I’d understood it the other way round though. For double tailed it is alpha/2. So say for alpha = 0.1: - double tailed value is 1.96 (because 0.1/2 = 0.05 on either tails) - Single tailed value is 1.645

Frr alpha = 0.05, Z=1.96 for two tails and Z=1.645 for one tail.
