Being a super fan of The Roots, this makes so much sense.
They both share the same energy, always talkin bout not selling yo soul to the industry…

This album changed my life. I was in a bad place back in '99, since then I've broken out and made a life for myself and my loved ones. Listening to music that didn't speak about the superficial things, helps clear the way for real thoughts. Love this album and thanks to the Roots.

Big L is probably my favorite, Danger zone and the big picture are such dope albums. It's like an onslaught of punchlines. He has a song with Tupac and another with Jay z at his prime. He was on another level. Nas is ight. However, aside from illmatic his other albums are ehh. Kinda like eminem, after his SSLP and MMLP it was all down hill from there. Rakim deserves respect, after paid in full dropped it literally did change hip hop and added complexity. Dudes like pun, krs one, wu tang(nearly any member) MF DOOM, etc outshine him
