    I use the smaller Live version and love it. In larger venues, I plug it into a PA and use the amp as a monitor. In smaller venues it works just fine, especially the harmonies. I agree though that you don’t want to overdrive it.

    I have the BOSS Singer Pro, & have had it for about 2 years now. I have used it both for indoor & outdoor venues. It performs quite adequately for the purpose I need it for. I simply plug in my mic & guitar, & I'm good to go. I don't need the looper or the harmony thingie. I may have need of it some day, so for me, it's just a few bonus features that, whilst I don't use them, they're still great to have in case I change my mind. As far as its use outside, the amp has never failed me. It gets quite a workout tho, but I've yet to push the master volume over the halfway mark, since I can govern that from the guitar itself, or from the guitar input volume knob. Indoors, it does great, and for me personally, I rely on its ability to hold its own indoors since I do 98% of my playing indoors. I purchased it being convinced by the demo job as done by the people of PMT Music over in the UK. I contacted Meg who demonstrated it, asking her if she had ever really used it for an outdoor gig, & what she thought about it. She said something like, "yeah, and it seems to do ok for what she needs it to do. Not everyone needs all the features it comes with, but still they're just nice to have. I do get what you're saying though about the reviews on products though. You get the technical stuff & the product specs, but what would help is an honest to God review with someone actually using it in X environment to see how said product truly performs. Hope this helps some.

    Senor Castillo, hola Amigo.Sorry for your bad experience with the 6.5 inch speaker one. I have the 8 inch speaker. I dont do any solo gigs or even play with a band. I don't have a very good singing voice. lol! So far I just use it at home or in the garage and I have had no issues. I dont like the :45 second looper that comes with it. You cant do much with just :45 sceconds in my opnion.They dont tell you in the specs when you buy it. Also it is advetised as a 120 Watt Amp but the back side plainly says 50 Watts 'WOW if thats not false advertising. I dont know your countrys residence but I paid $699.00 for mine over 2 years ago in Washington State. Btw I listened to a couple of your videos. You sir are blessed with a beautiful voice. Dale Gas. Have a great day and stay safe.

    • @larrydering1598
      @larrydering1598 2 года назад

      50 watts is its power consumption, not the output. Most amps are measured at peak and not RMS like they should be. It probably does near 100 watt output which should handle medium size crowds. It seems all acoustic amps are low powered and need a PA or separate powered speaker to cover larger areas.

    The ASPro has an 8 inch speaker. I have this Amp, and I had, and was very angry about the vocal feedback problems when you turn it up - then I bought an Audix OM7 as my vocal mic - I wanted to use one anyway, so this was my excuse - and all the vocal problems went away. So far. I have to test it on more gigs, but I agree with you on almost all you say. Adjusting the tone is really very small margins between a good and a great sound on this amp. Time will tell whether I keep it. But some of the features are fantastic. It’s a compromise. Thanks for your honest review.

    Oh man. I wish they made a one-man band box with 12'', 15'' drivers with 500w, 1000w amps. These 8'', 10'' just won't cut it for live gigs. 120w with 8'' will distort badly at louder volumes. It's not just distortion or volumes. The level of realism and presence a 15'' driver gives you is just way better than 8'' , 10'' .

    • @llaugercastillo
      @llaugercastillo  3 года назад

      Correct. But this devices are made for small venues and to be portable. A 12" version exists. Fender has the acoustic pro amp which is a 12 inch speaker but only at 200 watts. If at leats is 500 will be a great deal the only other that has 500 watts is LR baggs with their synapse but its an 8 inch speaker so yes lacks of deep bass. One day im sure will be but not today.

      Take a look a t Acus amps or Schertler. I have a Acus One-AD wood and it is hands down the best and most versatile guitar and vocal amp I´ve ever used. It´s a wee bit on the expensive side but. It's a keeper for life. I decided to stop buying smaller amps and hoping they'd be enough. So I got the Acus second hand and it was the best investment I ever could have made. A truly superb amp for acoustic / electric guitar AND Vocals ! 350W + a 200W extension box from Schertler ( practically the same company - different branches ) and I have a 550W problem free pa, that I can easily carry back and forth to the car. It will easily cover the gigs I can be hoping to do for the next 3 -4 years. Bigger places have their own pa's mostly.

