Batuu was a mistake from the start with being locked in the Sequel Trilogy and a planet with no previous history for Star Wars and fans. Star Wars land should’ve been different at each resort. Disneyland gets Tatooine with California having a sunny dry climate, Disney World gets Endor with it already having shield bunker for Star Tours, and Paris gets Naboo which is something distinctly European.
Great idea, but i would have loved Endor in Paris. Mainly because endor was alway the destination in classic star tours and you could do great story telling with „we finally arrived on endor“. I love star tours, but in never fit the paris discovery land. Moving it to the other park and making it the entrance to the land would have been next level theming. Imagine, riding star tours with new films, landing on endor, leaving the vehicle and exiting into the endor land. Just amazing.
That is what the original plan was by the imagineers, but Mathy called Iger to pushed for sequel trilogy, and Iger wanted to save money as well avoid paying George as many royalties as possible. While he did sell Star Wars to Disney, they still have to pay him whenever they use any of his ideas. So the sequel trilogy and the land avoid using his characters and ideas as much as possible. That's a reason why the Millennium Falcom is slightly different. By being different enough, they can avoid layinf him.
To be fair Batuu seemed to be designed to be a place where you could have elements of all three trilogies. Let's not forget a character from Clone Wars is the most prominent character one of the two big rides. The real problem is that Disney have always made the exact same mistake that Star Wars fans themselves make. They vastly overestimate the reach and popularity of Star Wars.
Marvel and Frozen lands can both be found in other parks. I'm delighted that Disneyland Paris is finally getting a land that is exclusive to this resort again even if it's only for now
Lion King is my favourite movie ever made so I'm so happy it's getting its own ride. Even after following the rumors for many years, it feels surreal. Also random thing but I'm still hoping Pride Rock will be a sort of hourly show like the Small World parade in Disneyland Park, or the burning windmill in Epic Universe. Have all the animal figures suddenly look up while Simba "walks" over Pride Rock with Circle of Life playing.
it’s not the remake. I make that point very clearly in the video. Disney shared an outdated concept art and later confirmed several times that it’ll be based on the animated movie.
Definitely happier with the Lion King land and that park NEEDS a water based ride and more animatronics. I'm just annoyed that with all that expansion we're only getting 3 new rides (1 of them a tea cups type of ride). They could have added much more to those lands even if it was attractions suitable for the younger visitors.
I would love an indoor star wars land in a huge showbuilding, that is the lower levels of coruscant with neon and hologram signs all over the place, that has either a dark ceiling like in pirates or mirrors placed carefully, so that the buildings look much taller
This is a great idea. A lot of SWGE budget was spent on the environmental rock work and building that, while beautifully executed, fails to resonate with many longtime SW fans because it's unfamiliar. While Coruscant doesn't resonate with me as well as original trilogy locations, it's at least "a thing" and could be cost effectively created inside a show building, as you describe. From there, an attraction could transport you to wherever is needed (for example Rise of the Rebels (see what I did, dropping sequel trilogy tie-in?) could start from a Rebel hideout in the back alleys on Coruscant. Also, saving money on rock work and buildings could allow for a larger (or two) cantinas/nightclubs -- correcting a SWGE failing.
Oga's Cantina sucks. You have to make a reservation to stand in line. Then when you get in, they tell you where to stand. The space is too small and it's too crowded. They have no bartenders. All the drinks are pre-made and come out of a dispenser. You can get a glass of fruit punch for $18.
Is that the case in Florida? We recently were in Anaheim and there you have bartenders and waiters! It was very crowded and noisy, but sooo cool! We had no reservation and got in fairly quick. We loved it. After being there, we were disappointed not to get Star Wars land in Paris, but with the additional information in this video, it might be better to get an exclusive Lion King Land, than reduced Star Wars Land. I really hope the rumors of something Star Wars behind Discoveryland turn into reality. That'd be great.
Oga’s is meant to be crowded as it adds to the atmosphere, plus don’t know where you went mate but I’ve been to Oga’s three times at DHS and every time they’ve had bartenders and waiting staff (if you’re sat at a table or alcove) plus it’s only a few drinks that are premixed such as the fuzzy tauntaun (as they are the most popular) everything else is made in front of you, if you’re at the bar.
I still think this ride should have been placed in Disneyland Park considering they haven’t had a new attraction or land for 20 years now. I think a moana coaster (similar to Everest) should have been the 2nd land around Adventure Bay.
This would indeed fit Adventureland quite well. I do like that Everest moana ride, could be something like "The Fall to the Monster Realm" with some great dark scenes too!
