Fun Fact: The "Donut of death" was used, because the main goal was to neutralize, not to kill. It still cracks me up that the Firearms industry continues to send expensive guns in cardboard boxes. sure would be nice to get at least a nice soft case with a $2000+ firearm.
anthony pellegrini I did get a copy of the original manual they issued soldiers which is awesome!!!! I also got some grease, the soft case is quite nice too.
It seems that every time a European gun is manufactured in the US they manage to screw it up over there. Never had a problem with my Austrian made AUG's , Swiss made Sig's or German Sig Sauers..

When I bought my first one I had the same grin on my face. I do think the original Austrian produced AUGs were slightly better quality, plus mine was zeroed at the factory. My friend who sold it to me was a Class 3 dealer so naturally he had the full auto version. What I really liked about that version was that there was no selector switch. For semi auto you just pulled the trigger slightly back until the break, and for full auto you pulled the trigger all the way to the rear. Sounds confusing but once you got the hang of it, going from semi to full or back was quite intuitive and easy. All in all a great design ahead of it's time which is why many still consider it the best bull pup out there. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
$2500 for a cardboard box with a rifle in it? Surprised there was even a magazine. That's just modern day banditry. Seems like a "lul let's make some cash!" job. Not even a fitting manual. Wouldn't be shocked if there's a picrail out there you can rollpin on instead of the 1.5x and end up with an actual A3 in a wonky stock.
That's kind of where I am. I would expect 3 magazines to fill the 3 empty slots in the box. If you're not going to ship them, then why cut the holes? I would expect a cleaning kit and sight tool. I also expect a freaking owners manual that at least covers the features of the damn rifle! Oh well... I still like it, but I was disappointed for sure.
The AUG hasn't come with a cleaning kit or sight tool (if you bought an original A3 sight) since the days of the Sabre A3's. Been years...ten plus or whatever. I'm sure it's a cost saving measure. The cleaning kit, I wouldn't care much about personally. But a sight tool should have been included. Plus a manual for the sight. That always annoyed me in recent years. Empy mag slots or whatever...eh. How many rifles come with more than one mag nowadays? Not many. As for the Pixel's comments..it goes like this. The original guns are the A1, which is what this gun is sorta, kinda based off of. Then you had the old A2. Which had the same optic available. But also could remove it and attach a kind of rail section for optics. Then the A3, with a flattop. Then this housing on the anniversary STG77 model is the M1 receiver. It's the same type of system as the other A3 M1 models available. You can loosen a couple bolts. And have this slick sided optic. And optic housing with rails on the side (ala A3 SF or SF 0 ). Or a very shot rail section, a longer rail section, or an extended rail section like the first A3's. The optics on the STG77 come from Austria and are made by Meopta. The optic housing is made by Steyr. But because of the laws here in the States. The lower receiver housing is made here in the USA. The STG77 is a cool gun. But it you want a true/closest clone to a military STG77. You'd have to pick up an original preban green AUG.
Military Arms Channel, the problem is that people buy it even with those issues, and don't get me wrong I think these retro rifle builds are awsome, but people, like you in your video, need to let the manufacturers know we want quality in exchange for our money.
Don't really matter what it is in detail, doesn't it? The competition in this price category simply offers more. It's also not just about content, it's about quality, too. And I don't mean MACs apparently iffy trigger bars. I don't want a 2.5k rifle in a cheap cardboard box (it's even cheaper than the one IMI uses for the Tavor...but they at least give you two mags, or used to), it should at least come with a soft case. And considering they aren't STANAG, a second mag would be even more appreciated than with other rifles. Now, one could understand the price...a "retro-buff"...for this "Stg77" if it were truly to spec of the A1, which the anniversary name would kinda suggest...but it isn't. It's this weird mutant creation of the A3....looks like an A1 from afar but doesn't cut it once you get a good look at it. So for the price of, say an MR556. Or even worse, $700 more than a Tavor, you get a kinda-sorta retro-lookalike rifle with non-standard mags and a crummy optic (I got to use an original Austrian Army Aug once for cross-qualification...urgh...the optic is almost as bad as the shitty 3.5x on the G36 and that's a tough ask)...yeah...no thanks. I like retro guns as much as the next guy, but in this case, I'd take practicality. Tho I might be slightly harsher than y'all, since I can only practically own a few guns and even that is a bitch and a half (love you, Germany...not....go fluff yourself)
It might be that MAC has a lot of money actually and he doesn't give a shit. He might have few extra mags laying around at home and etc. so he is not overally disappointed... who knows?
