In this video I give this Barbie Victorian dollhouse an extreme makeover. I used it for the Monster High doll series my niece and I created called Skull Academy. Skull Academy is on our kids channel Gingers Doll World (link down below). The house was used by a Draculaura's family, they are vampires, so everything is dark and maybe a bit scary, I did want to make it look elegant as well. lol, that's kinda the look i was going for, i made it that way to use in a monster high doll series on my kids channel 'gingers doll world' :) but the series is over so i'm thinking of giving it another makeover, something a lot brighter :)
The funny thing is, the real Addams family set was actually pink because it intensified the colors when filmed in black and white

@@GingerLolaMiniatures Hmm, hard to say, since I just recently found your channel, but I do like the old diys you've done :) Sure, if you feel like updating interiors, I'd say go for it, up to you :)
I do like Victorian style/old/retro etc in general, since old things appeal to me more than modern, but it too has its own good in it, of course :)

Hot glue for the cracks...no. use titebond or plastiweld

Ah man, I used to have the lilac purple version of this dollhouse as a kid! The second story arch was the perfect size for our cat to go through.

I just said how I wished I could watch you transform an old doll house. But never did I imagine that I’d see you remodel an old Victorian doll house that I actually owned as a child. I remember pulling down the bath tub and turning the wheel at the top of the elevator to transport my dolls. I just felt a tremendous wave of nostalgia. You did an INCREDIBLE and awesome job on making this gothic and glamorous! I love all of the tiny and grand touches that you made throughout the kitchen and living space. Even though this isn’t my personal style it is definitely beautiful and if it were a real home I would surely live in. Amazingggg job on this design!

I'm actually thinking of giving it a new makeover, i made it dark for the doll series i did on my kids channel but now that it's over, i want to make it brighter and more my style as well.... but i do have a few other dollhouses i found at garage sales to makeover, one is a 1:12 scale i found on the curb a few months ago, it was being thrown out, broken in a few places but i'm hoping i can fix it and renovate it :)

I'm curious as to why you didnt keep the second floor for Dracula to have a study or even just a room for Draculily. Other then that do you plan on giving rooms and houses to the rest of the dolls? I'd love to see more house renovations like this
Hi Tiffany, I gave the house a makeover for a doll series I posted on my kids channel...Gingers Doll World, I removed the second floor so it would be easier to film with and for lighting. I did create Draculaura's room for this house as a separate set, I even tried to copy one of the windows from this house in her set, check out the video here... ruclips.net/video/_xGII25eJAY/видео.html

lol! yes the basement, but i did make a separate doll room as Draculaura's bedroom, video is on this channel. I removed the second floor because i was using the dollhouse for a monster high series, i wish now i kept it :) i want to give it another makeover for barbie, more white and neutral colours, but i have a handful of other dollhouses to makeover :) thanks so much for watching!

i love this dollhouse, i did the makeover for a monster high series i did, that's why it is dark, but i was thinking of changing it for a barbie family :)

cool, i still have a lot of other dollhouses to makeover, but definitely will do something, my goal is to make them look as realistic as possible, when i did this makeover, it was meant for a doll series i created with Monster High dolls, so it was a vampire family that lived there :)

The only sad part is that there is no second floor so no bedroom or spooky bathroom lol

I made this for Skull Academy's set, so it was meant to be for Vampires, but I'm thinking of painting it white and change the whole look for Barbies.... what do you think? Should I do it?

