God some people are making harsh picky comments. This band is utterly amazing, this is very hard to play live and get all the parts right, let's not forget Donald F is considered a genius for good reason and he is totally obsessive with the recording process. Even if there is post-live processing it isn't sampled and delivers us a great result. Well done everyone you should be extremely proud.

@@TNKeys Absolutely Truth. This is all effing LIVE!!!!! I can't imagine how many takes were used in creating any one of these songs. You guys are completely amazing. Thank you for taking some of the most complex pop/jazz and bringing it to life. And with some joy and chutzpah! Donald seems always depressed and pissed on stage, yet the music has so much to give!

This band is as good or better than any group Donald Fagen has taken on tour. Impeccable balance, not a nuance left behind. They don’t miss a thing.

This whole band is just unbelievable but the drummer is so machine accurate I'd swear it wasn't real. So good.
He was the first i noticed in this performance. And then there's Gary and Mark. I've heard them on a lot of Christian recordings since the 80s! Whenever I would buy a tape of CD back then, I would look at album credits and when I see their names, it's practically a buy for me. I wasn't a bassist then, but i noticed Gary had a tone i couldn't find elsewhere. And Mark's note choices would always evoke a nice feeling.

By the way, is John H. related to the drummer Mark Hammond who was also playing drums in those 80s Christian albums?
I mean I agree the drummer is amazing but they are on a click. That explains the metronomic precision.
These folks have balls of steel to cover this technical masterpiece. Very impressive. A Who's Who of greats played the original... Jeff Porcaro, Marcus Miller, Larry Carlton, etc.
Larry Carlton not too proud to play with these guys right on that very stage that very night. And these guys are all top notch session cats themselves. So, yeah, they are every bit as good as whoever was used on the record or in Fagen's touring bands.
Incredible! Best cover ever, especially lead vocals ... and Fagan is hard to cover, if not impossible. Also the drummer: great backbeat, very consistent! And... the whole band, BRAVO!
Excellent! Most SD cover bands disappoint due to the rhythm section not being able to duplicate the extremely simple yet elusive grooves.. This band's rhythm section has it going on , and the results speak for themselves. Bravo!
Roy , definitely not simple grooves, as we know SD needed the best studio drummers to achieve these grooves.
No the drummer hasn't got the feel right, no light and dark and its just not there, somethings not quite right, but the rest of the band is awesome...

Bass arrangement almost perfect but not exactly the same, some of the fills (like the very first one @ 1:24 and again 1:42-45) are a bit different and at least one guitar part, like @ 3:48, where there should be a a double stops/chordal guitar phrase, but overall I say the tune's essence and feeling are there...and 'Essence' as far as Steely Dan and Donald Fagen go, means as close as humanly possible to the original, unless one is making a 'version' (as opposed to a 'cover', which is the case here).

I'm the biggest steely dan fan. Saw them in Philly at the met 2019. I'm telling you now, you guys are great. I love it
That vocalists pitch is absolutely incredible. I never heard anyone hit the middle of the notes so exactly great job
It almost sounds like a bit of auto-tune was used on the lead vocals, either way his pitching is great!

All of these musicians and vocalists must be studio professionals who figured out there is a market for this style of music. people who love SD and Donald Fagen music would come out and pay to see this recreated so precisely... also props to the engineer who record this on site, it sounds perfect...

Totally nailed the bass part which I consider very hard to get right, not because it's technically difficult but because of the timing. It's got feel that is hard to get right. Great job.

An amazing capture of the vibe and big sound of the Dan. Bassman and drummer are rock solid as one. Vocals are superb as are lead guitar solos.

Not Steely Dan formally. It's Fagen's brilliant Solo Album that he spent I think two years producing after the Steely Dan sessions which was almost a year in the making called Gaucho...
That drummer’s right hand is as on the money as you’ll get. Brilliant.

This might the best thing I've seen all year, certainly the best cover of the most difficult song ever written. AND, what a GREAT VOICE. It just makes the whole experience so pleasurable. I am a very very harsh critic ordinarily, but I find myself utterly FLUMMOXED at the talent here. Gee whiz, happy happy days...

This is absolutely tremendous. To capture the essence of those mad scientists, and nail it, is a tremendous feet. I’ve heard this at least 10 times. The lead guy has a nice rasp to his voice, and the BGV’s are crushing. This is just very well done 5/5⭐️

I stayed in the same building as Donald Fagen for a while in the 80s. He was a great neighbour. I guess that might surprise some of you, but in his own element he can be remarkably good company. We became good friends and he was very encouraging to me as a fellow musician. The best piece of advice he ever gave me was to recommend the wearing of moleskin pants. He swore by them then and probably still does. He sets great store by comfort. I’ve been wearing them ever since with no regrets. I also believe their anti-viral qualities protected me thru Covid. Yes, there is undoubtedly post-production work done on this to make it sparkle. Who cares? The band is tightAF! That rhythm section is 1000% locked in and I guarantee would still be the same live, this performance is played perfectly, and good luck finding another group that will sound this good live even without any editing- I'd wager you wouldn't ever get it this on point. I would've been in ecstacy if I heard this live, it still would be the best you could hear this outside of the man himself and his band playing it.

Incredibly good. When I first heard The Nightfly in 1982, I thought every other band fails to achieve the excellence of the sound and composition that Becker/Fagen did.
I still think that today. I have Citizen Steely Dan 4cd set, which spans 1972-1980. Each track is magnificant in composition and sound.
A crisp, highly classy effort - the keys and vocals were the highlights.