WDS aka DAW needs more Disney brand rides / family rides so Lion King is great choice. Also it's smart to add a large scale E ticket exclusive. Not only will it attract Disney fans from around the world, it will give this maligned park something unique and worthy of a visit. Let's hope the interior show scenes are next level immersive. Frozen land, Adventure Bay and Lion King ride will majorly help to fix this park, make it a full day experience. If they add Avatar too, it will become just as good as any second gate worldwide.
Lion king is, like you mentioned. This is going to be the first ride based off that franchise and will be unique to the disney Paris resort. Galaxy’s edge has been replicated twice and the era it is based around is the most divisive. I think this was a smart move by disney because when they announced it at D23 my family and I instantly said when this opens we will return to this resort!
I like the idea of a Star Wars "mini" land with just Rise, rather than what we got in the US with Galaxy's Edge. GE just doesn't really do anything and is just a big waste of space that doesn't feel alive. But I think this Lion King area in Paris is really going to make people in the US jealous and people are going to be screaming about why this isn't being built in Animal Kingdom.
Lion king is a much better pick, will be great to have something original at the Paris parks, that theme will look better around the lake, it’s a more beloved theme in Europe, plus there isn’t a water ride in either park so it’s much needed and will be a great fit. It will also be interesting to see how good this ride will be with all the new water ride technology since they made splash mountain - this could potentially be the best water ride in the world
I think that the lion king land was a cost saving measure. I mean it is mostly rockworks. I expect a log flume ride with a retelling of the original movie. So far it seems that Disney is playing it safe. From a business point this land makes perfect sense. But to impress me I want either a very well themed indoor section or something that revolutionises the ride system. Disney is the leader in the industry and from a leader I have high expectations. I think that no one should be suprised that star wars land got cancelled. Galaxy edge wasn't a success. Disney invested a lot in this land but the attendence stayed roughly the same in the american parks. In Paris this land would be even perform less well. Galaxy edge is basicly a mall, but we europeans tend to spent less on merchandise than the average american. Also the interest in star wars is in a all time low. The acolyte got cancelled and Ubisoft star wars game is also underperforming. Currently I see no argument for another Galaxy edge.
@gregr3720 Disney has chosen a log flume for a new ride. Disney as the leader in the industry needs to come up with something new. Something exciting. Something that pushes this ridesystem forward. Disney was once a great innovator. If Disney builds another Splash mountain clone with a lion king theme, I would be a bit dissappointed. I mean we have already seen turn tables and backward drops. Some parks are even using a vertical lift instead of a conveyer belt. I am not expecting much but a new technical gimmick would be nice.
It wasn’t a cost saving measure for one simple reason: while Star Wars was going to be an expensive build (rise being one of the most expensive rides ever) it was a clone, there was no R&D involved. Now, Disney has needed to completely design a new land from scratch including their first flume of this type, which is rumoured to be the same system as Chiapas + all the animatronics and more.
@@themainstreetnews no R&D for RotR, because it is clone? The unique challenge at the Parisian resort is that it is bilingual. Also there will be a sizeable bunch of people that don't speak french and are still learning english. So Rotr had to be adapted to a bilingual ride without becoming too awkward. Then they have to solve the pacing issues. It becomes basicly a new ride.
@ you cannot compare the cost of developing an entire new ride, one if not the most technologically advanced ever made to translating some characters in the same ride. Take a look at WEB Adventure, it’s the exact same ride to California’s expect Spider-Man speaks French and there’s a different track for Sharon (and some subtitles in the preshow)
Whilst I enjoy both, I think having the Lion King is ultimately better because A) it's never been represented anywhere before B) its a nice visual to have two mountains, one snowy the other dry.
As much as I love both Lion King & Star Wars and would have loved both in the resort I'm very happy we're getting Lion King as DLP badly needs a land exclusive to Paris only
The Star Wars areas in the US parks have not been successful in terms of attracting extra guests. The same for retail sales or foot traffic. All this is due to the change to have these lands take place during the Disney trilogy, not the original trilogy.
It is more than that. Disney made a mistake building exact clones on both coasts, and allowing the Imagineers to do whatever they wanted. Galaxy’s Edge is not “friendly” to casual parkgoers, as it relies too heavily on LARPing. It needed to be set in a fluid timeline, rather than be frozen and rigid. Also, one of the rides is essentially just a B-17 flight simulator.
@@ungabungababy i think the biggest mistake (among many) was creating a new “amalgam” location to set the land in. They should have gone the Harry Potter way, recreate specific movie planets, and do different planets in different parks and resorts (cloning the attractions, but not the setting of the theme). You could have Tatooine in one park, Naboo in another and Coruscant in another one.
Star Wars would be perfect for the back of discovery land. I really hope they do that. I really can’t decide what ride should go there though. I’d love rise of the resistance, but not sure if the land is big enough.