I'm curious how this held up without a primer before the paint, and the hot glue on plastic. How did the paper on the wall hold up? How did you apply the paper?
Hi, i have it stored away in a closet, but last time i looked at it, it was still in pretty good shape. I'm working on a video of my dollhouse makeoveres that i have done, i'll add more detail to the video and will pull out the dollhouses for an update, i thought there was a handful but i only found 2... i do have 3 dollhouse makeovers on the go. I think i used white glue to apply the paper, can't remember now, but that's what i would use to do it again, a think layer of glue, or wait a minute, now i'm remembering applying foam board with hot glue and then the paper to the foam board with white glue, i'll have to re watch the video, back then i didn't film a lot of the work, kicking myself now, my new makeover videos will have more detail :) the foam board does stick to the plastic, it stays but if you try to pull it off, it will come off.

thank you, i used water based interior paint, no primber, just sanded it :)

hi, cool thanks so much for subscribing, been going through a move and renos, but starting soon, i'll be uploading more regularly :) i just used acrylic craft paint from the dollar store, no primer, i just gave it a quick sanding :)
Love your video, currently got a doll house that needs re painting for my little girl I came across 1 but I don't like the colour of it but it is plastic so I was wondering what did you use? Did u have to undercoat it before or sand it a little?
That sounds really cool, I didn't use any undercoat, just gave it a light sanding.

lol :) I decorated it that way because I was using it for a Monster High doll series, a vampire family is suppose to live there :) but, i'm not doing any monster high videos anymore because they were discontinued so I'm thinking of giving it another makeover with bright colours, mostly white for a barbie family :) what do you think, should i do it?? thanks for watching and commenting :)
@@GingerLolaMiniatures oh I see, emm, I think you should do it, I'll be nice if you make it colorful/normal, because it'll look legit like a victorian house, especially with the dollhouse's vintage wood furniture, just imagine, red, green, blue, and yellow wallpaper with flowery pattern. If you make the whole doll house look like legit old victorian house(not monster house) it'll seem like you have an antique doll house some rich Dutch person would display in their living room.
@@GingerLolaMiniatures if you do that, it'll look more beautiful, and antique, and not like a barbie house or a goth house, I've rewatch your video and you could totaly change evrthing even furniture to victorian or old style by some repainting. If you made it more beautiful + looking like an antique, it will totaly increase the price from barby dollhouse price if you were ever doing a yardsale, because they pay the beauty and your work :) and you can display it in your living room if you want to for your guest to see and say "wow".
@@juliantotriwijaya9208 I will definitely do that :) I have another dollhouse I started a makeover, hope to have it finished next week, then will work on this one, just hope i have enough paint at home :) i have lots of great scrapbook paper that will look great :) subscribe and click on the bell for notifications on all videos so you don't miss it :) i also have about 3-4 other old dollhouses i found at thrift stores and garage sales that will also be transformed....to something pretty, no more darkness here :)
@@GingerLolaMiniatures I'll wait for this to get turned from dark to antique/pretty XD lol I can imagine you display it in your living room, maybe on some sort of table, frist thing the guest see when they enter your house this beautiful dollhouse. It's like displaying plates, china, ans trophy in your cubboard but with dollhouse insteadXD lol

ideas....um, i guess it depends on what materials you have... do you have paint, and scrapbook paper? you can glue it to the walls, paint the windows etc... i think when i give it a makeover, i will paint it white with black window frames and red door, or leave the windows white and paint the house light grey.... not sure yet what to do :) or you could also make it really colourful, with yellows, pinks etc....just don't limit yourself and have fun with it :) send me pics when you're done, would love to post it on my blog lolasminihomes.blogspot.com/ i have pictures of older houses i made and there's a tab with dollhouses that my subscribers made, i think most of them are skull academy inspired :) there was a handful of people that made a skull academy school and wow, they did amazing work! thanks so much!

What happened to top floor?
I gave the house a makeover to use in a doll series called Skull Academy, so I removed the top floor to make it easier to film with :)
GingerLola Miniature Crafts I also have this house and painted the entire thing black for a Disney villain doll display I use during Halloween time I absolutely love this mansion

that's ok, i'm changing it soon, when i gave this house a makeover, it was to be used in a monster high doll series, but now that the shows over, i want to change it back to a barbie dollhouse, with lots of white, and wood tones, make it look more fresh :)
