@calvincanada4723 Last year, he hit the wall at Pocono (I think) and got a concussion that ultimately led to the end of his racing career. This new car arguably doesn't have the same capability to protect drivers from rear end collisions like the last generation of car which is likely why his concussion was so bad. So basically, he was having a career resurgence, had no plans to retire, and that was all taken away from him due to a new car not being as "safe" as the old one. So what did he give up, his career and ability to race again.
I honestly think there might be more to it than that. His divorce happened not long before the wreck and not long after he flirted with retirement…… quite possibly Ashley gave him an ultimatum, he chose his career, only to have it taken from him anyway…… obviously I could be wrong but that’s the thing, nobody knows these guys 100% personally
@@cak5171 I don't really think that was the answer to the question. The Pocono crash crossed my mind when I first saw it, but it isn't a direct answer to the question imo.
I don't think he'll come back to run a full season. Could be wrong. He doesn't have anything to prove. I mean it's not like he stayed around for too long having lack luster years. Every organization he ever drove for he upped their game. He's made his mark in Nascar as one of the all time Greats and a Champion 🏆.
If you had told me in around 2010 that Kurt Busch would be so beloved by fans in 2023 i would say you are out of your mind. Its been amazing to watch his villain arc turn into a hero arc.
You could lowkey say the same thing about Kyle Busch recently too tbh. His move to Chevy & RCR definitely has people looking at him in a different & more respectable light
So much real emotion from Kurt, bout made me tear up. I like the videos Nascar puts out humanizing the drivers, making them feel more personable and relatable
I started to tear up 😢 when Kurt Busch looked at the sign that said "What did you give up to be here". I wish for him a full recovery and the opportunity to get back in a race car soon.
To Kurt Busch: Kurt we WANT to see you back. You’ve been through more than anyone in the field and I know family life and other aspects of your life have been affected throughout your career. Kurt a lot of fans can relate to that and we respect what you’ve been through and want to see you back behind the wheel to finish this thing on your terms. You’ve earned that and deserve it. Keep fighting my friend
Damn! That was outstanding work! Fox took big steps forward in coverage this season, and then to see this! Love it! Drive to Survive and the contrived drama of F1 has nothing on the real life battles of NASCAR. Thank you for conveying it.
Excellent short film! Absolutely appreciate hearing the drivers perspective and learning more about the mentality of these drivers on and off the track. Well done!
They probably would get a lot of views if they made more videos like this which they should and this might be better that race for a championship series
@Nascar let the drivers know that they are not alone in the struggle , the fact they are so willing to be so vulnerable is awesome , I have a question if they could go back in time to talk to their younger selves what would they say ( I have aspbergers which is a socionormative disorder and Nascar helped me bcoz it let’s me get in tune with my creative 3rd eye ) I turned my dad onto the sport in 2020 ( I’m a fan since 2011)
Kurt Busch man. I think he’s one of the well liked people involved in NASCAR right now. I’d like to see a poll. We saw him have a full turn around in life. Amazing
Bear in mind at Circuit of the Americas 2023 Kurt commentated Tyler Reddick scoring his first win for 23XI in the 45, the car Kurt had to surrender due to that concussion If you watch the final restart you'll hear him get choked up. He's happy for sure, but you can tell how much he misses racing and how much 23XI left an impression on him
We need a Kurt Busch documentary asap!
Good on you Kurt for not answering that one. I felt that. We are here for you.
can you explain what happened to not make him want to answer? I was confused on that one

@DaveFerguson-vh5fn yea fair point. Nevertheless difficult to see him leave under the circumstances

So happy to see Kurt get represented. I pray he comes back and has the opportunity to go out on his terms in some capacity.
Honestly, he's my favorite driver, just I doubt he'll come back, im pretty sure he's mostly done now

I started to tear up when Kurt Busch reacted to "What did I give up to be here". I hope he fully recovers and gets to race again.
@@camdeskjockey2355same, you can see he wants to drive again so bad
Phew. That moment with Kurt, almost got me there.
It totally got me there. That is rough. I am not even a Kurt Busch fan, but damn... That one hurt.
I almost cried that was tough to watch .
@@timmannchicken Same reaction from me- brought me to tears.

He gave up everything end up not be able to race again and lost his marriage all in the same month I don’t blame home for not answering
Kurt has always worn his heart on his sleeve, but this was gut-wrenching. He wants back in the car so bad. I have faith that he will.
I feel so bad for Kurt. I wish I could hug him. He didn’t have to say anything. We know buddy, and we love you.
Kurt’s emotions on the questions made me so sad knowing what happened to him last year.

This may be better than race for the championship

Absolutely amazing piece. Beautifully shot, colored and edited. Need more stuff like this
more videos like this please.
This is the type of docuseries that we need to rival f1s show. Masterclass production
Ouch i felt something with kurts scenes. 23XI next year let kurt drive the 67 in the daytona 500. If hes cleared of course
They probably would get a lot of views if they made more videos like this which they should and this might be better that race for a championship series
Love this kind of content. Keep making stuff like this please
I like the longer form content
Ty Dillion sounds like he was ready to burst into tears at the drop of a hat…
I want a Kurt docu-series now!
Heart-wrenching…
I have been a big fan of Kurt bush since 2016 and he is my favorite and I like when he is messing around with Kyle bush
Great short film, a lot of great insight and true feelings. I thought it was very well done
I needed this so much. It applies to much more than racing, like many other things such as the music business.
I love these great videos!

Damn bro, Kurt gonna make me cry.
This is really well done!
I want more of this

Thats why in 1996 at indy dale was lost about being hurt thats why he came back at the glen and sat on the pole and won the race
Great package...Gonna miss you guys.
Ight Kurt. I’ll adopt you as my racin poppa! 🥺
Kurt speaking more without saying a word...sorry bud
Please let Kurt drive the 3rd car a couple more times a year. He is a big reason 23-XI is doing well.
Once he's cleared, he absolutely should.
Kurt deserves a ride! Any team would be much better with him as your driver!
nice
Wow, an excellent youtube post, fantastic 👍🏻
Nice!!🤘🏁
Who is/was Mike Thompson ?
Why Ty Dillon in this
JIMmy Spencer should have asked Kurt about grudges lol
Lol gotta add the minority driver.
Let's just include legitimate ones next time eh ...
bro what?😭
What?
He's a winner. They included Ty Dillon....you gonna bitch about that addition if you want to question whose added?
