KANDALI: A unique battle festival from Himalayas of Uttarakhand

- Kandali is a festival held once every 12 years in Chaudans region of Pithoragarh district in Kumaon division, Uttarakhand, in Indian Himalayas. The inhabitants of the region are known as Rung, a section of Bhotia people living in the region between India and Tibet.

1:13 I doubt the flower in the video is Kandali/ Kangdali... Cause it blooms every year in my region (Almora), could be growing in Chaundas in twelve years cause of snow, but I highly doubt that's the case... We call it "जनिल" but as we say "नाव नाव में भासा और पाणि दुई बदई जानी" so that name is supposed to vary...
Janil, or Jontilla as it is known in some regions, is a very similar plant, both Kandali and Jontilla belong to the same family. Both have a 12 year blooming period though.

Trishul peak (7120m) is in Garhwal division, the border between Kumaon and Garhwal passes through the ridge line immediately south east to the Trishul massif.
