento now just miles away from Jesuit lol
@@Trefeezy Yep Jesuit has so much potential to be a powerhouse in football and hoops, , but in the Sacramento region public schools are as dominant as private schools.
@@marcvslicinivscrassvs7536 yes exactly! Great program both ways! I ref’d couple of Jesuit Bball games these past years and they still recruit top talent like Jared McCain even though he played his last year of hs ball in SoCal lol..Sac has been my hometown for over 20 years and I enjoy watching and refn hs Bball here!😎
Wow Another Classic!
Thanks bro bro !!🙏🏿🤟🏿all day LA style!! #shawball💯💯
