The music is great but that cover is a crime against humanity.
Somehow most of the pieces on this album makes me said. Probably cannot escape from the know of being the last where Jaco was present. And especially knowing that he was already spiralling down. Nevertheless this is a great album.
Amazing! 1. "Non Brewed Condiment" 3:41 2. "Funnels" 6:15 3. "The Dominant Plague" 5:45 4. "Atavachron" 4:45 5. "Looking Glass" 4:36 6. "Mr. Berwell" 6:24 7. "All Our Yesterdays" (lyrics: Rowanne Mark) 5:26
No CM! Nuts!
This album is sick... Not sure about that last track, though haha

Allan the best gitar for all timen (keren)
A little history People! I saw this performance of this record @ The Palace in Hollywood CA 1988. The Ronnie Montrose band opened this evening. Allan Holdsworth with Jimmy Johnson on Bass and Chad Wackerman on Drums. Guest vocalist was great but slips my mine at this moment. Greatness 🙏 R.I.P. Allan Holdsworth & Ronnie Montrose. ✝️
Considering the Star Trek context (and stealing from Dirty Dancing), no one puts Holdsworth in a red shirt!!
astor piazzolla y allan holswhort mis musicos sublimes
Volcano for hire has such immense energy that every time I hear it it continues to excite me. Jaco how he maintains that line without stopping ad infinitum when Wayne and Zawinul did their solos. Thank you
Atavachron BEAUTIFULLY MELODIC !! Strains of The Soth Saturn Delta & Classical ! .!.
HoldsWorthian Compositions ARE FROM A FAR BRILLIANT UNIVERSE SUCH EMOTIONALLY DEEP EXPRESSIVE DELIVERY ........BEYOND THE MASTERs (!)
I LOVE THE ENTIRETY OF ALLANS RECORED WORKS ...BUT ATAVACHRON ... is a hard one for me
Definitely one of their best albums

This whole album is just *perfect.*
can't disagree with you there lol
compartimos un mismo sentimiento, desde Argentina
couldn't of worded it better, from Canada
If Allan was trying to NOT sound cliche in his guitar playing, he certainly rang that bell. I'm also certain that Allan wasn't trying to set a bar for anyone but himself in his quest for musical expression...in other words, his approach/goal wasn't one of, "play like me", though I, as I'm sure many have, fallen victim to the "I've gotta play like Allan, or what I bring to the table won't mean anything..." Au contraire! I'm a teacher, and I can play some of Allan's licks, but the sheer volume of his contribution, he being the source of the majority of his music, my station in life, my age, my fingerprints, deny me to be a Holdsworth clone, and I'm ok with that. Even if one didn't like or appreciate, or understand his music, one cannot stare at his offerings and deny how prolific he was, or brush off the overarching genius of the totality of his works, or the technical prowess required to compose/solo as he alone could do. As for impact the on world of guitar-ing, he will, for me, remain at high altitude, in spite of being denied a place/IGNORED by Rolling Stone's 250 Greatest list. RS will be forgotten long before Allan is, just sayin!
Current Affairs é uma das grandes composições do Weather. Excelente disco.
unfortunately there will never be another Allan
Allan looks like Mr Spock
I'd say Alan, when he was fully on, might be the all time GOAT of jazz - not just guitar
35:25 Proto Space Blast beats! Genuine at tops! Almighty Holdsworth 👽🔥🔥🔥🎸
Hbday maestro! Been 6 years without you already, really to put into words how much we miss ya.
Foundation is laying down the framework as Drums and Bass and like a rocket take hold of the UNIVERSE with Moon as a Anomaly...................@ aka the Shrewd. RIP Allen HOLDSWORTH...........................................................INFINITY

Great album. Had this one in high school 🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶❤️❤️❤️
peak something
i love him. is it enough?
This is just a quote just from my memory. "If I could figure out what Allen is doing, I'd steal his playing!" John McLaughlin
Mr. Spock: _"Fascinating, he plays like a Vulcan !"_
One of the albums that contain all "compositions" as to "songs". They are more than just songs. Each is a deep statement of emotion.
'77 saw him w/ Jean Luc Ponty Enigmatic tour
No one is at the same level as Holdsworth. Not even close. IMO
Allan Holdsworth - guitar, SynthAxe, engineering, mixing, production Rowanne Mark - vocals (track 7) William Edward Childs - keyboard (tracks 2, 5) Alan Pasqua - keyboard (tracks 3, 4, 6) Gary Husband - drums (tracks 1, 2, 4, 6) Chad Wackerman - drums (tracks 3, 7) Tony Williams - drums (track 5) Jimmy Johnson - bass
All just sounds like bill bruford stuff repeated
👍🏾👍🏾
I love all things Holdsworth, but not the last song "all our yesterdays" . It's good that he put a long intro on the song to give me time to shut it off. Bunch of noise.
This the soundtrack to time travel to higher dimensions and consciousness...
SIRIUS AND THE GHOSTS Daniel Denis-Studio Album, released in 1991Review by Syzygy SPECIAL COLLABORATOR Honorary Collaborator 3 stars Daniel Denis' solo albums provide a kind of continuity between the break up of Univers Zero in 1986 and their reformation in 1999. Sirius and the Ghosts picks up where Heatwave left off, and sees Denis further exploring the possibilities of electric keyboards. The compositional style is very much in keeping with Uzed and Heatwave, featuring just six comparatively long tracks with the trademark time changes and doom laden atmosphere. Although the pieces are well written, not all of them sound fully realised. Only two tracks feature Denis on full drum kit, and the excellent supporting players are only used sparingly. This is the main weakness of an otherwise good album - parts which could have been interpreted more imaginatively by other players are performed by Denis himself on synthesisers and electric keyboards. It's no accident that the strongest pieces on the album are those which come closest to being a full band performance - Beyond the Mountains and A`L'Ombre Du Zed are extremely strong, with the brilliant reeds player Dirk Descheemaeker adding some real colour and the low end of the sonic palette being complemented by cellist Jan Kuijken and bassist Michel Hatzigeorgiou. The pieces that make up the second half of the album sound relatively thin in comparison; Sirius is played entirely by Denis except for the clarinet part, and on Strange Twist the only support comes from the bassist. Sirius features some excellent percussion, and Strange Twist sees Denis back on the drum stool doing what he does best, but there's something a bit lifeless about the arrangements. The album closes with the sombre Fete Souterraine, the only completely solo performance on the album. This is played entirely on keyboards, and while it's atmospheric enough the presence of some acoustic instrumentation would have made a big difference. For Univers Zero fans there is plenty to enjoy on this album. Whilst it's not as strong as anything released by the band proper, it's still a solid, well crafted piece of work that is unmistakably in the same style. Denis' drumming is as powerful as ever, and he acquits himself respectably on keyboards. Newcomers would be better advised to start with Univers Zero's Ceux Du Dehors and proceed from there. Songs / Tracks Listing 1. Beyond the Mountains (9:52) 2. A l'Ombre du Zed (8:04) 3. Eastwave (5:34) 4. Sirius (6:52) 5. Strange Twist (7:37) 6. Fête souterraine (7:35) Total Time: 45:34 Line-up / Musicians - Daniel Denis /drums, percussion, keyboards - Frederic de Roos / recorders - Dirk Descheemaeker / soprano saxophone, clarinet, bass clarinet - Michel Hatzigeorgiou / bass - Jan Kuijken / acoustic and electric cellos - Michel Hatzigeorgiou / bass - Frederic DeRoos / recorders
Atavachron, Sand and Hard Hat Area are my favorite Allan Holdsworth albums.