When I got my AUG in the 80's it came in a cardboard box with 6 30rd mags. It also had a cleaning kit and the sight adjustment tool. The cleaning kit even had a plastic bottle to hold cleaning solvent or oil. Steyr made a doughnut site that has a small center dot inside the circle. I replaced my optic with this and the precision of my shooting improved. Although poo-poo'ed by many this is my favorite rifle.
Look into a Corvus Defensio brass deflector to protect the stock. No drilling or cutting to mount and works like a charm at deflection brass and allows for right or left hand shooting
Im Austrian and Steyr AUG is CORRECT same as Steyr S-T-G 77. S-T-G is short for Sturmgewehr Austrian production guns are perfectly zero'd, every piece...
Mexico City if that's the case then that is indeed shit I have only shot one of these at a indoor range when I was on holiday in the US i was hoping to move there one day to own a A1 as the A3 i didn't really like with the RIS rail
Mexico City Steyr absolutely has not fallen off if you look at their handguns. I carry an S9-A1 and shoot so accurately at the range that some dunce of an instructor asked if I do competition shooting 😂 it’s the gun, not me. Ive also put over 4,000 rounds through the gun. I’ve also shot a Scout, which is nice, but I’d probably save a grand and just go with a Savage Scout. But Steyr has by no means “fallen off.”
Great to see the A1 being fired. I'm an ex Australian infantryman, we used the F-88A1 built under licence by Lithgow Arms here in Australia. Two quick lil things.... 1. The trigger pack should just drop straight in, I dare say being brand new it just needs to bed in. 2. The rear swing pin just pulls straight out,you don't need to do what you did. We never got internal cleaning kits with the A1, we were issued old M-16 cleaning kits. We never had the cleaning kit cover and we'd always lose the sight adjusting tool...useless thing it was. We also had a single shot lockout button under the trigger that you could push out with a casing rim but most guys were pretty good at judging trigger pressure and being able to fire off a single shot easy enough without going full auto. I never was comfortable with the foregrip when shooting either. You're right about the spacing between the receiver and sight, the original A1's had more space there. I noticed you didn't remove the bolt/firing pin to show that set up as well as the gas piston and you didn't lube them plus the rails....why's that? Your sticky mag is just because it's new...get used to smacking it in. I also never noticed any marks from ejected casings on the butt stock...but our rifles were pretty well worn in being service rifles, so I never really noticed.
Watched an unboxing video of a camera.... all it was was an unboxing. Some dude went off the nut about it not talking about battery life and that tje video didnt include info on all other options available. People will qq about everything.
Steyr! You can't label things as a monument to history and the greatness of a rifle and have it perform worse and have less in the box items and features than a Chinese knock-off rifle! Really disappointed in the lack of love that went into the package. Great video as always though MAC!
It has the cuts for 3 mags, but they ship one. No cleaning kit. No reprint of the manual and it doesn't even cover the 1.5x scope in the manual you get. Then they bottom the scope out... yeah, they could have done far better. But only 400 will be made so they're probably not going to try and remedy any of this. Steyr fans will gobble them up.
talking to my son today and I mentioned how guns used to come w 3 mags, cleaning kits, sling, nice manual, maybe a sight tool and often a case. now many don't even have sights
I'm just waiting for someone to say "but its a tool! As long as it still functions!" Well ok, in that same context isn't a car just a tool? Would you still not care if your new car/truck got all scratched up as because I mean hey, it don't affect the operation of it right?
Just bought SME Ordnance AUG, Malaysian joint venture manufacturing with Steyr. And it's classic green AUG A1 with all the same specifics as original Steyr. I'm very Happy with that even it's used one.
A cardboard box and one magazine for a $2500 gun what!! I was upset when I only got one magazine when I bought my Kriss Vector and that the case is a bit narrow but at least they gave me a trigger lock, a cleaning kit, an owners manual, and sight adjustment tools but damn Steyr way to kill that Christmas morning vibe with your cheapness!
