Great channel brother. everyone is stuck with very expensive over-priced Rolex watches. 20,000 for a steel fucking watch. these underrated micro brands are worth 10X their money. I like the name Cheap. not fit micro brands. but more high quality price ratio watches. what do you get for your money. what do you get for 20,000 on a steel rolex. or what do you get for 500 on a Steinhart. that's how I look at watches. I own several Orient divers - 1 blue Mako II, 2 Ray II (blue and orange), 1 dark red Mako III aka Kamasu - and some Invicta automatic Pro Divers - 2 black 40 mm with Omega style bezels, 1 blue open heart, 1 all black "Vintage" - and all I can say is that excepting the small crown the Orient is a far better watch: better finish, better looking bezel, FAR better lume, more stable mechanism. Not to mention that it's not a copy - sorry, "hommage" - of the Submariner. Yes, it's slightly more expensive, but it's worth every extra penny.

Wow! Nice to see that you started another channel! I hope this gets to be as successful as the cheap audio man channel.
The raised indices on the dial perimeter of the Orient is the called the chapter ring while the stainless ring on the Invicta is called the rehaut. Mechanically, I think they serve the same purpose.
I agree, the watch should make you feel good regardless of the price. You should enjoy staring at it, looking at very small details. The lume of a dive watch should really pop and last long.
Orient is a good brand (owned by Seiko) and has good designs too.

Ok - some helpful criticism on watch reviews. I have about 10 reviewers I subscribe to and a bunch more I look at occasionally. Give a quick run down on specs. No where did you talk about size -at least give a diameter and lug to lug because it's important to people to have an idea whether they think it's too big or small etc. Crystal - is it mineral, is it sapphire, does it have AR etc. You didn't touch on the other big thing that can differentiate watches, especially in this end of the market, case finishing. Hard to give an accurate "value" when we don't know all of the specs. Personally, I have the Mako (in blue) and the PD in a white dial in my collection. The bracelet on the PD is fine for me except where it meets the end links. It just doesn't sit properly. I usually swap out the bracelets for rubber, leather or Natos anyway. I think the Orient is the best of the 3 just based on the watches head to head. Couple that with a long history of a big brand and warranty it's much better. Dislike Invicta's with a passion due to their marketing of a "$795" watch for $85 and the BS Swiss Brand connection they've hyped for the last 10 plus years. PD is a homage brand but tends to be high spec for the price. IMO, the Orient will retain much of it's resale value in years to come and the Inviticta and PD will be near worthless on the used market.

Glad you have started this channel. I subscribed. The Orient with 6, 9, 12 numerials looks like a homage to the Longines Hydro Conquest, my favoriate watches. So it does look like another watch. Unlike the other two brands, the Orient is a very distinguished, highly regarded brand. It's now a division of Seiko. In 2009, Orient Watch was turned into a wholly-owned subsidiary of Seiko. Then, to create further synergy, Orient Watch was merged into Seiko Epson in 2017. Incidentally, are the end links male or female on the Orient and other watches with the metal bracelet? That will determine how well it sits on a medium to smaller wrist. Size is an important factor to me and I suspect many others. You need to measure and show the actual size of each of these watches to do a credible review. Usually the Invictas are quite large. Also, are the crystals saphire?

Not really a fan of any of those three choices frankly. Of those 3, I would probably go with the Orient. I've got several dive watches including a Seiko Turtle, an Amphibia, a citizen Pro Master, and a Casio Duro. Tried an Invicta pro diver (Quartz) once, and it bit the dust within 6 months. Granted, it wasn't the mechanical version but my limited (and future) experience with Invicta pretty much ended right then.
Anyway, bought the Casio Duro for a work/beater watch and I have been pleasantly surprised. It is a very good watch for the low cost. Highly recommend it if someone is looking for a dive watch below the $100 mark.

My introduction to this line was an MTD 1010 that i bought at a Walmart store years ago. it was rated at 100M without a screw down crown. MTDs are battery operated quartz watches. This week i bought an MTD 1053 with a screw down crown and a rating of 200M. Around 100.00 dollars but i think searching could find one for less. I only consider coin edge bezels they are the classic style. My first watch ever was a Classic Casio Arnie, the first generation with the pushers across from each other. I attribute this to the second hand being heavy and over time it slides on the post as its being reset a few times. This seems to be a common problem with these watches. I had the Invicta Pro Diver and just recently picked up the Orient Ray II. First off, I decided against the Pagani because it only had a 100 meter rating while the Invicta and the Orient both had a 200 meter ratings. Both the NH35/a and the F6922 movements found in the Invicta and the Orient are outstanding movements for the price points. The 24 jewel movement of the NH35 is a good jewel count and had two more than the F6922. In my experience though, the F6922 movement seemed a much smoother and better movement than the NH35. It also kept far more accurate time straight out of the box. The Orient is running 3 seconds a day fast while the Invicta is running about 10 to 12 seconds a day fast. 10 to 12 seconds a day accuracy is outstanding considering the price point of the Invicta. Nevertheless, I was impressed 6 ways to Sunday over the accuracy of the Orient Ray II. Reading the reviews on both watches, and there were many reviews, these differences in accuracy that I experienced are in line with what others have experienced also. I like both watches, but the Orient won out over the Invicta for me. I eventually passed my Invicta Pro Diver on to my grandson and he loves it. Like I said, both watches are awesome watches for the price points, I just preferred the Orient Ray II due to the smoothness and accuracy of the movement over the Invicta's movement. I have to agree with you on the bracelet though, for roughly $50 more dollars in price Orient could have had a little better fit and finish on the bracelet. It is not a deal breaker, but could be better. The quality of the bracelet itself is better than the Invicta but not as well finished in the fit to the case. The Orient Ray II has a little better fit than the Mako though. The only difference between the Orient Ray II and the Mako is the numbers on the face verses the markers and the style of bracelet. Other than that they are the same watch. Nice review and I appreciate your channel. Looking forward to more videos.

