We’ve definitely lost something with these new style of boats. Don’t get me wrong, it’s exciting and the technology is amazing. But wouldn’t it be wonderful if we had a class dedicated to these boats, still modern just classic.

    Nice seeing history of AC!
Why blady aussies since winning later, since decades no more having a team?
Kiwis anyways forever but aussies should be able getting a team build up?

Two questions/observations watching this-noting hindsite and blimp views are always 20/20 :-)
1/ In tacking duels, the boats often tack when still leeward even when on starboard tack when they could cross and gas the boat behind-(?shifts)
2/ Always wondered why Kookaburo didn't try to better gas Stars and Stripes on the downward legs by going a bit windward and blanketing them vs trying to rely on boat speed and catch them.
Clearly, crappy old boat dinghy sailing is a different game 🙂

Thanks, for posting the race. Announcers got excited at the start that Australia got the slight lead. Stars and Stripes: hold my jib.

Sails can make a huge difference. People don't give sailmakers the credit they deserve! You can see a big difference, between the two. One thing you can't practice for, is the spectator fleet wake. Racing in confused seas is no joke.

Wonderful sailing! Please upload 1995 if possible - I would love to watch that the whole way through.