I know I think of Die Hard and I also think of The Governor from The Walking Dead. The AUG/STG77 was his signature weapon and I remember when He mowed all his own people down with his rifle and a Beretta 92SB
betaich me too, met a Austrian soldier (I think) while was in Kuwait on my way to Iraq and asked him how he liked it. he let me play with it for a minute. The first thing I noticed was it was heavier than my M16A2. I really didn't expect that. Neat rifle though id like to have one with the 20" barrel. maybe eventually won't be this year though.
sponsporship suck bro, they can do whatever they want with you after you sing the contract I've been sponsored years ago as a rally driver and I got to tell you it sucks balls man, you become your sponsors rag doll. Of course there is an option which is, don't sing it. Pay for your shit with your own money, at the end of the day you'll feel better than any one else. Sponsorship is for people who like to show off and don't really care about their life much...that's my opinion
Atleast thats what my Sergeant told me in Australia the first time I picked one of the Australian made F88 AuSteyr's up (basically an Aussie made, licensed copy of the STG77 AUG)
It's not zeroed so It might be dangerous in certain circumstances , but that might also be intentional, to prevent idiots to shoot it accurately in mass shooting. In a hurry
They only made 400 of these apparently, do you really think that is the case? Or does Steyr do that with all their weapons? Still ridiculous to have to zero it from factory.
+floppycoin My steyer aug Z got zeroed in by Steyer Austria. Still trying to get my license to get a full auto a3 Its a long ass waiting time to full auto weapons here but at least we are allowed to own them without a manufacturer/ trader license
Oh look...just like the one the Australian Army was happy for me to use from the 1995 on-wards, we call in a F88, they are quite good. Lithgow arms make them and there is now a new model with a removable optics. Best fun I have ever had on a range weekend, must have shot over 2000 5.56 rounds, with no issues.
When I was in military our stripping procedure was different. Also out Steyrs didn't come with cleaning kits inside a stock either. We used US-military vietnam-era cleaning kit with 4-section cleaning rod and attachments. A slightly different reticle was also used on our sights.
With $2,500 I could buy a Bushmaster ar-15, BFSIII trigger, a decent optic, and a bunch of 556 ammo to last me awhile. I'll pass on the AUG. Great video though
Nice review. I actually have owned a (civilian) semi-auto Steyr AUG with green stock, 20" barrel and original 1.5x integrated scope with the ring reticle since 1991. Absolutely love that rifle. Have competed with it in many IPSC-styled matches for several years and won many trophies with it. Never had any trouble in hitting what I aimed at with that reticle. The point is that you should take time getting used to it. The funny thing is that the human brain can instantly recognise if something is in the middle of a circle or not. And that's EXACTLY the way to use this reticle. You should not try to put the imaginary center on the target but instead center the target within the ring. Then it suddenly becomes a pretty fast sighting system. The original ring is set up in such a way that the average standing man will fit inside the rint at 300 meters (330 yards). Bullet drop on the .223 is such that if the rifle is zeroed correctly, any (military) target can then be hit with relative ease as long as the shooter places it inside the reticle's ring.
That factory sight adjustment reminded me of the last time I went to the range with a buddy of mine with his AR he’d had for a couple of months. It was so far off, when I started looking for impacts at 100 yards they were a good 7-10 feet off, hitting near the top of the first berm.
Go to a bike shop and get some clear protective frame film. We use it on chain stays to protect from chain slap. It will keep the brass from dinging the stock. I use it on my slick side AR upper. Good stuff
When I went into the Steyr booth at SHOT Show years ago, they had some folks from Austria there. The one I spoke to about had a fit when I said "Awg". He corrected me and said it's "A U G". I said, "Welcome to America."
I guess it depends on the region. When I bought my Aug, the seller said "Aug", everybody on the range I go to says "Aug". They are more like: omg can I shoot with your Aug ;)
Wolf1898 it's not just acronyms, I have a friend that gets pissed when I say 338 Lapua Magnum. I say three thirty eight. He says three three eight. People argue over everything.
Glad I hung on to my original pre-ban green 20" A.U.G.! My local gun store has the new standard black version with 16" barrel for $1,499 so they are coming down, just not as low as sub $500 AR's that are plentiful now!
Military doesn't see it as an issue. It doesn't get worse. 40 year old stocks don't realy look different from a new one with some hundred rounds through it.
