Getting in the hay using Allis-Chalmers 77G rake & Allis-Chalmers 302 7 303 balers. Implements being pulled by an Allis-Chalmers "D-15" Series II tractor.
Nice tractors. Love hearing them work. Agree with a few comments below that you should keep the wheels off the windrows, will make the raking much easier. Also, while raking make your windrows straight and it will make baling a lot easier too. I bale 20 acres of hay and our fields are goofy shaped but raking is the time to get things tidy and baling goes much quicker. Less wear and tear on the machinery too. Nice video and tractors. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for watching this video. The bale chute was set at a height for loading a wagon, It could have been lowered to let the bales slide to the ground. The con to lowering the chute is that if its to low and you need to backup to chute could dig in the ground and cause damage. No bales where harmed in the making of this hay.
We had a D17 Diesel. A tremendously powerful tractor for it's size. Only real problem was keeping it in head gaskets. Too bad for AC. Some of the best equipment they made was for the average family farm. Seemed like they could never make the transition from the family farm to the factory farm.
That was a nice demonstration. I am planning to purchase an Allis Chalmers 272 with which I want to use it for cutting and baling hay too. Thanks for your video. Happy farming.
OK, our D-15 had a wide front end, our Allis rake was older, and our Allis little square baler was probably older, too. But it all sure looks familiar. :-)
Thanks for watching! The right wheel was set out so that the driver would be forced to run the hay in to the right side of the baler. By doing this the hay flows in the chamber very well.
Cool. I did not know that. I spent many hours baling with a WD45 and New Holland 270. Was a good combination. We baled a lot with wagon behind. Stacked bales by hand. Dropped some on the ground at times too. I still have the WD45. Dad purchased it new in 1954. I want to bale again with it. Maybe this summer!!!
The left wheel is in all the way. The left wheel should have been placed all the way out so that the windrow would run between the front wheels on the left rear wheel.

I grew up with a D-14 & a D-17...loved the hand clutch on them , it was a very versatile accessory.

how much hay are you making during the season?
Put a rack behind that baler!!

Had one of those old allis Chalmers balers best baler I ever owned

Nice video!
Love that d 15 tricycle
why is the tailgate set to invert the bales, as it's also distorting their shape, curling them!!?
2 AC hay tools you just never saw around my area
Should move his right wheel in just little bit.
What model AC baler? Looks like the short hitch model kinda like the NH 270 I have. Wish I had a 273 or an AC 444 with longer hitch.
It’s a A.C. 302 baler.
Tengo una consulta para hacerle por el atador. Soy de Uruguay 🇺🇾
Buenas tardes. Tengo una pregunta para hacerle sobre la empacadora
Get those tractor wheels narrowed in so you are not driving on the windrow!
Thanks for watching!

Dennis Anderson Yeah, but put the left wheel in. Used to set up our WD-45 all the time that way for plowing.

This driver cant drive a straight line !
That’s because the windrow was not raked straight.
Not a very good raking job.