The area could fit Rise but not Galaxy's Edge as it is in the US, perhaps big enough for what was planned for Paris. Personally a Star Wars themed Hagrid's Motorbike Adventure in an Endor themed land would be awesome!
@ Oh yeah I completely agree. Something original would be great. A roller coaster would be a good fit, but they would 100% have to revert hyperspace mountain back as the two would be very close to each other.
@@themainstreetnews - Disneyland Paris is not meant to be a clone of Disneyland and Magic Kingdom. It was deliberately designed to have its own identity. Meaning, it would be counterproductive to replicate Rise of the Resistance. The best option for a potential mini-Galaxy’s Edge would be a speeder bike reskin of the Tron Lightcycle, but with a different track layout. Save a new trackless dark ride for a different IP.
The most compelling reason for the swap you highlight has to the be expansion in the castle park extending the existing Star Wars theming. It would be odd to have an IP across two parks. Great video
If a mini-Galaxy’s Edge is built behind Discoveryland, it will be completely different than what is in America. As the rumored ride, is actually a speeder bike version of the Tron Lightcycle. Which would add another roller coaster, and the return of a proper Space Mountain. Plus, it would then be a unique “Star Wars” attraction, build exclusively for the European market.
Indeed that appears to be one of the possibilities when it comes to the ride there but there are several other ride types as far as rumours report. Personally a Hagrid's type ride in an Endor land would be out of this world (no pun intended)
TBH Star Wars in WDS never made sense to me, when there’s a perfect spot behind Discoveryland. Also, moving the entrance to Star Tours behind the berm would allow to finally fix the theme of the currently pretty messy backside of Discoveryland. I dream of a properly steampunk Discoveryland Station. And opening a full new Star Wars land in DLP would be a great and long needed relaunch of the main park.
Honestly the Star Tours entrance doesn't bother me THAT much and I mean, how could would it be for you to travel from Discoveryland to the Star Wars land with Star Tours? Just open up a new exit into the land and it could be the perfect transition!
@themainstreetnews that would be awesome, but probably a logistical nightmare (i’m thinking mainly people with strollers). But in that case they could theme the facade to Coruscant, and would fit better in the Discoveryland aesthetic than we have today. Currently the Discoveryland Station/Star Tours/Discoveryland Theatre area just looks bland, unthemed and industrial in the boring way.
@ there would obviously need to have some workaround and the exit back to Discoveryland would remain there too! Just an idea 😄 I do agree that the facade could be much better and theming it co Coruscant could be an amazing way to somehow fit both sides. Crazy to think the first time Coruscant appeared on screen that Star Tours had been there for years…
@themainstreetnews Star Wars does not belong in Discoveryland. Disneyland Park needs to stay true to the steampunk Jules Verne theming which details the timelessness of what the future could have been from the late 19th century perspective. Bring back Space Mountain: From the Earth to the Moon and revive the proposed attractions Journey to the Center of the Earth and Horizons.
@@samuelwitwicky3900 Star Wars has been in Discoveryland since its opening in 1992 lol. This rumored expansion would be outside the railway tracks, where the awful pizza planet restaurant used to be located. This would allow to move the Star Tour entrance on the current backside of the building, properly enclosing this new Star Wars Land in its own bubble.
I think another reason for the change comes down to capacity. The park has only one truly high-capacity ride: Ratatouille (about 2200 riders per hour). The Tower of Terror and Flight Force are both about 1600 people per hour. The Road Trip thing is probably really high, but it also never fills up so it doesn't matter. After that, things get really bad. Spider-Man is estimated to be about 1000 per hour. And I think everything else is under 1000 per hour, which is what happens when most of your rides are tarted-up carnival rides. Frozen Ever After isn't going to help much as it's also about 1000 per hour. (At first, Tokyo DisneySea refused to build it thanks to its horrible throughput. That's why their version is not a clone of the Epcot original.) Maybe this doesn't sound important for an unpopular park, but it averages about 15,000 guests a day. Open about 12 hours a day, that means about 12,000 people will get to ride Frozen Ever After when it opens. That number is NOT equal to 15,000. And 15,000 is the AVERAGE. In summer it gets way more people than that. Maximum capacity is 24,000, so only 50% of the people visiting on a busy summer day will be able to ride the new attraction. That's what happened to Rise of the Resistance. While allegedly able to hit 1700ish riders per hour, constant problems meant the ride was barely doing 1000. It was already a questionable choice as Disneyland can hold 85,000 people, so even at 2000 people per hour, the ride wasn't going to accommodate everyone. The thinking was, "Well, Disneyland is a two-day park anyhow!" Except many people were going for two days, and still weren't getting on the ride. People visiting the park for three days weren't riding. Disney's Hollywood Studios, with a 60,000 max capacity, was having similar issues. Opening new rides means parks can increase max capacity, but Frozen and Resistance weren't going to allow them to increase it by much. Also, it's just going to be way cheaper to build. Someone who worked on Rise of the Resistance claims it cost about $450 million. Which explains why this Galaxy's Edge would've been so cheap.