      Yes, for a large space gig you need a P.A. or another small amp split into it. I have used a Roland Street and blew the sound on an open air gig. This amp is worth the money and can be expanded easily with other sound systems.

    This amplifier has AN 8 INCH SPEAKER..............NOT "a 6.5 inch speaker". Trust me, I just bought this amp, and it's being shipped to me right now. The spec's clearly show that it does indeed have an 8" woofer, and a 1" dome tweeter. Also: I see another viewer asked you in a comment below if you tried using the pad button for the microphone. I have also read at least 3 different reviews from different owners of this amp who all stated that when using a Shure SM57 or SM58 for vocals, it sounds very muddy. But when they switched to a Sennheiser e-835 microphone, it made all the difference in the world and sounds great. Because of those reviews, I also purchased the Sennheiser e-835 mic along with this amp. I also purchased the BOSS/Roland GA-FC foot controller to use in conjunction with the supplied 2-button foot controller to get the ultimate use of all the features in this amp. What setting on the Master volume knob are you using where the vocals start sounding bad???

    I’m pondering the small one. We don’t need as much “volume” though we need some, more “sound reinforcement”. I’m disabled so weight is a thing. We have a sweet small PA but have been going all acoustic for several months and it’s mostly been ok with nothing. Not moving the PA is good. This might hit the spot. I have a decent mic locker, and a studio preamp that gets little use. I presume something would work. That’s said @ 6” what can you expect. I’m mostly a bass player so I know there is only some much you can expect from tiny speakers.
    Thank you.

    • @llaugercastillo
      @llaugercastillo  8 месяцев назад

      All the depends on the venue and the volume you need. But if you say you dont need much volume this could work. Just remember is an acoustic guitar amp which is a full range speaker that work fine for acoustic instruments and vocals but electric bass although can work is not intended for it so that needs to be checked before taking a decision. Boss has the small acoustic performer and the biggest the acoustic pro the acoustic pro is 8" inch speaker and still it is a small cabinet and i'm sure it will be way better to handle a bass thru it. Check it out. Merry xmas.

    I did a lot of research in Acoustic forums and I couldn't find any negative comments about the voice channel. Could it be possible that this guy's amp is faulty? Boss and Roland make great amps, pedals, etc. Don't get me wrong, I believed his grivances about his particular issue, but it seems to be an isolated problem. Did he contact Boss/Roland customer support? Any warranty service? IMHO after Fishman, Boss acoustic amps are second in line regarding sound quality in this budget category.

      No i didn't contact them but the amp its in working condition no issues with it. The problem it is only when in high volumes when is use in small venues works as a charm but when you need the total power of the amp it sucks on the voice but not on the guitar.

      The guitar sounded fine but vocals were Muddy. I was thinking about getting one till I heard this. Maybe they just were off that performance, but it sure put a pause on me buying one.

    i totally disagree with your video ...i have the little brother the acoustic singer live and it more than fills the room of the average taproom or small venue ....and i really only turn it up halfway . i use a wireless system on my guitar so i can walk way out front and check my volume . i do put it on an amp stand though. my question for you is : how loud do you think you need to be playing acoustic guitar and singing? the amp is bi-amped 60 watts (30 watts per channel the big one you have is 100 watts 50 per channel) . the AS live is small but has larger alnico mags so it puts out more umph.....but it's compact size allows me to do a quick setup and break down . obviously for larger spaces with high ceilings i bring my 200 watt pa system , speakers and speaker stands, but for small venues like coffee rooms and brewpubs it works fine and in fact many places specifically request that i bring the smaller rig because they don't want the music so loud that folks cant talk .

You could get a Genz Benz Shenandoah with 2-12 if you need more fire power but then it's more to lug. The Boss allows you to run a line in to a P.A. from each channel and have independant control over the vol for each channel for bigger spaces too .....most bi amped rigs only give you one stereo out but this feature allows you to rasise only the vocals if you need more vox etc
