Oh boy do I love standing in the heat for 1 hour in a uniform for a participation award.

Wish I got to stand in the heat, I stood in 20 degree weather with almost 20mph winds for an hour lol. I love heat now
And waiting for finals after our performance? Tell me about it! I'm from Waxahachie, having a competition year two years in a row was quite exhausting! But the memories we had were amazing, especially when you have a solar powered charger! Definitely use those when you have to go to BOA or UIL!
@@HarrisGalijatovic Where I live this august had record breaking temps at 118 august 5th so it is VERY hot in some places.
When ur band has had the same uniform for over 50 years but some get new ones every year

I was there until like, 10? It literally started raining after my bands show (Waterscapes) it was in finals (though, since we're a small school, we obviously didn't place in finals) and so in my band, it's a joke that we "Won finals" since we were the only band to completely preform their entire show.

I'm happy with all 6 drum majors that we had, even though the results weren't what we expected them to be, I still think that we did an amazing performance, we will get better and show others how great we are!!!! DUNCANVILLEEEEE
Man, I'm jealous. In L.A our band is one of the bigger ones and we only have 66 members ( including guard which has 6 members). We're lucky we even have a drum major...

Those were THE BEST UNIFORMS EVER!
And they had the MOST creative salute!
It was a theme in their show....Virtual reality headgear. They played some of the music from Endgame movie. The Aledo High school band is one of my favorites here in North Texas.

Our school is so poor, our uniforms aren’t even from our school😂. One school was getting new ones so we got the old ones as they had our same school colors and just slapped on our schools emblem on the shoulders

Have y'all ever seen 6 to 5 military marching bands? They're pretty cool!
My high school marching band follows some of the traditions of the university in our town. Each year, the salutes change, but what's consistent about them is that both the HS's and university's salutes have a lean (like you're playing limbo) and a split-fall (at the end). It's really cool!

Why do some of these schools have so many drum majors? Honestly 3 fits the bill for most bands just fine
Many of the really large Texas 4A groups will have 300+ kids covering the entire field end zone to end zone, and modern show design has multiple flanks constantly reversing from front field to back field meaning you need on-field conductors in every corner of the field at all times.

I hope I get to perform. All previous competitions I was a reserve (alternate performer) member in my band. But now I'm off reserves, and I'm so very excited. Good luck at the super regional.
EDIT: I got to perform, and it was amazing. It was cold and very windy outside, and hot and smelly inside, but it was good.

nah, those are just the people who conduct the bands on the feild, guard captain is just the leader of the gaurd? they dont do much directing wise
Its kinda weird, I was at boa nothern cali a few days ago and at that and every over competition salutes are with guard captains.
It was the prelims awards ceremony so there wasn’t any space for guard

Jackson Wilson it probably had something to do with their show or maybe there were multiple layers for in music costume changes. Or yes, maybe they didn't have a budget.
They dont receive any money from the district which is dumb. Most of their stuff is handmade by parents and with fundraising money... this is sad...

Am I the only one bugged by the show-specific cheap uniforms that so many programs run? I understand permanent uniforms are expensive but they’re a worthy investment when those temporary ones look so poor-fitting and awkward.

2:29 No matter how big the band is or whatever the case, I feel like 6 drum majors is WAY overdoing it.
It’s like their band director couldn’t decide and if he picked one, the other mommy’s and daddy’s would get mad at him. The most drum majors we’ve had in our band in 1 season is 2 and that was 2 years ago. I feel that the max for a high school is either 2 or 3, depending on the size of the band.
Honestly you’re overthinking it... Those 6 were drum majors.. and the reason why we have six drum majors is because of the size of our band (6A).. let that soak in your head of yours☺️
