When we get fresh clam in the Philippines, my mom let the clam soak in salt water. So that the clams will spit out the sand inside of them. So that when you eat ,your not eating the sand too.
In the PNW (wher this video was filmed) we do the same, but with some oatmeal in the water to encourage the clams to feed.
When I lived for a while in the Dominican Republic I remember spending a Saturday on some long empty beach near the border with Haiti and these local guys I came across who were so welcoming - we dug up clams, caught crabs and finally some kind of perch caught in a small river in these woven cane cages they had - and then later in the day everything was boiled up in a big cauldron they had brought with rice boiled in another pot. They added the juice of wild limes, some local herbs and salt they brought. I produced a big bottle of Brugal rum which I had in the car and the mood was perfect. One guy invited me to spend the night with his family in their very simple banana leaf and coconut leaf thatched hut in their little hamlet. I had brought my tent but they wouldn't hear of it. The next day I drove back to Santo Domingo and my high pressured job thinking 'that day, and that food and those simple good people who were so kind to an utter stranger, this, this I will never forget".
Should keep in touch!
Dude this guy is living the best life....I’m inspired to be like this!
nice shovel ;) no worries she'll sharpen back up easy with a file . I dont bother with sharpening the bottom very often any way just the side I use for cutting
Dude!! Wtf! How did you even end up here hahaha that’s so awesome. My brother loves your channel. He’s gonna flip!!!! I’m texting him right now.
I still come back and watch this video after a year, love the catch and cook videos!
I love the way how you appreciate the simple meal you’ve got there 👌
Pretty flower, gorgeous scenery, looks tasty, nice blue shirt.
Looked like the perfect day. Thanks for sharing.
mmm that looked good !
Fowler's Makery and Mischief Hey I’m following your 30 day Canadian series right now. Big fan and also a subscriber.
Nom nom...perfection. What a great day...nature! Thanks for sharing a slice of awesomeness with us, Jimmy.
👍💕👍
💚🤘🏼
You might not have had your fill, but think how happy you made those two gentlemen. You are the winner here. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
That sound saved my butt a few times. Love that sound buddy!
mmmm the best way to do it! catch and cook right there on the water...nothing beats getting your hands dirty and rummaging around the mud for clams lol
So yummy :)
I taught my dog how too dig em up for me. did a great job. My dog and i ate a bunch for lunch butter and garlic was great. I use to just head out to the parks and tie up on the bouy's then row too shore and let my dog sniff em out. then i would help by digging them up..
Wow that was AMAZING! Moving out to Vancouver Island in August and I love love love shellfish. Will be so much fun and BETTER catching and cooking on the shore. ❤
This video rocked thank you!
If i was not eating dinner while i watched this, i would have surely died from hunger because that looked so good.
Stunning scenery, very picturesque. Looks like a great place to live and chill out 🤓
Hi fr, pls support mi chn ruclips.net/video/HAyUuQF1CSMl/видео.html
Great video. I know how hard you work at the filming. You deserve a lot more viewers. You definitely put your work in. Well done.
These videos always make me hungry.
Wow. I'm hungry for clam! That's amazing where they live. Thanks for sharing.
Just did this out on Whidbey, but took along water, instant dashi, miso, tofu in a baggie, pre-sliced green onions & seaweed to throw in with fresh clams. Also yummy. Beer is good as a drink, or you can cook clams in beer which is tasty for a chg.
Looks like a beautiful day to cook on the beach! Looks like fun
Darn it! I didn't get to experience clamming while living in Seattle. Thanks for sharing vids like these Jimmy. Outdoor activity in Washington is awesome indeed. Used to live by Seward Park and those Blue Angels used literally to pass over our head every 10 minutes on summer.
If you set the live clams in clear salt water, right out of the bay, they will relax and pump a lot of the sand out of their interiors.
Yep should purge in ocean water
Never fails, any kind of clam, oyster or mussel.
I've never purged or cooked any sort of bivalve. I've heard to use saltwater, but with cornmeal added as an irritant. Any thoughts? I'm in the desert in Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA so it's not something I run into much.
Fun sweet little video, thank you from the Olympic Peninsula!
Grab ya some French bread next time to sop up that juice!
I love your videos man!! I don’t even do “outdoorsy” activity’s such as this. But watching your videos makes me want too.
I just moved back to Birch Bay/Blaine in Washington a week ago. Been away for two years, and can't wait to harvest some fresh clams. (New England) Clam chowder is my favorite. I'll make a huge pot of it, and share it with all my neighbors. Can't wait. Happy to be back next to the water. I missed the salt water smell in the air. Sadly, the cottonwood blooms are killing me right now.
Keep up the great vids.
-Trystian
If I only knew how to make that chowder part. :(
@@jimmygimbal It's easy and delicious. Bacon, onions, potatoes, butter, heavy whipping cream, salt, pepper, garlic, and of course the clams. I also add a dash of nutmeg. It's too bad that I can't harvest clams right now due to red tide in our area.
The 3 In -1 coffee is such a good tip! It’s delish- don’t underestimate it because it’s instant.
If the Ranger finds you are over-limit... that's what the fighter jets are for.
I miss walking Washington's beaches.
Butter, wine and garlic - the three basic food groups.
bro, you've like missed a bunch of them, tossing them away like they are rocks. It's sooooo funny
You should do a local food video everywhere you go! Never had clams but now I gotta get something to eat, you’ve made me hungry! 🦞🦀🐟👍🏻
🤗🤗
Some lightly toasted rustic bread dipped in the broth would be amazing, you should try it sometime.
My mouth is watering!
How is it possible that those clams are just sitting in one spot?! I'm just amazed!!
My guy just wants to clam, but instead the usaf strafes him 😂
Hahah can’t you see I’m on my FREAKING LUNCH BREAK! ✈️
Ok, you made me bite my monitor, but it tasted great. I was stationed at Whidbey Is from 1970 to 1975 and loved fishing near Deception Pass. This video brought me back. Thanks.
Looked so relaxing. Awesome videos man.
Great video! Would love to see more - need more catch & cook washingtonians!
Looks good, lots of good eats out in the wild & the best thing is you know where it came from. Unlike the stuff in the grocery store

@@jimmygimbal i never knew how cool aquariums are. Cool stuff man.
I wonder if after you're done eating if you can crush those shells up and toss em in a shrimp tank to raise the calcium levels.
A nice flat wood to chop on and he uses a round one for the pan to eat off 🤔
Sneak peak Jimmy is filming the new top gun 🛩️
It’s what I call LOLgic.

I've never eat a clam or an oyster but I may try it now. You sure made it look good and simple to prepare!
If you want to purge, you have to soak them for 20 minutes in fresh water.

Swhiskey oh dude-you know I’m going to!
I’m not a clam fan. But, I bet that sauce would be perfect for shrimps. We may have to try that at the lake this weekend. Enjoyed the beautiful scenery.
Very tasty! Could just drink that broth like a beverage.