Thats a very good point. I was able to count 1200pph in WEB Adventure and 908pph in Crush. Indeed the park has several rides with awful capacity and both Frozen and Lion King will have huge hourly capacities. I’m not sure what the numbers will be but for Lion I think we can expect something in the realm of 2000+, seeing how large the boats will be with 3 people per row
As a French, they only explanation is MONEY. Galaxy edge is very expensive to build, we all know that. Dlp can’t build millenium falcon because of all européen language so they should have build Rise of the resistance. But rise cost 500 000 000 dollars 😅 and the complete studio expansion cost 2 000 000 000. Rise is just too expensive. Lion king will be a cheap land, 1 ride ( who is already in every park ),easy to build and cheap -> splash montain lion king. Without universal in Europe, there is no competition to Disneyland Paris, so they can continue to keep adding cheap land just to maintain guest. Ex : Avengers campus, spider man is one of the newest cheapest attraction of all time, Fligh force is just the same ride as rock n roller, with bad theming inside. The only expensive things here is Iron man animatronics. Frozen land 1 attraction, who is already in Epcot -> easy to build, cheap because it’s not new, and reliable. I beg universal to come in Britain soon. It will shake DLP, and just like in Orlando or Florida, they will need to invest more and better for compete. And even with R&D for splash montain lion king, the cost is still far behind the cost of Rise. Maybe I am wrong, but as a ancient cast member of DLP, choice here are always made because of money, and flight force is the BEST exemple of that. (every cast member knew that flight lack of theming will be a big disappointment among the guest, and we all knew that was because of money)
“Rise of the Resistance” cost $250mil. The $500mil was due to Disney building two of them. “The Lion King” is not a Splash Mountain clone, and the show building is proof. Also, Universal Studios is only going to appeal to the British market. The most successful European theme parks are themed to fairytales and fantasy.
I read that RotR needs a lot of spending in maintenance. In addition the new Disney trilogy in which is the ride based is hated for a lot of fans. Maybe if it was themed in Tatooine and the OT...
I do really expect DLP to fill this year permits and docs about new LionKing land. Also, hope (as always..) masterplan to main Park with new retheme of shops and restaurant to include Moana, new Indiana Jones mini land and new Star wars Mandalorian land “beyond spacemountain” Per 2030 jajajaja that is the most realistic thing I could think about it. Also new Little Mermaid and Beauty&Beast addition to Fantasyland. Neither think about Avatar land, more realistic copy Carsland
I could see making an attraction based on The Lion King. Splash Mountain with the Lion King instead of Song of the South, but a complete land? Star Wars was a powerhouse until Disney got their hands on it. The merchandise that sells is the original STAR WARS, not Disney's Star Wars.
I think it simply comes down to the fact that Galaxies Edge has been less successful than the Disney executives hoped and a lot of it is just a big shopping centre, and the Americans (on average) spend more on merchandise than the Europeans so putting in a Star Wars land just doesn’t make sense from a Business perspective, that’s all.
It won’t be cheaper in the end as they need to develop the ride technology, new animatronics, design the whole land, etc. Rise, while being one of the most expensive rides to build, would’ve been a clone, everything when it comes to research and development is done, this won’t be the case.
Looking forward to it but still an odd choice to go for another water drop ride next to frozen. I just hope we still get stars wars elsewhere on the rumoured discoveryland extension
Indeed, these will have two different types of guest. It's like saying that Splash Mountain shouldn't have been built because of Pirates of the Caribbean in Magic Kingdom. However, I do understand your point that there needs to be more ride types in the park but if we take a step back, there isn't any boat ride in Studios yet while there are 2 coasters (3 if you count RC), 2 drop towers, 3 flat rides, one interactive shooter, one trackless and whatever Road Trip is.
On a somewhat related note has there been an explanation why the completely out of place Twilight Zone Tower of Terror sitting at the entrance of entrance of Avengers Campus hasn’t been re themed to the Guardians of the Galaxy? Is the Twilight Zone really such a popular IP in continental Europe?
Lion King is a better pick than Star Wars especially because Star Wars is already in 2 parks and Lion King isn’t anywhere else. I’m so excited for Lion King Land!
