Great review! Thank you, however, I have to say that Le Lion smells a lot like a more subdued version Shalimar. I love Chanel and have a few from the line, but in this instance Guerlain have been there and done that almost 100 years ago. In my opinion, after testing both side by side, Le lion is definitely softer version of Shalimar. Have a wonderful birthday 🥳 Sending lots of love to all ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Middle East Meets French Perfumery Perfect Review for This Fragrance. - Chanel Blazes its own trail and doesn't care what other brands do. - Why we appreciate Chanel's craftsmanship over crass commercial interest. - Chanel headband and thank you card. I don't really like Middle East fragrances, but I'm really enjoying Chanel's interpretation here. Its both very accessible and very challenging at the same time.
I just smelled this today. It's absolutely gorgeous. I'm surprised nobody has compared this to L'Air du Desert Marocain! To me this is LDDM with the Coromandel patch and citrus. If you like LDDM you will LOVE Le Lion.
@@Tangentbordsblues Haha sorry! I've come to see alot of differences between them in time. The only thing the two share is the dryness and churchyness.
I have a lot to say indeed, but it’s not the time or place yet. One thing though: I find it ironic that most people are relating this to Shalimar, and as “original” as this maybe wants to be, it still picks up after masterpieces of old - in a “Chanelesque” way. So maybe they’re not quite as different as what Dior, Guerlain and Hermès are doing...? They’re all behind the money-making schemes, as is the world nowadays. I haven’t personally tried this release, and I’m eager to - but I’m not expecting it to be best of, as that too is relative. As for Demachy, as much as I agree with you that Dior follows Chanel’s path, I still think he’s brilliant in the technical aspects of perfumery, and I do respect some of his most recent releases - perhaps not for the complexity, but more about their symbiotic simplicity in perfectly technical execution. But that’s just my $0.02 on that comment... coming from ego, as I’ve seen your comment is too. :) ♥️ hugs my friend 🤗
I agree. As far as new releases go Eugen is overreacting. This isn't much of an original perfume it has an uncanny resemblance to Shalimar or Ambre Sultan... Chanel's version of Shalimar perhaps? He's just caught up in the bliss of a new release. All the Chanel fans gonna fight me now.
I love it. I’ve been wearing it every other day. This thing is Beast mode. I put it on a tester strip and my whole room smells like Le lion. My 200ml bottle will never run out. Glad you enjoy it. Merry Christmas to you and the fam.
I can't wait to get this on skin. I've only smelled it off a tester strip. I might just "blind buy" a bottle. I got a lot of labdanum and patchouli off the tester. Two of my favorite notes. Probably get Coromandel and Sycamore too. Thanks for the review. Happy Belated Birthday and Happy Holidays.
I love Le Lion. Chanel managed to create a fusion between a woody , smokey leather and a traditional orïental amber. Leave it up to Olivier Polge to create a perfume like this. Polge already had an impressive list of great perfumes on his repetoire, original Dior Homme being one of them , before he joined Chanel. Happy birthday man!
42 fragrance purchases since mid-August, I just purchased a 2.5 oz. bottle of Le Lion, along with EDTs of Egoiste, Allure Homme and Antaeus...my first Chanels. When is the next FA (Fraghead Anonymous) meeting? 🥴
Tried it just today, and definitely see coromandel vibes. With a touch of incense.Like it a lot, although find it a little bit more daring than Boy,Coromandel, Sycomore,Bois des iles.Perhaps that add of smoke/incense.
I tried this it was okej ( nothing new and kind of weak not strong at all to be honest) , Coromandel still the best from the line not even a competition. But i am glad for you man glad you liked it enjoy it brother
@@Eric-le8wu ofcourse that is your opinion we see and smells things differently. To me Coromandel is much stronger than this. This was not a strong scent and overall Coromandel is a much better fragrance. I respect your opinion tho, Enjoy it 😊
Le Lion de Chanel finally arrived in my area and I opened my new bottle this morning for my debut wear. It's big, it's aggressive, it's beautiful. I didn't think anything could ever surpass Coromandel but Le Lion is a contender. Oh, I'll just go ahead and say it based on a single wear: Le Lion is now my #1 favorite perfume!
I really find this image you're painting interesting, with the arabs taking siege of Paris and the Eiffel tower on fire. So basically you are the Michel Houellebecq of the perfume world. :) But jokes aside, yes, this is a masterpiece. I'm especially hoping for Christine Nagel and Hermès to take note of it. Thanks for the review!
Francois Demachy's Dior Rose Les Elixirs Precieux is a masterpiece of a fragrance that can please European and Arabian perfume connoisseurs. Cartier's oud line is well made and not synthetic smelling like other designer oud brands.
I've heard so many fragcom influencers-who more or less, no doubt, love great fragrances-speak of the one house they would keep above all. Guerlain. Dior. Tom Ford. Creed. Amouage. Thierry Mugler, even. The list is long, but somehow the mighty bucks from "elite" conglomerates like Lancome and LVMH ruin fragrance lines as if intentional to destroy what is beautiful. Even clone houses like ARMAF, Lattafa et. al, despite the synthetics, are putting out the love we see in their excellent presentations (contrasting to the paltry packaging in DIOR). And yet Chanel, despite the odds and pressure, show what is true art.
I reallyyy hope they give us an updated discovery set with 5 mls and sprayers ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ anyway at first, I only got sharp smoky leather and incense the whole way through. With new wearings now I’m picking up new notes like lots of amber and vanilla, a little patchouli
Absolutely, how about an ad program of a low sexual whispery voice singing "Getting To Know You" and images of incredible Chanel models all in B& W of course. They'd set off a tidal wave of expensive buying.
Nice review as always Eugen, my 200ml is on the way too ! About Dior… i’m also as confused as you lol we are here in France hearing about à new release again lol…. Cheval blanc dior… 😅🙄
From my mini I got shalimar a little bit opening lemon like but just a little bit for it feel sandy not powdery later on resinous and smoky animalic leather maybe feel is like a combination of cuir de russie with coromandel and other one for me is shalimar with cuir de russie never try coromandel hope today received my bottle and sampler to try the other les exclusif SOTD: obsession women omg love it for 26 dlls it’s a steal