I can usually get any gun(i've tried which isnt many) in the very close ballpark, by placing the crosshairs on the cross of the paper, firing, then lining up the crosses again, then tightening it down on the bench, double checking that they are still alligned after tightening, then adjusting the crosshairs to sit right on where the bullet tore through the paper, use a little spray paint on the hole if the target is too far away to see the hole
Treat yourself to a green laser bore sight tool. It will save lots of time and ammo. You can get on paper quickly at close range. With green instead of red you can use it outdoors in daylight. If it's not super bright I can use one at 25 yards. When it is very bright it will still work at about 10 yards or maybe a bit more. I put off getting one because it seemed expensive but now I am happy that I got it. After enough time it will pay for itself in wasted ammo. Even a red one will get the job done at 10 yards on an overcast day. Red is cheaper. Thanks for the great videos.
I eliminate all the chance of regretting the selling of a gun by just never selling one. I own ten guns. Ive sold no guns. Ive been given 5 of them as well lol.
Also Tim, mine did not come with a buttstock cleaning kit either. My trigger pack did however slide in and out with ease and didn't get caught on the trigger rods at all like yours did. Thanks a lot and take care.
Say what you want about the Tavor/X-95, but at least you get a cleaning kit and other gear for an expensive bullpup. I would be quite disappointed if I paid $1800 or more and just got one mag and an A# manual in a cardboard box.
Just watched your range day video with your original AUG that has the Elcan on it. The QCB was to allow a soldier to put a heavy barrel with a bi pod on it to perform as a support weapon.
I just don't like calling SOG knives "sogs" as in "soggy". To me, "S.O.G." sounds really cool! "Sog" just sounds way un-cool. Who likes soggy anything?!?!? Soggy shoes? Soggy cereal? Soggy pants? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?
If you were a little older, you would recall a Special Forces group called MAC-V-SOG. It was pronounced Mack v SOG (like soggy). It was short for: Military Assistance Command, Vietnam - Studies and Observations Group.
I knew about the "Studies and Observatios Group" which was meant to be misleading, but I didn't know the rest of that. I had never heard another human being say the name S.O.G. so I grew up pronouncing them individually. Thanks!
i already know a little bit about it, 1 it has a receiver made primarily of polymer, 2 it has a progressive trigger (half pull for single all the way for full auto) and its easily configurable for left/right hand shooting
Aug shits on the tavor . The tavor is only good at close-medium ranges it doesn't shoot long distance accurately with its short ass barrel any sort a breeze will send its rounds off target.
The Tavor is an unbalance buttheavy garbage stick. Stop fucking up perfectly working foreign rifles with your low level rip offs. I havent had a single stoppage in over 4000 rounds and none of the problems shiwn in this video. Learn the prpper procedures and use the actual weapon ...
Thanks for taking the time to make the Aweg video MAC! I actually have one on layaway at Buds now. I was hoping you could comment on the performance of the 20" rifle VS your 16" AUG: accuracy, recoil, sound level, etc.
I was a bit concerned the 20" barrel and the A1 style optic would change the balanced feel I like so much about the A3, making it front heavy. I just couldn't resist the, for the lack of a better word "sexy", A1 styling. Thanks for the feedback!
another difference to the original StG 77 is the front grip. in the 80s it was completely rounded and not as ergonomic as this front grip from later productions. greetings from austria. loved to see our military and police service rifle on your channel. thx!
These old ones even had the croshairs outside of the "donut". (And the camming pin was harder to dis/reassamble than the "newer" ones with the ergo grip and without the crosshairs)
It doesnt seem nearly as good as the one i shot (manufactured in Austria) It seems like the american made AUGs have way more issues, jam regularly and use different, inconvenient technology.
It's easy to say that because we have special gun laws in place federally that doesn't allow us to have fully manufactured foreign guns, parts have to be made in the US in order for it to pass BATF requirements for legal civilian ownership. But at the same time the manufacturing pants here could make better quality for sure.
I did my Military service back in the 90s with this rifle and it performed well even with the standard scope at 150yrds on moving Targets! But seams steyr don't care much anymore about the Classic..
Reminds me of Arsenal rifles. They always come in those flimsy cardboard boxes.. This, however did work to my advantage once as I bought an Arsenal SLR104 brand new with torn box for $785. Best purchase I have ever made
Nice video! I like how thorough you are and professional you are in your videos. Some of the other gun channels don't seem to take the weapons as seriously as they should. Well done all around though, really enjoyed this video. I've always been a fan of bullpup rifles and the Steyr has been one of my personal favorite guns ever. I'm glad I stumbled upon this video! I definitely hit the subscribe button like 2 minutes in!
