My daughter was ruthlessly bullied from 7th grade through 10th grade. She became a cutter and suicidal. She fought to get through this time. With the help of me, her dad, her brother and our family. She lost a lot of so called friend during this time. She had a few that stuck by her and still calls them friends 13 years later. As a mom I felt helpless to help her. Nothing was done about this bullying through school - no teachers stepped in neither did school administration. She refused to quit and came out stronger for it. ❤

@@ericclayton6287 The old way is the best way. Government or educators cant fix what is a failing in certain types of humans. You teach your kids they have a duty to look out for others being abused, and if they are being abused you do everything to make them strong, or maybe pay the bully a visit yourself. Some people only will respect force, its unfortunate, but reality. If your kid gets in trouble from the stupid zero tolerance policies schools use that only punishes the victims and those trying to stop bullying the school cant or wont prevent you reward them. I had ice cream every day I was suspended for protecting a classmate a few times. That helped make me a very protective man in later life. I almost lost a job when I reported what I saw as abuse bordering on sexual assault because management told me to ignore it and go back to work. They didnt like it when I told them if I walked out that door the guys responsible were leaving in an ambulance and we'll let the lawyers sort it out later. It helped that kid out though in the end, and I'll never forget the look on his face when he found out what I did.
Make better people for the planet, not more laws that do nothing. Make and be people that arent going to leave it to someone else.

Such a touching song. Liked it when Mark first did it, now with Home Free it is even more of a heart felt song. His daughter is so pretty. Mark wrote this for her.
    Your reaction is spot on.
This needs to be on the radio 24/7. Maybe a few more would be touched by it.

Mark didn’t write it for her. He recorded it for her but Allen Shamblin and Steve Seskin co-wrote it. Allen Shamblin came up with the idea after his daughter came home from school and said her peers were teasing her cause she had freckles.

Have watched countless reactors experience the message of this video. Emotions have run the gamut with some sobbing uncontrollably to others expressing extreme rage. This has inspired countless painful stories. Such a pervasive problem... it needs to be addressed 24/7/365 but do applaud Home Free and Mark Wills for raising awareness. If not already mentioned, the young woman in the blue dress is Mark's daughter. The young man, featured in the video, is the CEO of '21 Pineapples' (he wears some of his 'pineapple' shirts in the video.)

A beautiful collaboration. Mark Wills is a great singer. And then my favorite group Home Free in the background sounds fabulous. A beautiful song and video with a sad subject and important message.
I know what bullying is. Not by children, but by the teachers.
I never told my family and thought I could handle it all. Now I am almost 59 years old, and only 2 years ago did I find out what bullying has determined my life.
It's so good that it's getting attention. Because bullying has to end. Think about what you're doing to someone like that.

Thank you Michael. This song makes me cry everytime no matter how many times I see it. I was that little fat kid who cried myself to sleep. I'm am an adult now and a more manageable world approved size but in the weirdest way being treated cruelly made me learn kindness. I have always been kind to people no matter what they looked like and have tried to stand up for those who need it. At least try to. The little girl touched me too as she was signing the whole song. She and Chris (the young boy) both have downs syndrome also and October is not only anti bully awareness month but also Downs Syndrome awareness month so they hit the mark with this big-time. And I love how when he gave the other boys lunches they were taken aback. Kill with kindness and I hope they grew up a little that day. Loved what you said and yeah HF has got me more than once too. ✌🏻&❤️

since when has the world gotten any better at body shaming!!? it happens all the time in the workforce. when people go in for an interview all things being equal except for one being thin and the other being overweight by society's standards the thin one will get the job. they may even get the job if they are less qualified, if they are seen publically. Children are still being teased horrible for being too thin, being too fat, too tall/short, woman are constantly being critized about their breasts being too big/small and not being perky enough and lets not even get started on our bums! If a woman wears her hear too short she is automatically a dike, if she wears something too revealing by society's standards she's a ho, Body shaming is more agressive than it ever was and ever has been! The only thing now is that people tell us that it isn't right to do it, which is a start. But it's still there and it's still happening. it's very much like discrimination. We know it's bad, but it's still happening. Not many people just want to turn a blind eye to it and pretend it isn't a thing now.

Home Free proves once again, they are on the right side of a very sensitive societal issue, they've fought racism (Everybody Walkin' this Land), fought for Women's Rights (Lonely Girls World), against cultural racism (So Long Dixie) and suicide prevention (One Voice) & in the song People featuring Jeffrey East they used a gay couple in one of the vignettes told in that story....these men are confident and don't care who they offend in the face of sending the right message, the message of love & inclusion, and using their platform to do it. It's probably come at the expense of more popularity (the number of RUclips views are down substantially), but they have fought the good fight in their small way and waged a courageous war against some of our country's worst cultural nightmares. They have done it through their music & craft, which they love, and told folks were they stand on issues, without bludgeoning folks over the head with it. This is one reason I love this group so much....they stand for what is right & good, and besides that, their harmonies are the DAMN BEST in the business......sorry PTX.

I was the nerdy girl that felt more comfortable talking to the teacher than kids my own age. School was a torment, despite the fact that I loved learning. I still don't believe people when they try to be my friend because of how often girls would pretend to be my friend in school only to publicly humiliate me later in the day. I am 50 years old and I still have trouble accepting gestures of friendship without wondering about ulterior motives. Relational bullying - more common among girls - has lifelong effects.

