When I did this install, my range on my last truck (steel) went from probably 7 miles, to maybe a mile on my new truck (aluminum). Any idea what I need to change to get my range back?
You need to add a couterpoise to act as a grounding plane. If you search on google for the term “vehicle couterpoise’ it should point you in the right direction. My apologies if you fall down the rabbit hole ;)
Thanks...I can't remember what the SWR reading was but it was very good. I put a larger antenna on it that works awesome....Comet SBB5 NMO 38". I also have a smaller antenna if I need to shorter....Comet B-10 NMO 12".
Great video thank you 😊
Nice job
I wish they had the dual for the Silverado. Would have saved me a hole in the roof.

No Ground Plane for reflection needs. Metal type will not make any difference. Reflection will happen on Aluminum or Steal.
Nice. I have the 300 setup the same as you on my Ranger. What's the SWR readings with this mount? I want one

Thats slick, but is it really $550?
No....that is for the upper end ones. I believe I paid in the $300 range. No cheap, but I did not drill holes in my roof....works awesome!!!
The higher priced ones are the baja design with the LED lights.