I have a small decant and loved this one! Immediately it did remind me of Shalimar as well- yet not as a copy at all but as a class of perfume types. I enjoy learning more about it as I wear it. I will look for the rose this next wearing. I am House Chanel as my sigil. :) I will purchase a fb when available. Thanks for the review.
Bois D'Argent is better than Le Lion, fella 😉 so doesn't mean everything Chanel does is better than Dior. Coromandel, however, is one of my top 5 of all time.
Good Evening Eugenius Hope all is well, and belated birthday and happy holidays I wanted to know if the Le Exclusifs had a sandalwood based fragrance and if so what is it Thanks in advance
Bois des Iles is a wonderful sandalwood Chanel. I highly suggest the parfum version; pricy but worth it. Here is Kristo’s review: ruclips.net/video/ilP_3hUfMzw/видео.html

Your happy reaction says it all, It's a special moment only true frag heads understand. Going to King of Prussia mall tomarrow.
Now that I really enjoy Le Lion, way better than when I received it in the winter, I hope Chanel will release a pure perfume version of it too.
I agree, i did have sample in summer and bought a full bottle in winter. I think in the summer heat it really shows what a beauty this fragrance is
This is one of the most potent fragrances out there, my bottle will last a lifetime for sure. I love it a lot, some similarities with Bois d' Armenie.

You are so speaking the truth bro! I HAD a fragrance in my Dior shopping cart but I’ve just emptied it. I think I’m done with CD. I just subscribed.
Haha, me too. I ordered Ambre Nuit, smelled the sample and sent it right back. Absolutely abhorrent.

Wonderful review. I cannot wait to get my hands and nose on this. Right up my street. It manages to sound both 'right now' and immediately classic.

I think it is an absolute masterpiece, I get the same musc as in Musc Ravageur, sandalwood and patchouli in the dry down.
Le Lion is excellent but Coromandel is still Queen.

At the Chanel boutique I tried it on. Felt like fried wet wool blanket or perhaps airplane toilet. A week later I spent $350 on the big bottle.

I find this a better version of coromandel, both being basically all about amber. This is an outrageously accurate review.

Just bought it yesterday, had to revisit this review for the occasion
Chanel, the trend setters, taking a jab at Dior...I love it
Wonderful review. Thank You !
I was waiting for this review!
Thanks . Do you get any burning oud/ incense out of it?
I was too distracted by the Chanel crown. Not sure what you said. #fragranceking
Great review. Love and admire your passion.

Have you tried Gravitas Pour Homme by Naughton and Wilson?
Yes bought it for my husband- IT.Is.FABULOUS!!
It is a true fougere that is timeless. Will be a BIG HIT!!
Well Frederic Malle did nor rush with their middle east collection. Le lion is not an original -- shalimar is the inspiration!
Ambre sultan is good -- i have , and chergui
Interesting, I got no rose at all. Tons of labdanum though.
Yeah I got lots of labdanum off the tester. One of my favorite notes. I just wish I could get this on skin.
@@TheRealLeeM Sounds like it would be a safe blind buy for you.
I agree
Obtained a sample of Le Lion, and was not impressed. I wasn't alone. My wife hates it.

King wear crown too 🤣
one has been discontined .... Bois Noir de chanel
Not discontinued but launched as a mainstream: Égoïste. At the same time Dior/LVMH reformulates, waterdowns and discontinues...
Sorry i disagree, this fragrance mimicks cuir de russie much more then coromandel
don't hold back
This smells like a band aid. I regretted this purchase. Buyer beware. Mine smelled nothing like rose 🌹.
Coromandel is way better than Le Lion
I’m not sure if you’re trolling or serious since no reason as to why it’s better has been given.