Not physically, but mental abuse and had others coerced into treating me the same way.I got through it with support from my husband. Home Free has a special way of getting our eyes to water, don’t they? This is a beautiful song, and it was a great rendition, especially with the young man and girl doing ASL. I was the overweight, musical nerd (played piano for all the school choirs - we even recorded a couple of vinyl albums), and smart kid who graduated near the top of my class. I was also nice, and friendly to everyone. I was also bullied unmercifully. It was hard, obviously. However, by the time I got to High School I honest-to-Jesus figured out in my head that it was all THEIR problems - it really didn't have anything at all to do with me. Once I figured that out, things got way better. When I had my own kids, many years later, I taught them to always be a friend and kind to everyone - no matter what. Stand up to bullies for others, seak out and sit with the kids eating alone at lunch, in short- be the kind of person God wants us to be. God love 'em, it worked! They are the ones, when I was driving them around to sports games, etc., that made me stop for anyone sitting on a curb or looking like they needed help. You don't know how many times we went to fast food places, or even grocery stores, and bought food for people. Long story short, all of this - good or bad - starts at home. There are a lot of kids growing up without a good home life, or any responsible, loving adult to care about them. We, as a society, need to take the small steps necessary to reach out and become that help, if at all possible. Bullies are just kids/people crying out and hurting.

I was bullied by kids I went to school with since kindergarten. All because I was nice and friends with everyone. Then the “popular” kids turned on me. I promised myself that when I had children I would raise them to be strong and kind and always stick up for the kid being bullied. The pretty lady at the end was Mark's daughter. This is a great song and was a big hit for Mark many years ago.

This song remake got to a LOT of people, most all of whom felt very emotional about it. Some who watched were "guilty" of being the bully in school, laughing at the misfortune of others. Some regret it now, I'm sure, while a few may not at all. But, this remake did EXACTLY what it was intended to do; hit heart strings, put the focus directly on bullying, making it so much harder for the bullies to get away with their crimes. Bullies, as you know, are usually emotionally weak people who usually hang in gangs for support, but very seldom act alone, as they are basically cowards at heart. Schools need to pay FAR more attention to bullying! Good reaction, as usual.

Don't let it be your last Mark Wills... there's plenty
    Jacob's ladder and
    Wish you were here
Is where you cam start... but be very careful with wish you were here... it will "get" you...

I was that bullied kid, from kindergarten through 10th grade when I was forced to switch high schools because the bullying had turned into sexual harassment and the school system in the town I lived in refused to do anything other than facilitate me leaving because apparently I was easier to deal with than multiple male students. To this day (I’m in my 50s) I still deal with trust issues and trauma left over from that. This song speaks to so many people and I wish it spoke to more so more would be done to manage kids who bully and kids who are bullied. Thanks for the reaction Micheal!

The video made me shed tears when I first saw it, I protected kids from being bullied in the 90's. I was the popular sports kid, and had an older brother who bullied me. Love is there, here, everywhere. Bless you all.

I am 65 and I was bullied starting in 2nd grade. I remember still and I have low self esteem still. The bullies probably don't care enough to remember but I do. Oh I can say books became my best friends.

Bullying wouldn't be the issue it is if educational administration would actually do their damn jobs.
Here is one of my stories. I had a bully from 1st through 3rd grade ( i was held back in 1st for a 2nd time because I didn't pay attention/was mature enough to sit still only to find out halfway through 3rd grade I had severe ADHD) My mom went to the school and requested for me to be transferred to a different teacher, they denied her and said some stuff about 'its just kids being kids" my mom got home, sat me down and said " the school isn't going to do anything about it, and I work, so it is on you. I know you were taught not to be violent... but, the next time you and him get into it, you pounce on him and thump him, thump him untill the teacher pulls you off him" Queue a few days later and my bully starts on his BS; so I did what my mom said to do. It took 2 teachers to pull me off and they called my mom and was going to suspend. well, my mom was having *none* of that. SHe said "he did what you were too chicken to do and now its settled and over with, if he ever gets so much as a timeout at recess, i'll be back" Then she took me home. That was and still is the single most badass moment I have ever witnessed of my mom.

This hit me hard. Brought back so many hard feelings. This song was and is me. I was always overweight. We were pentacostal so only dresses. I was the one in the corner of the playground trying to make myself as small as I could so they didn't notice me. I dreaded going to school. Then I dreaded coming home. Abused in both places. My dad was a mechanic and he told me to never fall asleep in back seat if car with my nose by the crack that lead into the trunk. Told me fumes would kill me. At 10 I didn't want to be here anymore so that's what I did. They found me in time. To this day I'm not social and don't have any friends.

My 12 year old is autistic. He is bullied ruthlessly. Everyone be sure that we are teaching our children ,no matter their age, kindness. One day my boy asked his father if he'd take him to the Dr. His dad asked him what was wrong? He said he wanted the Dr to take away his autism so that the other kids would be nice to him and he could ve normal. We cried as he had to explain there was no cure, no medicine. But that he was perfectly fine how he was. It was how God made him. That the people who needed help was his bullies not him.

I also did not know anti-bullying had a month until this came out last October. We need to fund out why the child is being a bully. Help them so they stop, I hope. Thanks Micheal for being so honest. I appreciate it ☮️
