    Another psychological bonus kinda related that I find with the breechloaders is when playing with other weapons (and iron eye), I have a tendency to follow up a badly aimed shot with another one. breech loaders force me to re-acquire the target if I miss which seems to help me.
    bolt actions are definitely the technically superior weapon, but I wholeheartedly agree that breechloaders teach you to play better. If anyone plays War Thunder, I'd compare them to playing British tanks - mostly sub par with awful damage, but that teach you to play better because of it.

I RARELY use any rifle that has more shots than the berthier and tend not to use traits that allow me to stay scoped because I have the gawd awful habit of holding a corner. Having my rifle forced into a reload animation, or forced out of scope gives me a second to think and remind myself on whether or not I should keep holding that angle, or if I'll die next time I peak.

    I think this is the same reason that the Bert is so underrated. People can't imagine having to reload after less than 5 shots with an expensive weapon, but it's got a deadeye and riposte variant, unique to long ammo bolt actions, and is the cheapest of the bunch, plus it's unlocked at level 48.
    The deadeye gives you just enough extra magnification to allow for ~300m headshots, but doesn't make you feel like you can't push when you need to. Additionally, it removes your peripheral vision you get with irons. No, that's not bad. It makes you more aware that you've been holding the same angle for too long! So for the sake of this discussion, I consider that a positive. Between those benefits and the price (any Bert variant is still cheaper than a base Lebel) it's almost always been my late prestige long amm since it was introduced. Also the riposte is a great well-rounded weapon, so you don't feel deprived while you're unlocking the deadeye.

    • @AAkCN1
      @AAkCN1 Год назад +2

      Although, I do agree with you completely as an avid Bertier enjoyer myself...
      Bertier still has 3 shot mag and facilitates your bad habits :D

    • @CetomimusGillii
      @CetomimusGillii Год назад

      @@AAkCN1 True, it certainly can, though to a much lesser extent than the Lebel. I think not being able to top up definitely helps its case though, so I never take bullet grubber with it. Having a maximum of only three shots means consciously thinking about each shot that I take, not unlike playing with a single-shot gun. I still recommend new people focus on single-shot for at least a couple hundred hours while they're learning the flow of fights and the basic tactical decision making that determines it. However, once they understand when to push, when to rotate, when to run, and how to do each, then I think the Bert is a great way to add some firepower without ruining good habits. If you play it right, the only difference between how I play say, Sparks and Bert, is that if I tag someone with a Bert and have them dead to rights (i.e. they're in a crappy position and/or don't know where they just got shot from) and they just start running or trying to hide, I can quickly follow up and finish them without quick swapping to a pistol, which allows for more interesting loadouts without sacrificing the ability to quickly down a full-health hunter with body shots from a distance.
      So yes, your play can definitely devolve when moving up to the Bert despite it having only three shots. But if you've already got your good habits in place, then it encourages you to keep using them while giving you the ability to push the advantage of a good flank/angle when you have it

      I think there's a positive feedback loop of confidence it will give you that begins with one universal phenomenon: nobody respects the Springy. You whiff a Springfield shot, and all of a sudden people push like crazy because "lol it's only a Springfield." But when you know what you're doing, overconfidence is easy to exploit. People will run through open areas that make them easy to shoot and impossible to revive. They'll shoot at you with a shotgun from way too far away because they think they can bully you, and imagine that you're probably panicking. They won't bother trying to coordinate with their team, they'll just chase you like a rabbit and assume you're bad, just before taking a dumdum or poison round that has them out of the fight for much longer than it takes you to reload and tag their teammate as well. Now they're the ones panicking, and you can move in for an easy hipfire (crazy accurate with base Springfield), Spitfire, or dual Pax dumdum kill. People underestimate the Springfield almost every single time, and knowing how to punish that does lead to a level of confidence that's hard to get with anything else.
      I'm actually a big fan of the compact deadeye with one stack of dumdum and either one stack of normal with dual Scotts (cheap/free and lots of ammo for spamming bosses/meatheads and long fights) or one stack poison and one stack dumdum with dual Pax claw dumudum or poison. I feel confident at any range, have great PvE options, and when people push a Springfield too hard, like usual, dualies can punish that hard if you play your cards right. Plus it fits into any trio, whether the homies are rolling snipers, shotguns, or anything in between

    The way I see it, guns like the Sparks and Springfield are guns that reward patience above all else. Yes they might not have the quickest velocity or they might have a long reload animation, but with proper positioning and gamesense, weapons like these hit like an absolute truck, which is what makes them particularly scary to me especially if someone with a higher MMR is using them.

    To add to this, dynamite + knife is a good combo too, and why bring guns? Just take the enemy's! Run outa dynamite? Firebomb and run through it at them! Throw chokes and wait for them to start coughing! The possibilities are endless for tripping up opponents. Running different or quite literally bad play styles will teach you new things not just about mechanics and game sense, but also what rhythm fights go in, how to trust your intuition, and how to pinpoint mistakes. Countless people I've played with have only stuck to one set of weapons and they get frozen when pressured, countless times I've closed the distance on an enemy skirmishing at range only for them to do the same. Get out of that comfort zone and do something crazy... never know when you might need to drop your gun and draw your knife.
    Been running very poor loadouts (SA Nagant + Hand Crossbow, Springfield 1866 and no secondary) lately in Solo vs Trio or Duo vs Trio, with the sole goal of stealing an enemy player's loadout. It's fun and has been teaching me a lot in terms of patience, ambushing, and disengaging. Occasionally I even get a chance to bag a whole team or even a bounty token, and have been making friends along the way in hectic full server fights by bargaining for nothing more than a loadout.
