This brings back great memories. I saw this production with Gray and she was tremendous. Really a shame they didn't make a cast recirding of it with her.
Dolores Gray sings Rose so powerfully and with such nuance. It's a show business lost opportunity that they did not make a recording of Gray singing the entire score. Thank you so much for what you have given us.
GOOSEBUMPS THRUOUT and I'm not exaggerating. What stands out for me, is how powerfully and simple easy she handles the score and how she's the entire orchestra above the orchestra. The voice is ravishing and it has an amazing impact of electricity with elegance. A great Harry Winston diamond necklace performance. This post is historical. Thank You!!!!What a wonderful treat.
I've been meaning to comment for a while now - and it's lovely! I find her phrasing much more inspired than the later recording from 1982, and what a save at 11:10. And it's also great to hear Barrie Ingham as well. Now what we need to hear is your tape with Dame Lansbury from '73!
I was not familiar with Dolores Gray until now. Such a talent! And the end of "Everything's Coming Up Roses" is so exciting, here. I love how pronounced the chimes are! Made me smile, which I needed tonight. Thank you, as always, for sharing.
Ah Delores Gray! Such a beautiful voice, I’m so glad someone decided to post her in Gypsy, I’ve often wondered how she would have tackled this role…glad I now know! Thank you. 🙏😍
Dolores Gray knew a bit about ruthless stage mamas herself. Her own mother once punched Michael Kidd in the face when he cut her daughter from a dance number and had to be dragged out of the room screaming.
I always thought of Delores Gray as an Ethel Merman-type who could actually sing. Merman's voice was atrocious and her acting non-existent. Gray is terrific here. I wish I had seen here in this role.
She is sensational. What a treat. What a memorable "Everything's Coming Up Roses"!

The Vibrato on “ But I” 😍
and she isn’t back phrasing from cleveland here-how amazing -and rose’s turn doesn’t sound like a dirge -love it when she’s taking it at tempo!
My EXACT reaction.

She sounds fantastic
Thrilled to have seen this production, she took it to another level !
God, she was utterly brilliant at her craft. Barrie Ingham's an added treat, too!
Wow wow wow ❤️❤️❤️
Whoa!!!!
Wow! Had no idea this even existed. She sounds excellent.

How great to be able to hear this. Thank you!
Thank you for posting this. A dear friend is Dolores' niece. She gifted me a small detachable mink collar of Gray's.
Please tell Dolores' niece that her aunt remains one of the most beloved of all Broadway singers.
@@auroraspiderwoman5886 I certainly will.
How I would love to hear Ann Sothern doing these songs!

Does that say Sat shows at 5 and 8:30? That so little turn around!
I used to love those 5 or 5:30 pm London shows on Saturday. It allowed one to see three shows in a single day.
@@auroraspiderwoman5886 must have been hell on the company though, American equity would never allow that lol
@@Itstonytime77 The last show I can remember doing that was "Murder Ballad" off-Bway
Come From Away is like that in London I think.
@@auroraspiderwoman5886 I saw 3 shows in one day a few years ago! One of them was Come From Away ofc owing to its odd schedule