I just bought a Steyr Usr through an auction and I love it, I don't understand the unnecessary hate towards bullpups, they operate just the same as standard rifles except they're shorter and balanced with the same power lol
Thanks MAC, this video reassures and along with some AUG forum posts - glad I painfully pulled out of a STG77 pre-order. While I always wanted the classic AUG and tried the A3 & M1, I honestly believe these AUGs are overpriced for what you get - cough, cough but its military grade and overlook fit & finish as its military proven and in active use. In my unofficial civilian studies, while the cool factor is high - people (average janes and johns) will absolutely pick something over this AUG if you have to pack it and use it for any extended period of time. Nostalgia has not yet worn off, I have some hope looking at the Lithgow Atrax.
Small fact about the scope...In 150m range, you should see an 1.8m tall man fit exactly inside the small circle...makes it also quite easy to estimate the range a person is away when looking through the scope...
So Cool Bro!!! I enjoy watching you fire your collection of Firearms and thanks for sharing the new ones. FYI, a completely correct way to start a zero is to do a notch count. Hub to either side so it does not move anymore, then count the number of notches or clicks till it stops, divide that number in half and that is the mechanical Zero... That should put you close to the center of the paper at least that’s how I was taught in Basic Training. Should come in handy in the future, and save a couple bullets.
That's a cool gun. but yeah very interesting on the difference's between the two rifles. cool keep up the great videos. I also enjoyed the hank strange live chat you did very informational.
In Australian service with the F88 AUSTEYR, we just pull the butt retaining pin out, and remove the butt plate and trigger pack. No need to push in first as it just adds an extra step. Great videos though!
If I remember correctly, (and memory is failing!) the NATO stocked guns have a different guide rod setup (only one trigger bar) than the standard stocked guns. I believe it has something to do with there not being a bolt release on the NATO stocks. Also with the NATO stock, I believe it's right handed only...no left-hand option available. As to the electrical tape... with the FNH P90, they seem to throw cases hard against the plastic ejection well similar to the AUG. My fix to prevent dinging up the stock was to put a piece of peel and stick Velcro in the well, opposite the spring-loaded trap door. I used the piece with the loops, not the piece with the hooks. The thickness of the built-in adhesive pad, along with the spongy loops seems to prevent any impact damage to the stock.
Fun Fact:
The "Donut of death" was used, because the main goal was to neutralize, not to kill.
Also, an 1,80m person fits perfectly into the "donut of death" at 300m, that way you could estimate distances.
Greetings from an Active Austrian Army Soldier still using the original STG77A1.

Been watching this channel for 5 years and subscribed for 3. SO AWESOME! Long live AUG.
way to sell out to the Military Arms Channel wearing their shirt in the video.
A RUclipsr has to shill for someone! These are tough times for us.
Bug one of the big bosses for a raise!! Lol
Im Austrian and Steyr AUG is CORRECT same as Steyr S-T-G 77.
S-T-G is short for Sturmgewehr
Austrian production guns are perfectly zero'd, every piece...
Servus
Exactly! Your CORRECT is right. StG was born from "Sturmgewehr" (StG44) which a Father of all AK's plathform rifles of the World.
Farid you are a liar off to the gulag...
*Austrian patriotism intensifies*
Mexico City no lts a Great gun
Mexico City if that's the case then that is indeed shit I have only shot one of these at a indoor range when I was on holiday in the US i was hoping to move there one day to own a A1 as the A3 i didn't really like with the RIS rail
n0la I got triggered XD... (making advertisement for AR rifles ....O_O)
Mexico City
The AUG A1 is a great Gun. But this American Made version is shit. Try a real Austrian A1 and you would love it.
Mexico City
Steyr absolutely has not fallen off if you look at their handguns. But Steyr has by no means “fallen off.”
currently doing my conscription in the Austrian Army and the Stg77 A2's we are using also have a 1.5 zoom- @19:20
It's great that you are so excited! Made the video!
Its kinda sad that you had to preface using a simple acronym because people would complain about it. Great video, as usual.
Thanks. Eh, people will complain about most anything.
That right, but so stupid.
Just a matter of time till some smartarse will complain about not pronouncing AUG in German. ;-)
Armee Universal Gewehr = universal army rifle.
StG = Sturmgewehr = Assault rifle
77 = Model adopted in 1977.