I find I often have to wind the NH35 or use a winder because just wearing it was not enough to keep the power reserve full. I have found that NH35 watches that don't use the date seem to keep the power reserve full better, like the Invicta 1953 divers. I thought "well, I got unlucky and got a bad one." Bought an identical one to replace it (I REALLY liked the watch). Little over a year later, that one died. Loved the look and wear resistance, but the watch is CRAP. Maybe the automatic is much better?

I have an Orient Mako 1 and a Ray 2 and an Invicta Pro Diver. The Orient crowns are too small in my opinion but I still love the Orient's. My Invicta Pro Diver bezel doesn't line up perfectly and the lume is pretty poor but I still like it especially for the price. I wear the Invicta more as a beater.

You probably picked the worst Pagani to review, Pd 1651 (submariner homage) would have been a better choice. I have several models that mop the floor with the invicta in every criteria except history. There is always the issue of random quality control problems but for $100 and a sixty day money back policy you can’t really go wrong.

Love that you're doing this channel... Loved the Audio channel too..
Orient has a proud heritage and carries some significant horilogical significance. It's inspired by the Rolex Submariner for sure but with its own little nuance... add in the fact that it's an in house movement with better complications versus the Chinese variant of the Seiko NH35, and it's a real winner.
A category you overlooked would be the crystal... and it's important... you should include that. Watches with sapphire will almost always be better...
You should step up the price category... Orient Kamasu, Deep Blue Nato 300, there is actually a FANTASTIC Pagani homage to the Speedmaster...
Anyway, thanks for the great channels... 👍

Suggestion for the channel: The musical interlude between segments ( with the offbeat bass drum and synth pulse) is IMHO very annoying. Once, maybe, but over and over again was tough. Just a thought if you were looking for a channel style template to pattern future vids on. Change that out. Beyond that, well done & keep it up!

I sort of agree with the comments about the Orient watch brand but some of the pd watches do stand up and yes they probably will end up being worthless I think this is down to the movement on the pd I don't own a Invicta so can't comment on them bottom line all cheap watches won't retain value but they still have a place in watch collecting I like my pd watch and I like my Orient because I like them that's the most important thing

I have the Invicta Pro Diver in 42mm. Replaced the bracelet with a bond nato. A nato or rubber strap for the Pro Diver is the way to go.

don't forget the Mako 2 is an ISO rated diver, so its 200m water resistance is reliable (and the winner by miles and miles IMO).....plenty of better Paganis you could have chosen from but I get you dig the Seamaster look, I've owned a couple and found them solid beaters so next time perhaps check out the yachty and GMT homages _OR_ broaden the horizon and try a Parnis, I love 'em... and the Invicta? Well its nothing if not divisive but I love mine in black with the scalloped bezel....good luck with the channel, I dig the delivery, subbed to see where you go with it, cheers!

The only watch I get compliments on is my blue Orient Ray II. Orient makes beautiful watches for the money. I'm curious if you actually tried using the bezel on the Orient. In the Mako and Ray II, they are very difficult to turn.
I'd recommend checking out the Pagani 1701 V3 Speed master homage. Finishing on the bracelet isn't great but it's not a terrible bracelet. It has a very accurate Seiko quartz movement and puts the MoonSwatch to shame.

I’ll check out that pagani. The bezel is pretty tight on my mako. I really don’t use it too much though but it is a striking watch. I put a brown strap on it and I regularly grab it instead of my more expensive watches. It’s really grown on me

I tried two Pagani and on Ali express it looks like all their watches copy the designs of other brands as far as looks, also both came broken from China. It took me two months to get refunded. Some people get lucky and don't have QC issues. I wish Orient would use female end links, would hug the wrist better but I would replace the one it comes on. It's one of the worst out there. The watch is good, I mean the bracelet is pretty sad.

It is not even close. It now comes in 6 colors and is less than $50. Add a nato strap and you are looking good for less than $70 all in. This is however a great review of these three Automatic Divers. Looking forward to more. Thumbs up!
