It’s a story. Not historically accurate.

Good job on your review of this song. My grandpa always called my grandma squaw. He ment it with love. He was 100% Native So don't make the word a curse Don't be offended for people who aren't offended by their own language. You are right this is one of the best Elton John songs Thank you for your insights

Elton is a master story teller, Bernie is a master writer of songs. Together almost perfect.

Thank you so very much. I believe I asked about a year and a half ago for you to cover this song. It was off the album and Madman Across the Water and I believe at the time it was titled Indian Sunset but I’m 78 I could be wrong about the title. Again, thank you so much. As a Indigenous Alaskan this song hit me so hard when I first heard it so many decades ago.

It is Indian Sunset. This is the second time I’ve heard a reactionist refer to it as “Summer”.

In song writing as in book writing there can be fiction and non-fiction.

Trail of Tears was when Andrew Jackson was President mid-1800’s

I would have loved a separate video discussing the lyrics of the song, not packed into a reaction video. It's a little weird as well fact checking it all because it's clearly isn't written to be 100% accurate, it's a homage to 'the demise of the Native American Red Indian' as John said, so definitely late 1800s.

    I'm just confused in Choctaw.
We named Oklahoma because the militia marched our tribe from the Mississippi area to that: area.

I live in newfoundland canada. We had one black kid in highschool. We called girls squwa. Sometimes we think things are segregated to our own experience but thats just ignorant. Its an offensive word that was applied to women, not just black women.

Unfortunately, this reaction is not up to your normal standards. This ain't about the Iroquois. This ain't about the Trail of Tears. This is late 1870's to mid 1880's.. The time that saw the sunset on the nomadic native culture.Your Geronimo observation is correct.

Maybe the most absurd reaction video I have ever seen. They are using poetic license. Fact checking the lyrics seems misplaced given the exceptional performance by EJ and Ray Cooper.

Additionally, his “fact checks” are wildly misguided…

Native Americans of pretty much all tribes ran enemies through a gauntlet, before the white man was knnown to them.
Just about everything west of the great lakes was prairies, many places west of the appalachians was also considered to be prairies.

Fortunately, you have a President who has people around him who have dropped the illegal entry at the border by 70% to date and are continuing to work on the border problem.
Meanwhile the MAGA cult offers nothing in the way of remedy.

I am so impressed with your knowledge of Native American history. Here are 2 songs I think you may enjoy. The first on is Trail of Tears ruclips.net/video/oT7B6m8fKKA/видео.html and the second one is Geronimo ruclips.net/video/9BT1iJDX0YE/видео.html. Both songs are performed by the storytelling Billy Ray Cyrus. I hope you give them a listen.