I’d love to see an avatar land based on the second movie (way of water) as the 3rd land around the lake. Would be just as gorgeous as the land in Florida but at least it will still be unique having lots more water involved and the design updated to be more like the 2nd movie. Would love to see a ride similar to flight of passage there, and a launched vekoma flying coaster going all throughout the rockwork & scenery, all around the water and around pathways, could even have a restaurant made to feel underwater with aquariums all around you
Disney California Adventure is getting a Pandora based on “Avatar: The Way of Water”. Meaning, if Disneyland Paris/Disney Adventure World were to eventually receive a Pandora, it would be themed after a later film.
Star Wars land feels so lifeless. There's no genetic energy or anything to care about. They could easily switch Kylo Ren to Darth Vader and instantly make it better. Lion King is the smarter choice. It's more timeless.
“The Lion King” has the potential to be Walt Disney Studios/Disney Adventure World’s equivalent to Cars Land. A premier immersive land that is exclusive to that theme park. Cars Land is what saved Disney California Adventure, because it was so unique, and can only be found there. “The Lion King” is a multigenerational phenomenon with iconic music. Part of issue Galaxy’s Edge is that it is the exact same in both California and Florida. While also being too fussy, and was not built for casual theme park guests. Imagineers cares too much about canon, instead of focusing on building fun rides.
Well said! I think Lion King will have room to expand into an even better land, that first area is pretty bare and could have a flat ride or better theming however I really do think it'll surprise us all when it comes to the ride itself. The park needs a Radiator Spring Racers type of successful ride!
@@ChienaAvtzon i still hope they’ll eventually bring Cars Land to DAW (still not used to the new name), it’s a really awesome land, and would be an incredible anchor to the pixar area of the park.
@@conigliostressato - I can see Disney potentially bringing a reskinned version of the “Cars” mini-land going into Magic Kingdom to Paris, rather than replicating Cars Land from DCA. That version is rumored to be a trackless, driverless off-road rally race. Unless Disney were to reskin Radiator Springs Racers into Sugar Rush, and build a land around that.
@ iirc Quatre Ruoes Rallye has a similar ride system of Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree (Zamperla Demolition Derby), albeit with less connected turntables. They could just move it and retheme it and call it a day.
the new land sound great but having the pride lands of Africa in France seems strange, its gonna be wierd when its pouring in rain and freezing cold or snowy, that's why Star Wars felt better it doesn't require the weather to help the theming. it will be interesting to see, I mean its one film and one story how do you expand on one ride, Star Wars has so many directions they can go to expand.
I still say they should build Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge at a later date. There's plenty of room for another land in the park, and it's still a very popular IP among the general public.
I would have preferred Star Wars, because the ride is one of the best in the world, and a more adult area, in contrast to Frozen. But I must say that the chosen area looks very well integrated, it has enormous musical potential, and it will be unique, I mean, much better than I imagined... and if Star Wars comes to the castle park, then perfect.
If lucasfilm can sort themselves out then they’ll be in a position to give the people what made them and what people want, George Lucas’ Star Wars. The park is calling for a hagrids motorbike styled Star Wars themed rollercoaster. Speeders or pod racers spring to mind
I like new things like a Lion King land and attraction, but the Star Wars fan inside me NEEDS Rise of The Resistance in Europe. It is the best Ride I've ever been on!
Rise is an amazing ride, a full experience even. That said, I think Galaxy's Edge taking place in one moment in time (the sequels out of all too) was one of the biggest mistakes they did. A fluid timeline land with a great ride, meets and more would be awesome.
Both themes are very popular in Europe. They should not compete with each other. Both must be built. But it would be better if instead of Batuu they theme the Star Wars land as Tatooine or Coruscant and there are the popular characters like Darth Vader.
@@jamesl1130 - Actually, Tiana was picked because of Anaheim’s New Orleans Square. “Pocahontas” was the ideal fit for Magic Kingdom, as that Splash Mountain is in Frontierland.
Disney bet on their trilogy being better than the original trilogy, that arrogance resulted in 2 one billion dollar land that are waisted and most SW fans wouldn't want to visit or spent money in. It's another attempt to get a Harry Potter like land without understanding what makes Potter so good. At least The (original) Lion King is Disney from a time they where actually good and not an IP they bought and ruined.
I agree to an extent. For me, the biggest and worst decision when it came to Galaxy’s Edge was not recreating a location people know and love AND have it locked in time so that only a few characters can appear. They’ve since loosen the timeline a bit and we’ve seen Mando and Boba Fett appear, which is a good start. The lack of kinetic energy and animation makes the land feel dead and not lived in, which contrasts with all the theming that looks incredible and real
I am a Disney OG fan, so Star Wars and marvel has always been so unexciting for me. There is just no emotional connection for me so lion king all the way.
Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if Star Wars just flat out isn't that popular in Europe to begin with. The big mistake people (including Disney themselves) can make with Star Wars, is that they buy into the hype a bit too much and think it is more popular than it actually is.
I don’t think that’s necessarily the case. Star Wars is very big, especially in France and Germany but also many other countries. I have little doubts that in some years we’ll see the return of SW in a new form.
@@themainstreetnews - But it is the case, and the box-office break down by region has proved it. The prequels never outgrossed “Harry Potter”, despite being from the same era. While, “Indiana Jones” was more popular in the 70s and 80s. “Star Wars” is not very popular in Europe, it flopped in “Asia”, and is overhyped in the USA. The popular and profitable sy-fy franchise currently is “Avatar”, and Bob Iger (and the rest of Disney) is fully aware of it. As an American, I would not be surprised if “The Mandalorian and Grogu” is the final “Star Wars” film ever made. Disneyland Paris might receive that mini-Galaxy’s Edge in the future, but mainly due to the rumored ride being a roller coaster.
I think that galaxies edge just performed poorly because of how it’s locked to the timeline of the least popular trilogy, and Disney thought the lack of guest interest was because of the brand not the era of the brand
Not shure with the lion king area.. maybe is cheaper to build but another water ride together in a mostly rainy park doesn't fit for me. Something like Zootopia or the Londonier Mary Poppins cancelled ride from Epcot would fit better but of course is more expensive to build. Not very excited with the expansion really.
Shows how little you know about the canceled “Mary Poppins” ride. It was a tea-cup spinner, not a dark ride. Boat rides are actually one of the most expensive versions of a dark ride, due to the plumbing for the water systems.
I can see two main reasons 1 the lion king is incredibly powerful in france and 2 other than pirates of the Caribbean the park doesn't really have a water ride that gets you wet for them hot Paris summers
@@themainstreetnews I know, and i was there in the opening year as a four year old child. But you know what wasn't there? A Park called Wald Disney Studios Park. I know that they rename it adventure world which shows how creatively bankrupt they are. But with the other park right around the corner they can go full star wars there and go all in with the greatness that is discoveryland. Unfortunately all the great ideas for discoveryland went to tokyo.
Star Wars continues to be one of the biggest franchises from The Walt Disney Company, in fact last year it brought in more than 1 billion $ in merchandise alone. Mando and Grogu will be the defining test in how audiences actually connect (or not) with the franchise and I think it'll surprise quite a bit.
@ the Interaction in the rides and shops, also gastro and bars are completely different. I experienced booth lands in America and it wouldn’t work here in Paris. The Paris team is not able to handle is amount of different language speaking cast members for all needed languages here in the middle of Europe. - your arguments in the video are not wrong. But the real reason was the multilingual citizens and guest of Europe in the resort.
Thank you. I too have experienced Galaxy’s Edge and I seriously think that it wouldn’t be difficult when it comes to the language barrier to operate what they had in mind for Paris. Millennium Falcon would be the biggest problem as the 6 people need to interact with each other, that’s not present here. The only thing I could see be the smallest inconvenience would be the color selection on the loading of Rise, but they do something similar in all the major rides with the numbers (ToT, Space, Pirates…..). The lightsaber experience would be troublesome, not present, the droid experience could be too, also not present. Rise would need to be reworked to have two different audio tracks, one in French and one in English, just like Remy, but it’s an easy task in the end. I just don’t see language being in the top issues and reasons for its cancellation knowing what they were planning to build.

This is done just thinking in USA guests....but as European I really wanted the Star Wars land. Really a shame. Besides the construction and changes in DLP take almost forever. Conclusion if Disney wanted more USA guests in DLP is perfect but if Disney wanted to secure that europeans go more frequently it wasn't the good choice.
Europeans are into “Avatar” not “Star Wars”, when it comes to Disney’s syfy franchises. Not to mention, Lucasfilm still has not turned a profit for Disney. There is no incentive to ever invest another cent into it, due to diminishing returns. Whereas, “The Lion King” prints money due to its enormous success.
@ as European I can tell you that we are very much more into Star Wars than avatar. Also I can tell you and you can see on different platforms that the news about a lion king land were not very well received in here for the DLP annual passes. People in here wanted something like the Beauty and the beast ride in Tokio or Rise of the resistance but not a lion king water ride. Anyway at this point any improvements on the studios park are good but to be clear they have not done this thinking in Europeans at all.
@@ana_rodriguez - Hate break it to you, but the box-office backs up my statement. Typical of a “Star Wars” fan to fail to realize that franchise is not as popular as it seems, nor is the internet indicative of real life. Lucasfilm has not yet turned a profit for Disney, because the sequel trilogy and Galaxy’s Edge lost money. This is not up for debate, because numbers do not lie.