;-)
Watched an unboxing video of a camera.... all it was was an unboxing. Some dude went off the nut about it not talking about battery life and that tje video didnt include info on all other options available. People will qq about everything.
I love the Sound of this Baby, shot it myself when I was in Military Service in Austria
Steyr! You can't label things as a monument to history and the greatness of a rifle and have it perform worse and have less in the box items and features than a Chinese knock-off rifle! Really disappointed in the lack of love that went into the package.
Great video as always though MAC!
SchmidtStorm yeah, I'm going to agree with you. Seems chucked together without any concern or love.
But that is how they were delivered to the Austrian military, minus the Austrian bayonet I believe.
SaginawGS cost cutting to make a sell, especially when a large portion of people are going to change that stuff.
New Zealand army @ 2:26. I used these for over 6 years in the NZDF and very good and reliable.
Who else cringed as he was dragging the gun all over that STEEL table...
Chris Collins rusty
I'm just waiting for someone to say "but its a tool! As long as it still functions!" Well ok, in that same context isn't a car just a tool? Would you still not care if your new car/truck got all scratched up as because I mean hey, it don't affect the operation of it right?
Chris Collins wear and tear on firearms makes them look nicer to some people
Seems like you would have a hard time seeing what the issued ones had to endure in the last 40 years.
$2500? Yeah I'd try not to scratch it
Gentlemen, i carried that rifle for approximately 16 years. I LOVE IT. IT IS OUTSTANDING. SUPER ACCURATE , AND RELIABLE.
Tim, are you sponsored by The Military Arms channel?!? I'm disappointed... Kidding of course! I'm a proud patron!!
Yes sir, I proudly sponsor myself! It's disgusting, isn't it? LOL Thanks for being a Patreon!
Military Arms Channel - jeez... ya sell out... hahahahaha!!! Thanks for all you do Tim!!
Leatherhead Hoseck he's also sponsored by jeep. lol
Stephen B is he sponsored by copper customs?
He is part of Copper Custom ! LOL
Just bought SME Ordnance AUG, Malaysian joint venture manufacturing with Steyr. And it's classic green AUG A1 with all the same specifics as original Steyr. I'm very Happy with that even it's used one.
I have an A1 from the early 90's and it does the same thing with the trigger pack if you don't line it up right
Out of all the channels I watch I'm most envious of MAC's collection
AUG and FAL? I call them Stg77 and Stg58.
Greetings from Austria. ;-)
and we got to shoot them a lot, even though back then we didn't want to... (shooting means cleaning, and that was no fun)
Roland Lindner Geputzt habens doch eh die GWD. 😆
Fresh out the box and it looks perfectly natural in your hands.
Doesn't the Kriss take glock mags? Kind of seems like it wouldn't matter how many mags you got
Thank you for the acronym critique. I enjoyed that a great deal.
Would love to be sponsored by Monster, lol. Pretty sweet box for a pricey item! Geez. All I can think of when I see an AUG is Die Hard.
I know I think of Die Hard and I also think of The Governor from The Walking Dead. The AUG/STG77 was his signature weapon and I remember when He mowed all his own people down with his rifle and a Beretta 92SB
Strange I think of the Austrian military.
betaich me too, met a Austrian soldier (I think) while was in Kuwait on my way to Iraq and asked him how he liked it. he let me play with it for a minute. The first thing I noticed was it was heavier than my M16A2. I really didn't expect that. Neat rifle though id like to have one with the 20" barrel. maybe eventually won't be this year though.
Mean Man niceee
sponsporship suck bro, they can do whatever they want with you after you sing the contract
I've been sponsored years ago as a rally driver and I got to tell you it sucks balls man, you become your sponsors rag doll.
Of course there is an option which is, don't sing it.
Pay for your shit with your own money, at the end of the day you'll feel better than any one else.
Sponsorship is for people who like to show off and don't really care about their life much...that's my opinion
I used this is in the Irish army, won many a shooting competition with this rifle, scary accuracy in the right hands.
A vintage space gun? Kinda ironic
Nymeria Gloves How so? By that wording, a Saturn V is a vintage space rocket.
Does sound oxymoronic lol
Nymeria Gloves , "A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away...."
