  • I did an addition for my mother to live in. Unfortunately when we started, she could manage the 3 steps to the unit, by the time we were complete, stairs were out of the question.
I found an old, broken wheelchair lift. We redid the platform much smaller with pickets and a gate and cut a door from the main house to her unit. The lift has a cover for the motor that is not in place yet.
So many code violations, not to mention letting your kids take the first test ride.
The hardest part: Trying to track down the electrical components needed to get this working. The manufacturer wasn't interested in anything more than selling me a new unit. Lot's of Google searches resulted in a few surplus places that had the parts as well as sellers on e-Bay salvaging parts. I got all the parts from e-Bay, some NOS and some used. They were so cheap I picked up spares for the next time it breaks down.