@@ana_rodriguez - As for “Beauty and the Beast”, that iteration of the ride is exclusive to Tokyo Disneyland. It is never going to be replicated anywhere in the world, due to an exclusivity clause between the OLC and WDC. Disneyland Paris is more likely to receive the original plan from the 1990s, than a “Beauty and the Beast” ride.
@@ChienaAvtzon and I hate to break it to you too but one thing is the numbers on films box-office's and another what DLP annual passes want for DLPs expansions, but if you want to think that you know better what we want it is up to you. honestly prefer the lion king, especially in that location in the resort. the renaissance era needs more representation in DLP anyway

Definitely agree! I'd love to see other films from the era follow suit with Beauty and the Beast and The Little Mermaid!
Absolutely! When they built DLP they didn't even realise they were in the middle of the renaissance!
@@themainstreetnewsyesss! The new beauty and the best dark ride in Tokyo would fit perfectly in dlp main park
Yea totally I wish they brought back that whole Tarzan attraction and they should bring in some attractions like Treasure Planet and Atlantis.
Tatooine, Hoth, and Endor would've been sick! 😢
Lion King is a better pick to bolster Disney Adventure World. Especially encouraging international guests
The 30-year-old animated feature is still better than any of their current animated features and failed attempt at STAR WARS.
They certainly tease something of that sort with the animals going up the mountain, I hope they’re not just THERE!
But it’s the crappy remake it’s gonna be based on. How can anyone be excited for that? It’s not even the original animated GOAT
it’s not the remake.
They definitely messed that up. They needed the restaurant.
@@beardedgeekescapades3469 Oga's at Disneyland.
Animal Kingdom needs a Lion King ride
I still think this ride should have been placed in Disneyland Park considering they haven’t had a new attraction or land for 20 years now. I think a moana coaster (similar to Everest) should have been the 2nd land around Adventure Bay.
This would indeed fit Adventureland quite well. I do like that Everest moana ride, could be something like "The Fall to the Monster Realm" with some great dark scenes too!
What's 2 land?
@@gregr3720 sorry meant “2nd land”
@@themainstreetnewsAny rumours on the main park getting any new rides? It’s not acceptable for a Disney park to go this long without a new addition 👀
There's no space in Disneyland for that.
Star wars is not always the answer for every disney park in the world
Lion king is, like you mentioned.
Can't wait for this! 🦁🌊
Great video bro!
Thanks! You’re always here right after I post 😄
Do you think changes could be made to Galaxy's Edge to make it better?
How do you expect Disney to revolutionize a log flume ride?
Whilst I enjoy both, I think having the Lion King is ultimately better because
A) it's never been represented anywhere before
B) its a nice visual to have two mountains, one snowy the other dry.
@
Oh yeah I completely agree. Something original would be great. A roller coaster would be a good fit, but they would 100% have to revert hyperspace mountain back as the two would be very close to each other.
Sounds like a win win to me! 😅
I feel like lion king land has vibes that fit DLP better and the parks don't have a water ride yet (if that is even what it is)
TBH Star Wars in WDS never made sense to me, when there’s a perfect spot behind Discoveryland.
Just an idea 😄
I do agree that the facade could be much better and theming it co Coruscant could be an amazing way to somehow fit both sides.
If they made it Tattooine instead with the original Cantina, Jabbas Palace etc people would come from all over the world
I read that RotR needs a lot of spending in maintenance. In addition the new Disney trilogy in which is the ride based is hated for a lot of fans. Maybe if it was themed in Tatooine and the OT...
I hope there comes a star wars land behind star tours.
I am 100000000000000% certain that the ride will eventually find its way to Animal Kingdom in the Africa section by 2032.
Account the economy
I’m in Germany. Star Wars needs to go to Discovery. It makes sense. US parks missed that opportunity with Tomorrowland
I’m really here for Star Wars behind discoveryland where the two rides already are. That makes such sense and I hope it happens!
I could see making an attraction based on The Lion King. Splash Mountain with the Lion King instead of Song of the South, but a complete land?
Star Wars was a powerhouse until Disney got their hands on it. The merchandise that sells is the original STAR WARS, not Disney's Star Wars.
Both are perfect 👍
I would have prefered the star wars land to be built than the Lion King. Wonder if it is a cheaper option?
Frozen Ever After is not a trill ride. The drop is not very tall.
Lion King looks great. It makes sense to put Galaxy Edge next to Star Tours, if it ever happens.
Short answer to the title, because lion king is actually Disney lol
Lion King is a better pick than Star Wars especially because Star Wars is already in 2 parks and Lion King isn’t anywhere else. I’m so excited for Lion King Land!
