LaCosta has got to be the coolest girls name on the planet.
*LaCosta Tucker* (born December 12, 1951) , sister of Tanya Tucker.

I haven't thought of The Geezinslaw Brothers in 30 years, we actually named a dog Geezinslaw , after them when i was a kid

I wonder why she never became a big star like Tanya. They sound alike and I believe LaCosta was singing before Tanya.

It is probably because Tanya hit the big time first, and the fact that they sound similar.

They sound hardley anything alike. Go play tanya after listening to lacoste an then ask yourself again if they sound alike. Lacoste sounds good but tanya has a unique sound. The rough sound to tanya's voice is just unlike any other.

@@liz3424 To be fair, they DO sound alike. La Costa always has that husky tone to her voice, just like little sister!

LaCosta was actually singing in her family first. By the early 70's had scored a recording contract with Capitol Records and had a few radio hits. She did pursue other things later in life such as an airline flight attendant and she went to College. Baby sister Tanya moved forward BIG TIME with her own career. I know this because I spent over 40 years in country music radio.

Not saying she has a bad voice because she has a nice voice but she just don't have that gravel that Tanya has. There's no comparison. LaCosta is missing so much. When it comes down to it, she just don't have the "it" factor that her sister Tanya has.

Fine song written by Dave Loggins and also recorded by England Dan and John Ford Coley in 1978.

I think Dave's lyrics are simply incredible. LaCosta did a great job. The fact that she never really made it big shows just how tough it is to get ahead in that business.

Song selection leads to many shortened careers

Nothing wrong with Lovin Somebody. It's a catchy stellar song and LaCosta Tucker had a fine taste in picking her songs.

I think she sounds more like tanya when she talks than when she sings. Tanya sang lower octaves, especially when she was younger, lacosta always sang a little higher.
Tanya had that deeper tone and gravelly vibrato that Lacosta never had...maybe as a child...but we dont know...other than that...they dont sound alike when they sing . My opinion.
