Good stuff. Bought it on the day it came out and VR was absolutely amazing butit gave me headache so put it aside. Over time, i got used to VR and about to give it a try again. These tips will be helpful.
There is a fourth power state: zero power. It can be achieved by activating advanced power management in the settings, and then maxing one system and after that another. the system that wasn't maxed at all will then be zeroed out. This is VERY handy for many situations. When you're dogfighting you typically don't need any power in shields because they don't recharge when you get hit and a few seconds after that, so having power in shields while that happens is just a waste of pips. It is much better to try to shake your tail and then quickly max out shields, zeroing out weapon since you don't really need that when you're restoring. after shields are fully overcharged you can then go back and max out power and then engines, so you have max engine and thus build boost while also having 4 pips in weapons for good weapon recharge, zeroing out shields since you don't need any power in that system.
Oh man thanks for explaining fleets. I'm new, and while I am having fun, I get mad because I lose almost every match. I wasn't sure what the Morale Bar did. I would just blindly go in and get rekt trying to score damage on Capital Ships. Now I know what's happening. Also, am I handicapping myself by setting the AIs to Normal instead of Easy?
Here is a good question I have - it is possible to make the game controllable with a Joystick? Cause I think the game would be... a little easier with a joystick rather than keyboard and mouse.

The game looks and plays great! But the menu system and apparent lack of documentation just sucks! You go around in circles just trying to set things up! It would help if we could use our mouse in the menu screens. Sorry to vent but it has been very frustrating not to mention that EA doesn't accept gmail address but doesn't tell you that sending you around in circles.
The game is so fun so far, although I wish it had more gamemodes

You can select to target only the subsystems. It makes them much easier to find!

I hope they add larger ships, it would be insane if we could use some kind of large or medium size ship 🛳!!!!
