This is hands down most underrated Interceptor Mod video on RUclips right now.. A Gold Standard about how modification videos should be done.. Great Job Man !!
Excellent video! I asked the dealer about this when I bought the bike four years ago - he didn't know. So only recently did I discover that the RE kit is available & have just ordered the parts from India at somewhat less than the UK price.
Awesome video! Well done! I was so glad when I found your video, because I needed that swap to do the other way around on my continental, which I've converted to a scrambler. In your video it seemed like there are no additional parts needed, except the master cylinder guard. But it turned out to be wrong, and I had to learn it the hard way by trial and error. While I did the swap I figured that a few things need modifications too. For example: 1.) The brake hydraulic fitting to the rear master cylinder needs to be straight. Even loosening the screw of the fitting is not enough to make the master cylinder fit tidy. I need to bend it, which is certainly risky. Or I would need to crimp a new straight fitting on it. 2.) The rear brake reservoir needs a bracket in a lower position, but the 2021 Continental doesn't have the one I need for the interceptor foot control plates. So, I need to improvise, and mount it somewhere else. I actually thought the frames of these bikes are entirely the same. Obviously they're! 😬 Anyway thanks for your video. Without that I would've sold my GT, because my old rigger back doesn't like that cafe racer posture anymore. 😅
As a tall rider i changed to GT 650 pegs and transformed my bike. Knees are lower and i can now grip the tank. Ordered parts direct from India no issues and fast delivery. Only draw back is side stand is now directly below the peg but you can just flip the peg up a little.
If possible, please do add a video showing the difference between the leg position with the old setup and the new. Like with your legs on the ground and also with your legs on the pegs. Good luck!!
thanks for your comment. Unfortunately, I can't do this comparison right now since I sold the interceptor parts already. But yes, that would be a good idea for the future. I am sure there are comparisons for INT and GT riding positions somewhere in the internet.
This video is about the installation mainly. If you are interested in doing this I would suggest to go to a dealer and just sit on both bikes for comparison and see if it works for you. Unfortunately I can't do a comparison video because I sold the Interceptor system already.
Hi thanks for the comment. It is not really a look update. I guess the video is more helpful for interceptor owners who are annoyed by the footpeg position and want to change it to the GT style. You have to sit on the bikes really to experience the difference rather than look at it.
@@cadenceandchaostv I got your point; however, I was asking that one cannot make out the difference unless there is a comparison picture side-by-side. I do understand that it is for INT650 or GT 🙂 and one must ride with them to feel the difference. A picture would have been better. Thanks
Nice clear video, thanks, even the dealer couldn't tell me exactly which parts I'd need. I'd like to improve the peg placement on my INT but I don't want to move the bars down to the gt position. What do you think about that combo?
I first changed the handlebar and the pegs came later. I think your approach will work better than the other way around. I also raised my bars a bit again for comfort
I was thinking that the Conti footrests would make the Interceptor a better bike. Good to see that it can be done...and you can retain the flexibility of a one-piece bar if you don't like the clipons on the Conti.
true .. I am happy with these footrests. I am still planning on trying other handlebars in the future. If I will come across used/cheap Conti clip-ons I will add them to my collection nevertheless :D
I have changed my interceptor handle to Gt handle and tank as well but only left with foot pecks which I’m not aware and may I know where we will get supporting accessories
I'm looking at doing this mod to my Interceptor, I keep bashing my shins on the footrests and wondered if it might prevent that ? I have changed my bars for flat ones with risers and also think rear sets will better suit the bike.
The original INT footrest are positioned exactly where I wanted to put my leg down when stopping. This was really irritating for me at first. If this is the reason you keep bashing your shins then this mod might work well for you. They are further back and also do not stick out as far.
thanks for the comment. yes, you are right! good option for anyone planning to convert it. I got it a lot cheaper though. Also shipping to Germany ( where I live ) is quite expensive.
I am considering the exact opposite situation. I have a GT and want a less aggressive foot position. So, is it as easy as buying the INT foot controls and swapping them?
How do you feel after this mod, will appreciate another video where we can see the posture or how it looks, I'm 6 feet tall and after like 2hrs with all the wind blast, knees start to hurt a bit.
I personally like the riding position, because I have intsalled a lower handlebar. I didnt encounter aching knees, but I didn't ride for a couple of hours straight yet because it was winter here in Germany.
Hey! I want to change my interceptor to a continental GT front! Do you know if I have to change cables or something like that? Or do they fit with the same configuration of the interceptor 650?
thanks for the comment ! I will prepare new videos as soon as my new garage is ready :) You should be able to get all the parts you need from your local RE dealer. They will order it for you ...
Is there a conversion for the GT to Interceptor's footpeg ? Seriously, if the GT had even the standard Interceptor footpegs, its riding position would be So Much better ... yes, with those 'Clip-ons' !!
If the int 650 rider pegs would just lock in the up position when needed it would solve my main problem of them getting in the way when on the seat and manually pulling the bike backwards. The passenger pegs do this already. I tried putting them up front on the rider bracket but that didn’t work.
They do have a strange position which was another reason for me to change them. I remember the first time stopping during my testride. I got used it it though.
You could drill, fit a spring-loaded ball-bearing/pointer to lock into an 'indent' . I have this kind of set-up on my xs650 cafe-bike, so that I can operate the kickstart . Dave NZ
@@batistabat1743 no there is no problem. I just moved the brake fluid cylinder a bit higher. There is mounting hole for that ( the GT has it positioned there ). No problem with the braking.
I'm looking at going the opposite direction with foot controls because of knee injuries. Do you think the Interceptor foot controls will fit on the Continental 650? TIA
Hello bro.. i have ben thinking about this modification on my int650. I checked with many mechanics as well as service center as well as some modification agencies but they were saying its not possible . Could you please guide me how to get this done. And from where i should get this done.
Hello, I don't see why this should not be possible . At least for me it was a very easy task. You just have to buy the few parts shown in the beginning of the video. ( Original Continental GT parts of course ) and simply change them out. I got the parts used, but you should be able to find a place to order them online somewhere. Cheers
do i need only the black holding part of gt 650 that holds footrest or i have to get new rubber footrest also and the gear levers break levers . What do i need , can you reply so that i can change in mine .
you will need exactly the parts that are shown in the video at 0:32. So both levers, the black holding brackets with screws, and the heelguards. everything else can be reused
Did u use the existing gear lever or replaced it wit the gt one ? N dont u think the distance between the foot peg n the gear is big ? Waiting for your rply Thanks in advance.
I replaced the gear lever with the GT one. I bought everything that is needed to rebuild the GT lever system. The distance is not bigger than with the interceptor version. But it is more direct because it is directly attached to the gear box