Steyr used the "doughnut of death" as you put it originally to discourage soldiers from attempting longer range head shots
Atleast thats what my Sergeant told me in Australia the first time I picked one of the Australian made F88 AuSteyr's up (basically an Aussie made, licensed copy of the STG77 AUG)
"Now I have a machine gun. Ho ho ho."
that was when he picked up the MP5 John never touched the AUG
Will M He knocked it out of blondie's grasp after he had the muzzle pressed to his head...
Thank you for spending the money, sweating, enduring rude comments and taking a lot of time to make these wonderful videos.
They probably figured no one would actually bother to shoot it.
greylocke100 How so?
It's not zeroed so It might be dangerous in certain circumstances , but that might also be intentional, to prevent idiots to shoot it accurately in mass shooting. In a hurry
Disadjust your firing pin
They only made 400 of these apparently, do you really think that is the case? Or does Steyr do that with all their weapons? Still ridiculous to have to zero it from factory.
+floppycoin My steyer aug Z got zeroed in by Steyer Austria. Still trying to get my license to get a full auto a3
Its a long ass waiting time to full auto weapons here but at least we are allowed to own them without a manufacturer/ trader license
Oh look...just like the one the Australian Army was happy for me to use from the 1995 on-wards, we call in a F88, they are quite good. Lithgow arms make them and there is now a new model with a removable optics.
Best fun I have ever had on a range weekend, must have shot over 2000 5.56 rounds, with no issues.
anyone notice MAC features grass and bushes in almost every single one of his videos? what a sellout!
Aardvark __ He must be paid by al-gore.
He is sponsored by the weed industry - note he shows you an awesome hiding place for your stash in the buttstock. (j/k, obviously)
When I was in military our stripping procedure was different. Also out Steyrs didn't come with cleaning kits inside a stock either. We used US-military vietnam-era cleaning kit with 4-section cleaning rod and attachments. A slightly different reticle was also used on our sights.
Ya know your gettin' old when a Steyr AUG is still that new fangled contraption.
Him talking about this around 5:20 has to be about the happiest I've ever seen him.
LASER light amplification by stimulated emission of radiation my favourite acronym
jedburgh01 I literally said that today
Teacher “Can you use laser in a full sentence?”
Me “Nice light amplification by stimulated emission of radiation.” 😉
Radio augmented detection and ranging is pretty neat, too.
I have an original starting 81 AUG. very happy with it.
Where is the F90 Atrax?
I wish I knew.
twostangs81 they said 2018 at NRAAM
Ask your local black market organ surgeon
MAC Your going to be picking on up right?
Les Morgan he said he would. Did you even watch the video?
Great video on the AUG. What river along with the video. It's got the soothing sounds that relax anyone listing.
With $2,500 I could buy a Bushmaster ar-15, BFSIII trigger, a decent optic, and a bunch of 556 ammo to last me awhile. I'll pass on the AUG. Great video though
camo man but.....just Look at it.... It's fucking tasty lol
Seems like steyr didn't even try with these rifles
?????????????????????????
Did you not watch the video?
Marc Michel zero was miles of trigger bars were bit buggered the scope wasn't one piece like the original
Owain, I know, I was asking Richard, I agree with you and thumbed up your comment ;) Stupid youtube isn't showing the name you're replying to anymore.
Marc Michel oops my bad haha sorry
That factory sight adjustment reminded me of the last time I went to the range with a buddy of mine with his AR he’d had for a couple of months. It was so far off, when I started looking for impacts at 100 yards they were a good 7-10 feet off, hitting near the top of the first berm.
What a giant "FU" that thing is.
I would have been absolutely furious.
Very comprehensive and non biased I love it!!
most of these anniversary AUGs were bought by dealers and sold at higher prices on gunbroker
Yeah, that's just dirty pool.
Go to a bike shop and get some clear protective frame film. We use it on chain stays to protect from chain slap. It will keep the brass from dinging the stock. I use it on my slick side AR upper. Good stuff
I found some 3M Helicopter tape, 14 mil thick on Amazon. I'll give it a try.
Military Arms Channel probably the same stuff , the bike stuff is 3M too and comes in a 12"x12" sheet
In austria we say Aug like a regular word. (i'm from austria btw)
No we dont , we say STG ....
At least those who served ....
Very well said on the whole acronym argument. Excellent way to stop it cold.
Sadly, it didn't stop it completely. Hehe, there are people in here still arguing it's incorrect.
You need an Australian f90 that would be cool
That's the Atrax he talked about.
