Thank You So Much My Master,My Visionary Musician,Spiritualized,Man of Great Ideas,I Will Love Forever as I Live in This Wonderfull Life,Wonderfull World!!!!! You R In My Heart!!!!! Love You Bill Nelson!!!!!! Star Sailor Of Beautiful Mellodies!!!!!!!!!!!!
Like Bill Nelsons trip through mind, heart and mother earth. Out of time! So weightless it picks you up for a flight! Great ambient rock tracks full of spontaneous joy and awareness of what life means! A very rare compilation. Never found this in any place. A friend has the tower triple vinyl original, but i lost him out of sight, too. Sad! But now its back on YT, thanks for that pleasure! 🤗
I have been an angel, in the percerception, of the conception, of this album's delineation, to understand, being. It is a blessing, to live, and predicate this essence, in that thematitacally procurement, wherein to be, becomes profound, for me, within the sounds and voices, proceed beyond, even life's exigengences. Undetertimed, yet prescience, it becomes a sentient reason why existence has meaning, without reason, in any preconceived intent. I call it, pure ART, unaldutlered, a blessing.
I still have the extended tape I bought back in the 80s. The guitar work, though minimal, is gorgeous and the keyboards and synths paint beautiful sound scapes for all to hear. This is one of my favorite albums of music magick for contemplation or simple enjoyment. Still, so amazing.
Some years ago I had a near death experience. "The Angel of Hearth and Home" and "A Bird of the Air Shall Carry Thy Voice" remind me very strongly of that experience, it's a pleasant memory.
I thought the same on first hearing... Shades of Art of Noise, Simon Fisher Turner and Shriekback's more ambient stuff there too. Criminally underrated, but maybe that's a good thing and keeps it a rare gem.
I remember buying the double CD set at Tower Records in Campbell, CA, which was not my usual Tower. I remember taking home and feeling odd that there were so many songs and was I even going to listen to them all. It became my repeat listening CD for years. A Bird Of The Air Shall Carry Thy Voice remains one of my favorite pieces of music.
Oh boy ... tons of great memories. Remember when I found Chance Encounters in the record store and only discovered the bonus single Ecclesia Gnostica days later in the second sleeve. Ten Christmasses and birthdays combined! It made me buy a synth and play Finis Gloria Mundi till the cows come home. BTW, I am one of guys who sponsored Bill's digital equipment and my name is on the album cover of Caliban and Chrome Harmonium. My early thirties condensed in one great album.
I bought this on vinyl when first released. Every recording was a revelation. I am still in awe when I think of this, Love that Whirls and Getting the Holy Ghost Across. He has released a baffling amount of stuff since then but very little even approaches this standard. Not every fleeting thought is a pearl Bill.
I picked this CD up in a used record shop when I was about 18. I had angry phases that I filled with other music, but this is one I kept coming back to over the years when I wanted to consider what I would see and feel if I looked up and my body just kept going.
I believe he was experimenting with saying everything that was needed in the shortest possible time. A bit like a musical haiku. It also left me feeling a bit disappointed but that's Bill for you.
all you proud possessors of the vinyl version......you owe it to yourself to seek out the CD with all its bonus tracks which IAVW has kindly provided. Thank you. (-:
Oh, and really appreciate In a Vibrant Way for posting. My idiot roommate in 1997 stole CD 1. I've ordered a new one...not cheap, and taking forever to arrive. Thanks for filling the time between.
I thought about this CD (shallowly buried in my basement with other obsolete data storage modes) when I looked for Aphex Twin after remembering a 90s interview with Steve Kilbey. Very similar feelings though the format is a bit different (intergalactic dance club vs. sacred places here and on other worlds thousands of years ago). Still new to ambient music...what's your pick for #1 Mark?
Bill Nelson,John Foxx,Richard Thompson all Northern English visionaries. All criminally underated.

Bill Nelson's music is Timeless and Universal. This album is a masterpiece and really stands apart from all of his others in my personal opinion!

Bill is an incredible guitarist and master songwriter.
Bill Nelson is just a gem.
Never let anything cause you
to doubt your ability
to demonstrate the truth...
Coming back to the first MOST OUTSTANDING ambient work ever...and I love it MORE each time I hear it...I FEEL the music !
Very David Sylvian "Gone to Earth " like. I am loving this equally.
I thought the same on first hearing... Shades of Art of Noise, Simon Fisher Turner and Shriekback's more ambient stuff there too. Criminally underrated, but maybe that's a good thing and keeps it a rare gem.
What a genius this man is. First album i bought was Red Noise, so much more to find, you are one of my all time heroes.

I loved Tower Records. No Amazon back then to order stuff like this.

Holy shit, I MUST own a copy of this album, now! Only wish that some of the tracks were longer! Peace.
