Had our (quick) wedding trip from Paris to Bruges because of our jobs. No divorce since then. Tx Bruges 30 years later. We ended up at Zeebruges (the actual fishingport of Bruges) and asked for a tray of local seafood. 'Sorry we don't have that'. I told how sorry I was because of the occasion (wedding trip) and we ordered some sole fishes (small and incredibly good in Belgium). They came with an outstanding tray of seafood and then came those sole fish. So nice ;)) Belgium is a gift for anyone.

My husband took me to beautiful Bruges for my 40th Birthday and I adore it. Been several times since, with our sons. The Central Square is beautiful when lit up at night and houses fabulous Restaurants. That's also where the Horse drawn Carriages can be found. We loved the romantic night time Horse drawn tours where everything is so quiet and pretty and friendly drivers share a little of Bruges History., then off for dinner and wine ☺ The Water tours are also unmissable, the people are friendly. I cannot wait to go again
Very well done. I'm from Bruges and live 2 km outside the center and you really did your best to make one of the best promo movies of our town. It is always nice for us to see tourists enjoying what Bruges has to offer. There is of course more but that will be for another time 😉

I would go directly to such a lovely town, but i live in Bruges and sometimes it can be so over crowded that i don't realize anymore how beautiful it is. Hi, I am a local citizen of Bruges and if you really want to try the belgian beers, you need to go to 't Brugs beertje! It's not really known by tourists, but you'll be in schock when you're going to see all the beers they have (also at a reasonable price)! Sometimes, they even have a beer called 'black damnation' that has an alcohol percentage of 18%! Must-go if you ask me!

A little recommendation from myself: if you want to try some of the best cocktails in the world, go to Bar Ran. The bartender Ran has won the best bartender in the world award and can fix you up with some amazing drinks. The best Fries can be found at Chez Vincent. A favorite Fries shop for locals. Is it like France where everything is included or do you only tip for something exceptional beyond your expectations? All the best of the season an a very Joyeux Noel 🎅 🎄 ❣❣❣❣ this channel.
Since this question doesn't get answered: on a check/bill it states tax and service is included. But, unless you're traveling to Disneyland expecting to see glitter and stars anywhere by default; extra tipping for a good quality service is really just so basically kind. The thing is however, some places have people for service, cleaning and receiving. You guess (most of) these joints don't care about tips you'd like your waiter/waitress to earn; and just add it up to the pile without proper shares. So just look out for the places recommend by locals in general and see how the working culture is. As plated in this video, tourist traps usually don't profoundly care for anything but profits and you don't want to know how many "authentic local dishes" get delivered by catering wholesalers every morning while tourists are having their fresh French croissant... Right. So should you? No. Is it worth considering along some options and checks before going on a trip you're paying for these days? Fill that in.

Bruges is one of my favorite cities to visit when I am in Europe. My friend lives in Lille so it is an easy day trip for us. I must admit I have not tried either the chocolate or beer because of calories but have been there for the Saturday market. Enjoyed seeing Bruges again through your vlog.

Hi, nice video ;) I live in Bruges and work in tourism. One tip which makes quite a difference: We do not speak french in Bruges. I heard a lot of french terms in the video. When you are visiting speak english, or learn a couple of dutch words like "hallo, dankjewel, tot ziens". You might offend us by speaking to us in French, because it is totally not our language. It is never with bad intentions, but still 😉

@MoonlightLillies the food is spelled "mussels" (muscles are the things in your arms, legs... that can make you move 😉 ) Oliebollen (in English: Oil Balls) are not a winter snack, more of a funfair snack. In the winter there is a very small funfair and then you can buy oliebollen too @LesFrenchies you managed to film (some of) the beauty of Bruges while it was so busy, great job! At the beginning, you said Bruges is one of your favorites. Is that because you've been here before, or did it become one of your favorites on that trip you guys filmed? :)

Bev, the Christmas market started this year at 25 november, and is until I believe 8 januari On Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays, there's the typical market (fruits, vegetables, flowers...) where with the Christmas market you get mostly gift ideas, winter hats, scarves, gloves, hot dogs, waffles....

Bruges is quite small yes, but it's so intricate (small alleys, a combination of touristy and calm areas, and most of all: history is all over the place!)
There is a chocolatier in Bruges: Dominique Persoone He does crazy stuff with chocolate (like, he made something so you can snort chocolate, never tried it before). Also the chocolate from Leonidas stores is so delicious. There's also a chocolate museum in Bruges, and a bigger one in Antwerp :)
I was in Bruges on late sep, was lovely to watch this video; although our tourist guy recommended NOT doing the horse ride due to the condition of the animals.
The beer the Frenchies are drinking is called 'Brugse Zot' is not heavy beer .( 6% alc.) In Belgium there are around +/-1200 different kind of beers (it depends from year to year, in 2015 more than 1600 ). The heaviest is 14% alc. My favorite is St-Feuillien Grand Cru ( 9.5% alc.)

It's most worth it to climb the Belfry when it's nice out and not clouded. It's always worth it, don't get me wrong, but those conditions are the absolute best! (Also if you do, bring some ear protection, because at the highest point visitors can go, you're in the room where the bells hang, and if they start playing while up there, your ears won't like you)

We like Bruges, but find Ghent is less touristy and slightly cheaper, can get to Bruges/Brussels from Ghent in 30mins.

Bruges really is beautiful and scenic but it was so crowded and touristy, one couldn't really walk around in peace without stepping on some toes.
Depends when you visit. I visited during a summer day and it was easy to roam around.

I was in Bruges for a day July this year and it was magical. Surprisingly, the city was almost empty apart from the Markt area.
Brugge still hasn't fully recovered from Covid tourist number-wise. We used to get 8+ million visitors a year and last year we were at 6 million.
We just got back from visiting Brussels, Bruges and Ghent. It was amazing!! Great video 💕💕

Food looks so good! Never had Belgian beer 🍺...it doesn't look heavy?? What a nice, not too far trip.
The beer the Frenchies are drinking is called 'Brugse Zot' is not heavy beer .( 6% alc.) In Belgium there are around +/-1200 different kind of beers (it depends from year to year, in 2015 more than 1600 ). The heaviest is 14% alc. My favorite is St-Feuillien Grand Cru ( 9.5% alc.)

@@carolmartin4413 Ha ye German beer. since I live only 5 minutes from the Dutch and 15 minutes from the German border. When shopping in these countries, I come across German beer. Germans have slightly different way of brewing than the Belgians. And this because of The Reinheitsgebot en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reinheitsgebot

But what's more important than a heavy beer, is the taste. That's (one of the reasons) why there are so many different beers in Belgium: to each their own taste ;)

It's most worth it to climb the Belfry when it's nice out and not clouded.
It's always worth it, don't get me wrong, but those conditions are the absolute best!
(Also if you do, bring some ear protection, because at the highest point visitors can go, you're in the room where the bells hang, and if they start playing while up there, your ears won't like you)