This is the only channel I will willingly click on a 30 minute video, and also learn something while at it.
Acronyms like MAC?
I say Mac, because... I'm an American, and talk how I want.
Murica!
YES! Freedom!
thanks Matt for bringing us along the ride it felt like I was opening the box
Hey!
You should try a DP-28 :D
just come from forgotten weapons?
tom williams Yes Sir
Mounted and Loaded
Glad I hung on to my original pre-ban green 20" A.U.G.! My local gun store has the new standard black version with 16" barrel for $1,499 so they are coming down, just not as low as sub $500 AR's that are plentiful now!
You'd think after 40 years they'd have bothered to solve that ejection port issue.
Military doesn't see it as an issue. It doesn't get worse. 40 year old stocks don't realy look different from a new one with some hundred rounds through it.
?????????????????????
The dents from the ejected cases don't damage the stock. It is only a visual issue not a functional.
Yeah it's more for civilian resale value. Still, a brass deflector would not be an unreasonable addition.
yeah Australia has although Austria are still lacking
Mac, some people didn't learn to think before they speak.
Awesome video by the way
We Austrians love our rifles ;D
I can usually get any gun(i've tried which isnt many) in the very close ballpark, by placing the crosshairs on the cross of the paper, firing, then lining up the crosses again, then tightening it down on the bench, double checking that they are still alligned after tightening, then adjusting the crosshairs to sit right on where the bullet tore through the paper, use a little spray paint on the hole if the target is too far away to see the hole
Are guns really delivered and packaged in cardboard boxes?
Yes.
Not all but most.
The aiming circle is meant for measuring the distance. A 1.8 meter target fits right in there at 300 meters(effective firing range).
I forgot how much sex appeal those a1s had
A policy I try to live by now days.
I tossed an eotech on mine, had absolutely no idea where it was hitting. You can literally bore sight it though, which made one hell of a difference.
Would it be possible to put a NATO stock on this rifle? Not that you'd want to, just curious...
great vid bro, keep up the great work
Such a Copper Customs shill. I bet they pay you well. Gah! 😜
I keep twisting their arm. I'll squeeze every last dime out of them!
Military Arms Channel you will need those dimes to adjust that scope
Tim at the beginning with the brand new box, you were like my little nephew on Christmas with his presents.
Hahaha...made in America... or was it China?! Buy one from Austria!
We can't get any firearms from China though 🤔
+Google Pissoff Canada can.
Thanks!
i already know a little bit about it, 1 it has a receiver made primarily of polymer, 2 it has a progressive trigger (half pull for single all the way for full auto) and its easily configurable for left/right hand shooting
and yes the required parts to make it not be single shot are gun steel
Seems like the Tavor is by far the best bullpup
not even close..
Aug shits on the tavor
Also, how is the balance and weight VS your AUG win the Elcan?
I prefer the handiness of the 16" gun, but I love the authenticity of the 20" gun. As for the ELCAN, it balances perfectly on most any bullpup.
I was a bit concerned the 20" barrel and the A1 style optic would change the balanced feel I like so much about the A3, making it front heavy. I just couldn't resist the, for the lack of a better word "sexy", A1 styling. Thanks for the feedback!
They must've zeroed it for 1,000 meters lol.
DartSpitter you mean 1 meter
What a stupid thing to say.
another difference to the original StG 77 is the front grip. in the 80s it was completely rounded and not as ergonomic as this front grip from later productions.
greetings from austria. loved to see our military and police service rifle on your channel. thx!
These old ones even had the croshairs outside of the "donut". (And the camming pin was harder to dis/reassamble than the "newer" ones with the ergo grip and without the crosshairs)
Seems like a low quality firearm for $2,000+
It doesnt seem nearly as good as the one i shot (manufactured in Austria) It seems like the american made AUGs have way more issues, jam regularly and use different, inconvenient technology.
I just bought a AUG for $1650 and that was with the special scope and some accessories. Plus three mags which are $50 a piece.
So glad the Australian Army went with using the Elcan Spectre as the optic of choice along with the F90. Beast of a package
The F90 is SO high on my "must have" list it's not even funny.
Small fact about the scope...In 150m range, you should see an 1.8m tall man fit exactly inside the small circle...makes it also quite easy to estimate the range a person is away when looking through the scope...
Fan of the Aug here. I like this channel. Keep it up
So Cool Bro!!!
