Looking at us in comparison to the rest of life on earth, we are 100x, 1000x larger than most lifeforms on this planet. Given the vast possibilities on all those different planets..the size of their planet and star, gravity etc..who knows how they may appear. There could be aliens with craft the size of a ladybug zooming around and observing our planet and we'd never notice. It’s all very well in putting together scientific and mathematical models based around visible light and how fast it travels and so on but this way of thinking appears to be quite arrogant, I realise alien visitation is a fringe science if you can call it a science as no one properly uses science to prove or disprove alien visitation but your conversation here completely ignores this element of the topic, it could be theorised that not seeing them has nothing to do with light or expansion on our side but they could purposefully be hiding from us or have technology that keeps them hidden or in very simple terms, we have not developed enough as a race and in our technology to see what’s right in front of us. The universe is teeming with life. In fact the universe is synonymous with life. Technological civilizations, nother story. Eschewing the garden maybe a human failing.
There is an object that is headed toward earth that is moving faster than anything natural . Very large. Colonial ships move sunlight speed. Smaller ships can move toward a location in space time quicker than larger scale objects using a technology.

This made me think, if you could travel faster than light, how much faster than light could you go? 2x, 4x, 10x? Lets say you can warp space-time into a bubble around your space ship, and you can move that bubble faster than light. Is there a limit to the speed? Lets say grabby aliens form in 1 in 1 million galaxies. Lets say they can move faster than light. How many years would it take to travel to another galaxy? Lets say they go 10x the speed of light. The closest galaxy is 25,000 light years. That means it would take them 2500 years to go from one galaxy to the next. They could only do this in a generational ship, and perhaps would have to genetically engineer themselves to consume less energy to even withstand such a journey, considering the lack of resources in inter-galactic space. So how long would it take them to travel 1 million galaxies? 2.5 billion years.
I also envision another type of alien. Not a "grabby" kind, but a nomadic kind that lives in space, on giant space ships or space stations that orbit stars and draw their energy from the stars. They don't need to send this energy back to a planet to power a civilization, because they are nomadic. Their civilization is contained within each individual mothership. So perhaps these types of aliens would not create such visible mega structures as they would have a smaller footprint as a nomadic form. Also, perhaps a nomadic type species would not be as war-like, and would have a greater chance to make it past the great filter.

It’s all very well in putting together scientific and mathematical models based around visible light and how fast it travels and so on but this way of thinking appears to be quite arrogant, I realise alien visitation is a fringe science if you can call it a science as no one properly uses science to prove or disprove alien visitation but your conversation here completely ignores this element of the topic, it could be theorised that not seeing them has nothing to do with light or expansion on our side but they could purposefully be hiding from us or have technology that keeps them hidden or in very simple terms, we have not developed enough as a race and in our technology to see what’s right in front of us. I wish for once the scientific community would investigate properly, not just theorise based on assumptive knowns in physics but actually perform practical investigations to ascertain what this phenomenon is.

You would think that by the laws of probability this should have happened by now, by "accident". In terms of this universe, this galaxy has been fully explored and mapped for trillions of years. Earth is of little importance, as is life here, a bit like a small island in the pacific ocean that no one gives a stuff about. And no there isn't any race of beings coming to save us, if we blow ourselves up, no one is going to loose any sleep over it. I can tell you that.
