Way I see it, the ufo spawns the objects too slowly which makes it almost impossible for the 1 player to win. However once the players discover this exploit and know how to balance the objects to get what they need, it’s almost impossible for the 3 to win.
It’s not impossible if they choose to not jump over the spikes and stay in the corners making the one player have to then drop spikes on them each and potentially run out of time which happened to me several times because it was slow to give me the 4 spike. Plus Brent is making setting it up in time look much easier then it is.
@@DaGhostToastRoast you literally just spam pieces in the middle and then move slightly to the side when you get the 4 spike one and drop it, how is it hard?
i have always maintained that there should be two categories of 1v3 minigames: ones balanced in the 1's favor to allow last place to catch up, and ones balanced in the 3's favor to bring down the 1st placeplayer
It could have been way better if it wad round based, once the first 3 are open, next round with the 3 survivors and only 2 gates. It was that easy but no, only minigame I had to retry in story 3 times
I hate RNG minigames in general. The whole point of minigames is to showcase the player's skill to balance out all the luck on the board. But then they went and made RNG based minigames for no reason other than to be cruel.
Thanks for the tip. Before this, I assumed the team had it rigged in their favor because they’d move out of the way whenever I tried to drop a bar above or near them.
i respect the minigame’s idea but having an active hitbox on the spikes on the bottom of the platform that you can’t jump over is an insane oversight lol
Peepa: Dumb minigame you say? Then heres a minigame for you *puts you to play Gate-Keypers and laughs at you while others gets it right and you dont and sees you game raging about it very comically*
If it had more retrofitted physics, where the blocks don't slide around or teeter totter, it could've been a decent challenge for both sides alike. And or make it so the tiles disappear after a set amount of time, or after placing x amount of tiles. But unfortunately, that's not the world we live in. Instead, we got this.
First time playing this one with family and we somehow got someone perfectly stuck on the edge where they couldn’t move and the 1 couldn’t drop anything on them
A skilled player in the group of three can manage to stay on top of the stack for long enough to stall for their other two teammates on opposite sides of the stack to live
I love when brent makes shorts like this. I will counter that even with making the 5 spike ramp, it's still possible for the one to win, but yeah this game is theoretically even until someone learns that you can flip the spikes over and stuff.
my least favorite is the one where you hide in one of the four holes and the other players need to guess whre you hid. Took me a while to beat it in party planner.
I think its still winnable if the players are good enough. If you jump on each others head to go around, it is possible to evade the spikes, although you'll lose a friend each time you do that, but only one needs to win anyway
Yeah I came up with this strategy on my own first time seeing it because one of the bots accidentally made one turn a little. Hence, it‘s just an autowin for the single player
I’ve played this minigame and here’s the thing they do not give you enough time to pull off what Brent is doing here at least not every time. A lot of times it will make you stack a ton of spikes before giving you the 4 spike and also the physics don’t always work out the block will flip. I was playing this minigame in party prep today and I had the timer run out on me several times before I could get everyone because another thing you can just wait in the corner and not try jump over the spikes because chances are you will run out of time before you can individually drop blocks on each side. A lot can go wrong for the 1 player is what I’m saying So no this minigame is more nuanced then it appears even with this exploit.
Can't the three just split themselves on either side of the tower??? So the four spiked object is only on one side and only stopping some players. My buddy thought he had a guaranteed win and then remembered that there are two sides
Just wanted to share some extra tips from my 150+ sessions of playing as the one. Think of this as some optimization and extra info to pretty much gurantee your victory further. - We know flipping the 4 spike is one way to gurantee a victory, but another way you can win is by stacking a flipped 3 spike onto another platform. An opponent can jump over a 3 spike but when it’s a platform high from the ground, it becomes impossible. Preferably you want to stack the 3 spike onto an already flipped platform and if it’s not flipped, you must stack it directly on top (without exposing any of the safe platform). If you’re not able to stack them, just having platforms flipped and close together should do the trick as well (two 3 spikes together becomes a 6 spike) - Since my strategy revolves around using the 3 spikes, what I do is flip over the first 3 spike onto the side with 2 players, use the 5 spike to stack on my base for some height then I place my 3 or 4 spikes towards the side I want to attack. Usually all I need is a base 3-4 platforms high. Because of some height, it’s easier to flip over pieces (also the opponents can’t escape and are properly divided). Once I have my base, I use the strat of flipping the 4 spike and/or a stacked 3 spike to attack the 2 then finish off the solo player on the right. And because I have one 3 spike flipped from the start I’m able to capitalize off of that. And once I have my impossible jumps I just go and place my platform directly above my opponent to get that GG. To conclude: Yeah this game is pretty broken and an easy victory for the one if they know what they’re doing. While this is a pretty one sided minigame, the only way you could maybe survive this strat is if you jump on your teammates head to clear an otherwise impossible jump. CPUs do this very rarely (I had one game where they cleared it and I almost lost) but real players may or may not know (still very unlikely tho) this is a thing you can do. All and all, great vid and I just wanted to get this info extra info off my chest. Was insipired by people saying this game is unfair for the one and then I was all “Do they know?” Well hopefully everyone knows how to dominate this minigame ❤
I actually figured this out on complete accident when I played it in Party Planner Trek mode. I dropped one of the platforms trying to crush Bowser, but when he jumped out of the way, it hit the tower and flipped over right as Spike jumped into its path. I was surprised you could even do that.
I have a fun story with this one: I was playing with my brother and our friend the friend was the ufo guy. He tried this but got too close and the not spike side ended up leaning on the side of the wall where I was with a gap just big enough for me to fit making it literally impossible for him to win
I accidentally got someone wedged into the corner and used the spike pad as a shield so I couldn't hit them no more, maybe I'm bad or just super unlucky that time.
I played this mini game for the first time two days ago and I had come to the conclusion that it's unwinnable for the single person. I really wish I had saw this sooner
There's still counterplay if you're good at jumping around the falling objects and landing on them. I actually did this once where someone pulled that trick on me, I just narrowly jumped over and around the one they dropped on me, and I just kept doing that until I won. It's difficult, but so fun to do if you know it.
Luigi programmed all of this, to finally kill Mario. He hates so much Mario for treating him with the typical condescending big brother behavior. It was inevitable. (also Luigi a psychopath... Yeah, who could have imagined... )
So I don't have this game but the characters being eliminated are trying to jump over it what if you just don't move or shift move if an object is dropped in your location
After playing this one a few times, I figured there was a way to use the mini games physics to win the game for free. I just didn't realize it was this unfair if played correctly.
Yeah, I'd argue Gate Key-pers is even worse. It is so easy to just get screwed over with no control over it. I had to replay this minigame so many times just to get through the single player mode since the CPU just seemed to always know the correct key/door.