They have the Lion King show at Disney Land Paris and it's always popular
I still think it would be much better suited to the Disneyland Park, but I appreciate that that WDS needs the expansion more.
That's very true, the land would be a great replacement of Indiana Jones Temple of Peril
I still get your videos in my home feed so no need to subscribe bro! Good video
Now I really understand that I wish that Pandora the world of Avatar would fit better
Replacing Road Trip with a Cars Land (even if smaller and with just the Spring Racers + relocating the Quatre Roues Rally flat) would be perfect
Because no one cares about the Sequel Trilogy and Disney refuses to use the og Star Wars.
Would be cool to take the angle of "The Lion King is a local myth" and set that up in a pre-show
How would The Lion King be a local myth in France?
They should bring cosmic rewind or the new monster ag
They could’ve done a different planet from Star Wars like Nevarro from Mandalorian in edition to having Milinium Falcon Smugglers run
to me Lion King feels like it should be at animal kingdom and star wars should be at Disneyland Paris
That's exactly what I've been saying for months. It a Hagrid's SW coaster in an Endor land would be crazy!
If they make Rise of the Rebellion at Disneyland Paris with Darth Vader instead of Kylo Ren, the people will flock to DLP.
Both themes are very popular in Europe. They should not compete with each other. Both must be built. But it would be better if instead of Batuu they theme the Star Wars land as Tatooine or Coruscant and there are the popular characters like Darth Vader.
I just want more from the land. I hate this 1/2 rides equals a land. Let's get some flats in there, and a lower budget dark ride.
It feels like the Lion King log ride was green lighted only to attempt to convince Tokyo to alter Splash Mountain in the future
Japan hates “The Lion King”. The rumor is that Tokyo’s Splash Mountain is getting a “Pocahontas” retheme.
@@ChienaAvtzonPocahontas is a much better fit for Anaheim as well
@@jamesl1130 - Actually, Tiana was picked because of Anaheim’s New Orleans Square.

I feel like a fully imersive original Little Mermaid dark ride would be an incredible addition.
Well that was in their original plans all the way back in 92...
Good. Star wars has had too much love for years now.
is it offical?
Yes
I think that galaxies edge just performed poorly because of how it’s locked to the timeline of the least popular trilogy, and Disney thought the lack of guest interest was because of the brand not the era of the brand
It is both a lack of interest in the brand and sequels. The franchise was never as successful as “Star Wars” fans believe.
I think the 3rd park should be Star Wars.. Build a Tron behind Discoveryland and something new and exciting across the lake from the lion king!
Honestly, I prefer the lion king, but not in this park.
Because no one wants a fake star wars land. Lion King > Disney wars
Lion king for sure
Disney' rare smart moves
Because Galaxies Edge theme sucks! The sequels were horrible and Disney insisted on putting them in our eyes!
When will it open? 2029?
Disney is eying an opening year of 2028, as per rumours, but it comes down to when works start (which Disney had said it’ll next year)
Star Wars all the way! That would have so much potential.
because Lion King is awesome. End of story
Lion King land i can not wait to visit
Star Wars 😢
No no no no no no no!!!!! Keep star wars out of Disneyland Park.
Star Wars has been a part of Disneyland Park since day one 😅
@@themainstreetnews I know, and i was there in the opening year as a four year old child. But you know what wasn't there? A Park called Wald Disney Studios Park. I know that they rename it adventure world which shows how creatively bankrupt they are. But with the other park right around the corner they can go full star wars there and go all in with the greatness that is discoveryland. Unfortunately all the great ideas for discoveryland went to tokyo.
Star Wars is no longer beloved. In fact, it's become an embarrassment of a franchise; Kathleen Kennedy saw to that.
Long story short: Because we are speaking 20 different languages in Europe and it would not work here as in America.
Why would that matter that much? You have speaking based rides like Ratatouille that work perfectly, it would be the same with Star Wars
Well Star Wars is what Disney ruined... (I Mean Disney should've never brought Lucasfilm and 21st Century Fox)
Beloved IP that Disney hasn’t ruined yet vs Beloved IP that Disney already ruined
Africa does need representation
lol
Bring the LION KING land firm Paris to Animal Kingdom, And the Flume Ride needs to be in the form of this.
Intamin Flume

It's rumoured to have that ride system
@ 😲😃
Star wars will sell more merch
I think Lion King is a better pick. The Star Wars Franchise has massive Problems….
You are from Europe? Do you have a DLP annual pass? How frequently do you come to DLP?
Remember star wars is a movie not a billion dollar franchise
Batu is poorly designed and realized, designed by imagineers who were not enthusiastic about having tl design the land in that way.
