I really don’t know why they’ve even invented 35mm handlebars? I’ve never ever heard someone complain that 31.8 bars aren’t stiff enough for them, quite the opposite is the case, like this Video showcased again. The only reason these 35mm bars exist is that the industry tried to push another useless standard on us, because people didn’t bought enough handlebars anymore. Now there’s something new, all the big bike media outlets report about it and boom people buy it because they don’t want to miss out on a trend. It’s ridiculous enough that there’s a new frame/fork/shock version every year that is magically better than last years model (at least that’s what they want to sell us) so a new component standard that performs worse is just ridiculous. I think the sweetspot for a life cycle update on Frames would be around 3 years (like it was about 8 years ago), because after that there really should be some new developments. But the yearly updates *and increased prices* of some manufacturers are nothing else than taking advantage of their dumb customers that have more money than brains. It’s ridiculous to think that my Nukeproof Mega 290 from 2016 is considered outdated with its 66deg headangle. Of course the people that make these claims have never ridden it, but heard the numbers and where shocked that someone rides steeper tracks with a „cross country headangle“ ( no shit that’s what I was recently told about my bike!) This stuff then keeps nagging you in the back of your head and you keep thinking if you should really upgrade even if your bikes feels amazing to yourself..
