For the cabinet doors, you can use q tips and tooth picks to make hinges cut qtip into the pieces glue two to the cabinet and one in the middle on the door insert tooth pick before gluing into place
@@nicolekline1762 awesome tip, it was hard to work with the curvature of the cabinet, but i do want to try again, but i'll work on the other rooms now, i think i'll try the toothpick trick on the kitchen cabinets.
@@GingerLolaMiniaturesyou can use duct tape for hinges inside the cabinet so they don't show. Put a bead or something for knobs to open the cabinet doors. Tape is paintable and comes in many colors
Duck tape.....solves everything. Lol! Beautiful job! Only thing i would have changed was getting rid of the pink. I always try to remove pink from my stuff.
I was thinking of painting the walls, but the colour looks more like salmon to me... plus it matched the wallpaper perfectly... i will probably do another makeover and will definitely paint the walls, and a more vibrant wallpaper :)
I’ve had this exact same dollhouse for over ten years (in my early twenties now lol). I recognized the bathroom from the thumbnail and felt so happy to see someone have the same one!! Always wanted to do something like this with it though!
Maybe it's time you do something with it :) definitely fun :) I can't wait to work on the kitchen in this dollhouse, I'm moving appliances around, and the exterior got an extreme makeover as well :) thanks so much for watching!
The bathroom could use curtains and maybe a mat for the floors since that bathroom has an open door... maybe you could make a sliding door or beaded curtain for privacy
Thank you :) maybe I could add blinds instead of curtains, sliding door would be tough, but i would love to add a door. There is a small crochet rug in front of the vanity. Thanks so much for watching and commenting :)
Amazing makeover! I love how you used the glass vase, that was so smart. I love the look of those little timbers. I need that saw you use. It's so handy!! Everything came out so pretty!!
Thanks so much! 😊 i love the tambour look, so it will be a popular technique in my makeovers, just need to find new creative ways to create it, i'll try not to over use it :) can't wait to start working on the kitchen in this dollhouse :)
Wow, thank you sooooo much, comments like yours inspire me so much :) try facebook marketplace, you might find some there, i like the ones that fold, so much easier to store away. What a clever and creative video! I think your bathroom looks great. Especially enjoyed the wall hanging, the plant, and the basket of toilet paper rolls. I recommend you purchase a rotary cutter, clear ruler, and mat to simplify your measuring and cutting tasks.
Thanks so much! 😊 i definitely need better tools :) i'm launching an etsy shop soon and will be selling miniature decor, mostly wall hangings i'm creating now :)
hey, how are you :) i'm loving the videos i'm doing now, they're so much fun :) they were fun before too, but i get to use my passion of interior decorating now, even if its in one sixth scale :)
That's cool, I'm working on the rest of it this week, should have video ready for Sunday's premiere :) I'm going to try staining it first, hopefully it will look good, if not, i might paint it white, maybe countertop grey??
Thanks so much! Kitchen next, most of the exterior is done, but will need more because now i have to do something to cover the window holes form bathroom, i was thinking 'stone wall' plus i'm also thinking about adding upper cabinets to the kitchen, that will cover the top edge of window....hope it works out :) thanks so much for watching and commenting :)
True, i think the curvature of the cabinet made it more difficult, there wasn't much inside for the leather to hang on to...plus made it harder to open the cabinet :)
thanks so much, i was going to start working on kitchen before dealing with the cabinet, but changed my mind and finishing it up this week, fixing the cupboards, hopefully they will open and staining the cabinets, someone suggested i add the 'wallpaper' to the sides of the walls, but i think maybe leaving the wallpapered wall as the accent wall and leaving the sides??
Thank you so much 😀 whew, that makes me so happy and relieved, I have been promoting it for so long :) thank you so much again. Have an awesome day! xoxo
thank you so much :) that's going to be a major reno, want to switch the oven around :) but in the meantime, if you want to watch a kitchen makeover, i am premiering my diorama kitchen addition today at 2pm, hope you'll watch it with me, part 1 is ready to watch :)
Ginger Lola, I really like how the bathroom turned out. You asked that we let you know if you should stain or paint the cabinet tambour? I think you should stain it. A nice honey brown would be soo very pretty in that bathroom with the wall paper you chose. I love the black faucets. I also love the wall hanging. (Yes, add that to your Etsy Shop- they will sell.) You did a great job on the bathroom. I cannot wait to see how the rest will turn out. Have fun crafting!
Thank you so much, I'm definitely going to stain it, I love the honey brown colour as well, I have a few stains, I think i have something similar. Excited to launch my Etsy shop, i'm working on creating wall hangings, hanging planters similar to one in video, vases and more dollhouse decor stuff. I"m working on kitchen next, but also working on mini decor dupes for next couple of videos while i finish the kitchen, i really want to add an exhaust vent over stove but i'll have to move it, plus create a separate laundry room, just hope that stuff is easy to remove, i see screws at the bottom, so it should be ok? Thanks so much again for your comment and support. xoxo
