I love how she keeps saying God. Be inspired by God. Have God surprise me. There are far too many musicians in church that are leaving how Who they are playing for in their preparation and approach. Kudos to you.
Great vid. I heard lots of inspired references. A little Falling Slowly around the 10:40 mark. I tend to consume a lot of movie underscoring for inspiration. The big thing that I think is important to remember is to keep it REALLY simple. You don't necessarily want to play something so recognizable (if it's not a worship song that supports the moment), that it pulls people out of the moment. Like, probably not a good idea to riff on the Jurassic Park theme in the middle of ministry moments.
As a jazz musician that's also a worship keys player, I'm always looking for ways to fit quotes into my playing. I realized a few months ago that one of the common riffs from a song we play is very similar to the theme from the kid's show "Bluey"... Waiting for that to pop up again on the list so I can quote it
More demos at 18:30 was one of Eric Satie Gymnopedies, I think? Will have to give that a go in the next prayer time. Nothing like a bit of proper music in the worship set!
Excellent video! Thank you Joy for your heart of worship. It all begins with our intimate time with Jesus as we worship one on one. Then we can bring that overflow to the service. Gracias!
When I try to do this, everyone else continues to play. Worship leaders need to instruct the musicians when to play and when to stop. And if someone is playing thru a verse (no melody line) they need to listen to the music and find the right place to come in with the vocals. When I led worship we would practice this so we didn't get caught by surprise. But all in all, this is a great video.
Would love to know what Riff you use for "Build my Life" intro. Be stoked if it's the same one I use. I use the melody notes of the bridge. Is that what you do? 🎶🎹

Thank you!! This is so helpful and I love how you let God inspire you during your personal worship times as you practice. Such great advice 😊
David, I love your new look 😍

I was trying to figure out what it was! Thank you! I knew it sounded familiar. I literally have the music on my piano. I feel like a ding dong.

Hi can I ask what is the patch used in the intro of this video? It sounds real good
Hi, you can see the patch settings from the intro at 20:36. It's called Dreaming of Together inside Sunday Keys.
Thank you so much!
Do you have any thoughts on what type of pad or synth could play under an acoustic guitar for the altar call?
*This question is extremely vague.*
We would recommend starting out with a Warm Pad, if you are using Sunday Keys there is a folder inside Patch Builder with Warm Pads you can try out.
Who’s that girl? Who’s that girl?
