I'm so happy that I have started this cooking channel! It's so much fun to make all these dishes and there is no limit to how many delicious recipes I can show you guys! Let me know if you have any requests for dishes, you would like me to cook! Big hugs and thanks so much for your support!
TY very much for your content and cooking skills! I'm making clams and linguine tonight for dinner and I wanted to find a different recipe than my own and BOOM! Came across your beautiful channel ❤TY you gained a new subscribe and fan.
I'm the guy behind the camera (Joen), and I am currently on a strict keto diet. You have no idea how hard it is NOT to eat these clams with original bolo do caco dipped in the sauce. Oh My God!!!! Life can be soo hard! 😂
Nice to see you guys doing and teaching tradicional portuguese food to the world. Was a fan of yours why you guys don t do a tradicional danish food to teach us? To Joen hope you like that finally our Sporting win the title 😁🤣👍💚
My mom is half Norwegian so is my dad but my mother is Italian and Spanish and I’m not sure what else but and she never made clams that way.. she made a lot of seafood but I think I would’ve eaten the clams if she made them that way. Looks good and I can almost smell it.
Amalie, you are a natural! Great vídeo and that amêijoas à Bulhão Pato looks delicious. Loved the lemon zest over the clams: it's a great idea! (I loved in chocolate mousse, for example)
I like adding butter in seafood too but never seen it in a Portuguese recipe. And the bread that goes on the plate is filled with butter from the frying 🤤
Yes and I totally would have if it was a French recipe. But I actually like it with oil. I’ll try it next time. I add lime zest to almost everything 😅 it’s an addiction 🤣
Very nice, but no mustard on the sauce? Next time you come to the mainland, come in December/January to trás-os-montes and make a video on how to make alheira, and I don't mean cooking alheira, but making it.
Huge fan of clams!! It would have been even more amazing if you stressed that clams cannot be overcooked!!! It may be common sense for many, but those who don’t know they’re going to have a terrible experience 😭
My brothers would catch fish and drip them over our heads when we had a slumber party. My mother will go fishing and bring home beautiful fish went with her a few times. my mother loved to just let the crabs walk around in the kitchen before she boiled them. Used to scare me because they reminded me of spiders. Ha ha
@@howsitcooking2478 There are very many more stories like them putting rattlesnake tails into envelopes and addressing it to me so I would get excited when I would get a letter. Many many stories but I wouldn’t ever give up having three brothers but I had no sisters. Ah the stories! I think you’re doing great on your cooking show which I’m not surprised and I wish you all the best my dear!
Try to add beer (let the alcohol evaporate) and onions on slicees before cooking the clams. The sauce is much more yummy and that bread will not resist
@@howsitcooking2478 many restaurants spoil many of the good dishes we have with these very low quality clams, when we have some of the best in the world in our "rias", just to make a bigger profit...
Well guess I speak American then. I also pronounce the “h” in herbs which isn’t so common in British English. But fun fact in my language danish we also call it coriander 😊
@@howsitcooking2478 you definitely don't speak American English, I would say it's more of a British English you speak 😉 I didn't know it was the same word in Danish, that's pretty cool 😊
Definitely coriander, which in Portuguese is Coentros. You would probably have more people wondering what cilantro is. 🤔 Probably more used in Mexico, Spain, Americas.

Very good. What a mix of genes 🙌 very cool. The clams are in my opinion the best seafood. It’s like eating prickles. Once you pop … 😅
All this delicious food, mom, and yet I'm served dry dog food on a daily basis. What's up with that??

Do you think some melted butter with the olive oil and garlic could be nice?
Yes that delicious too. But there’s so much butter on the bread that goes in so it didn’t matter for me 😅
I'm dribbling 😋, I can't remember the name of the bread you used, but on my recent trip to Madeira I loved it smothered in garlic.
It’s called Bolo de caco.and it’s so deli🤤

Thank you Luis. I will make my favorite chocolate mousse one day! I promise
Looks really good 💚
Thank you Ana ❤️
Uau!!! Também quero 🤤!!!
Boa sorte com o canal!!!
Muita obrigada
This looks amazing!
I would probably use butter instead, as I like butter on everything. Even butter on butter! 😁😁😁
In Portugal we use olive oil for everything
@@alvafaleiro Also butter in many cases. Amêijoas à Bulhão Pato generally have a bit of butter. (and the olive oil of course).

I saw the video with my mouth open, kind of waiting to taste it...just dreaming

Hahaha 😝
How do u get the sand out ? Leave them in salt water ?
Yes leave them in salt water with ice cubes for at least an hour and the rinse and turn them well in a trainer.
Can you use shellfish that are open? I thought it was dangerous to do so
It depends a bit. Mine were open because they had been sitting in water for over two hours. But if you get them open from the market I would use them.
I love Ameijas à bulhão pato! I do it with a chilli added, and alwasy use olive oil and a bit of butter for a stronger creamy sauce.
Yeah a couple of people actually mentioned that. I thought it was a more French thing to do but I’ll try it in the future for sure :)
@@howsitcooking2478 its delicious either way!
Damn. Now I'm Hungry..
Then eat.. eat amêijoás 🤗🤌🏽
You know how you know these are Portuguese clams? They asked for pasteis de nata while they were cooking. :-)
Hahaha 😝

It’s called a bolo so caco. It’s from Madeira and Porto santo :)

Are u portuguese?
although they are not the best clams we have, at least they were not made with the Vietnamese or Japanese, frozen clams...
Yeah.. those are unfortunately something you usually end up getting here. Mine where farmed which isn’t ideal. But they were from Portugal at least😅

Ameijoas à Bolhão aremadewth olive oil, not oil.
It was made with olive oil which is an oil 😅
It's not cilantro, it's coriander ;P
It is cilantro. Google translate it :)