Thank you so much :) i got sidetracked with the dioramas, but really want to get back to this dollhouse and work on the kitchen next :) the exterior is actually almost done but I haven't shared it.
Thank you sooooo much! someone suggested leather or heavy fabric, i think that might work because it'll give cabinet more breathing room to open so i don't need to remove sticks. I would love to add handles to so it will look more finished :)
I think it's the sticks that's stopping from opening, the hinges work, but i can't open it all the way, someone suggested a piece of leather or heavy fabric to act like hinges, i think it'll give it more room to open, I really don't want to remove any sticks from the side because its cardboard underneath....going to try that first before removing any sticks. Thanks so much for watching and commenting :)
Love it! Only thing I would have did different is painted the toilet seat and the flush handle black also on the toilet 🚻 other than that it looks amazing 👏 😍
thank you so much :) oh right, i should have... i still have other rooms to renovate in the dollhouse, i'll try to remember to do that for the final tour of the dollhouse :)
I do like how the natural wood looks, but my vision was a darker vanity :) did you check out the next part, video is ready to watch, i added lights too :) thanks so much for watching and commenting :)
Great job 👏! Love the new bathroom 😍 That's such a cool house is it foldable🤔? I'm not very crafty so I dont have any advice for the cabinets but maybe watching other vids will help ya 😃
Thank you so much! Yes it's foldable, I only buy ones that are, so much easier to store away. Someone suggested leather or heavy material, i think that may work because it'll give the cabinet more room to open, don't really want to remove any sticks. Thank you :)
i think the first time i tried it with leather like material, i think the curvature throws me off, plus there's really nothing for the fabric hinges to hang on to... but i will try again one day :)
Hi Lola Beautiful ! Love it ! just one question : what kind of glue do you use to fix the windows frames to the structure ? I just bought the same house and the frames do not stay in place
A cloth tape would work for a hinge, and it would be a good idea to remove one dowel from either the door or the cabinet so there's room for it to swing. Just paint the exposed board in a matching color. These type of cabinets use a sort of hinge that extends outwards so it can clear the timbers. Not something you can do here, sadly.
Thank you ... i didn't know these curved cabinets needed a different hinge, that kinda explains why it didn't work for me, i think the main problem was there wasn't anything straight to apply the fabric hinge to on the inside :) thanks so much for watching and commenting :)
i may try fixing it again, i think the curve was throwing me off, plus there wasn't much for the hinges to hang on too, but i do want to try it again :)
I created a couple of kitchen cabinets recently with fabric as hinges and it worked, but i think the curvature of the cabinet in this bathroom is throwing me off. I may try to fix it again but i'm just afraid i may ruin it, but it's something that can always be fixed :)
I always look for cheap materials too, so happy garage sale season is here :) plus my thrift store is having a 50% off sale this weekend. i usually do my 'thrifting for miniatures' video as a #short, buy maybe I could make it longer and go to a few thrift stores for a longer regular video?? what do you think? I guess i could try one and see what kind of reaction it gets, the downside of a #short video is the camera moves too fast because of time...? let me know if that's something you'd want to watch.
i'm going to try one to see how it goes, tomorrow Talize is having a 50% off sale, and i'll hit a few others on Monday, I like creating the thrifting for miniatures and thrift and style videos. Thanks so much :)
sorry about that, during the process i include almost all steps in the video, when i create a new video with all the parts included in one video, i shorten it down ... some people have mentioned they like watching the whole process :)

SO COOL!!!!!!!!!! Makes me want to find an old dream house and do my own, but the last one I found was still like $90 at a Dang Goodwill...!
Thank you! $90 at Goodwill, that's crazy! Check out Facebook Marketplace, you might find it cheaper. :)

I use a soft piece of lether. I find the small metalhinges very difficult to get to work so it fits well.
True, i think the curvature of the cabinet made it more difficult, there wasn't much inside for the leather to hang on to...plus made it harder to open the cabinet :)

What are you using to adhere the wallpaper? Modge Podge
I used white glue, thin layer ... mod podge would work too :)
Try hinges made of leather or heavy cloth.? More forgiving.
great idea, i was thinking tape as well, but i think heavy cloth will work better :) thanks!
Wouldnt is be easier to take the furniture out, They are clicked in?
true, but they're really clicked in tight, didn't want to take the chance of breaking it : ) thanks so much for watching
😮
The wall by the toilet should be wallpaper, too.
yup, i think you're right, i added a strip to cover the metal bits but might look better on both sides? thank you :)
