I remember Dave White's taxi as the first time I ever had a car ride. It was from Colbourne's wharf to the old hospital to see my mother who was a patient there at the time.

Beautiful place and as unspoiled as the people. My Grandmother, Gwendolyn Rose Jenkins was born there. She with my young father (and eventually most of her sibs) left for Ontario. My Dad took his young family back in the late '60's to meet my Grandpa (the one time before he passed). What I remember most is the crystal clear waters and my Grandfather rowing us out in a dory. I have a vivid memory of my 5 yr old self peering over the side of the boat and all the colourful sea urchins (?) and starfish way down looking like a gorgeous underwater garden. I can see why my father wanted to be buried in St Peter's Church yard. It has to be one of the most well sited places of burial sloping down to the cliff edge with another stunning vista of the Atlantic Ocean below. Now this makes me want to return and share it with my children.
