Thomas Brown Honorable mentions: Kevin McLee Willie McClendon Musa Smith Tim Worley Robert Edwards Coach Goff unfortunately didn't play Terrell Davis much.
I'm at #7 MUSA... ~ 2:08 Good list so far but Henderson and Worley GOTTA be there!!! END EDIT: I'd take MUSA out, Move Gurley down and Tie Hearst and Hampton for 2nd, and move Henderson/Worley into in those spaces, or even make one for HINES WARD!!!
IMO... if GOFF had not have been so Pissed at Terrell Davis, he could be have been TOP 5 EASY.... Butt GOFF wasted SO much talent .... LOVE GOFF as a Good Christian and SEC champ ... as a Head Coach ....
Goff was a joke of a coach, he sucked at it, He was a good recruiter, but coaching nope, he was way behind, trying to do the same stupid shit Vince Dooley was failing at when he retired. Dooley was a little bit better of a coach than Goff was, but IMO, one of the biggest reasons UGA won that National Title in 80' was because of Herschel Walker, and some luck here and there throughout that season. I mean, they had a chance to win it three years in a row back then, but he only had Herchel and he ran him to death almost? I don't blame him for leaving after three years with the 1 million dollar signing bonus with the Generals.
There were some great backs on there. Keith Marshall was the fastest, but was injured often and was there with Gurley. Behind Walker I would have Chubb then Gurley. The rest were pretty much equals!
I dont know who thinks the list aint right, i been a dawg fan for 41 years, this list is legit. I would have switched a number on anyone of them. Great job brother GO DAWGS!!!!!!
atleast 6 of those running back in this top ten were brought in by mark richt say what you will bought richt but there was never a season during his career as head ball coach at uga the bulldogs didnt have a top 5 running back in the the back field the man could recuit studs at the running back position
I agree that Chubb should be number 2 behind Herschel. Hearst was good, but, he is was not Chubb. Also a lot of people saying that if Chubb would have not gotten hurt, he would have flirted with Herschel's record. He might have, but also Herschel only played three years when they didn't play as many games or have the playoff's. Herschel was also injured a couple times that limited his playing as well. Overall though you could switch a few around but a good list.
Chubb and Gurley and Moreno and Michel all put up absolutely monster careers despite the fact that they we’re splitting carries or missing games for suspension, or declaring for the draft and limiting the collegiate career, and unfortunately with significant injuries. These guys were all so damn dominant. I love them all for the joy they gave me watching my dawgs
My opinion is similar but my top 5 was quite different. And I didn’t see Swift on the list. He was a stud and the last 1000 yard season rusher we’ve had
Great list. Would've liked to see Chubb higher though. Also hope that Swift can earn himself a spot in the next 2 years if you ever remake this list in the future. Go dawgs.
@@pjmac550355 That’s true. I was there for it and it’s, to this day, the most impressive start to a career I’ve ever seen. If I’m not mistaken, I think he was moved to RB from a DB position. I remember the game against Tennessee where he got hurt...Tennessee could not stop him that night...he was dragging guys down the field...that entire UGA team was butchered by injuries that season...if that team had stayed healthy Ray Goff probably wins 10 games that season and gets a couple more years as head coach...that team had talent everywhere when it was healthy...which wasn't very long...

I really like Todd but I would put Garrison at #2. Saw him play in high school back in the day he was unbelievable. His time at Georgia he was good. His Junior season I think he had 22 touchdown he was outstanding.
That's a nice list but and I mean but Keith Henderson, Lars Tate, Robert Edwards ,Willie McClendon. You left out a lot of them really good old school guys and Robert Edwards maybe the best Pure Runner that Georgia has ever had Sans Herschel
UGA is Running Back U. You guy's get them from everywhere. That used to belong to Southern Cal back on the day. Walker Gurley Chubb Hampton Michel Moreno...
All great running backs. That's why we're running back U. However, there are only 10 spots on this list, I do think Swift will end up on this list though.

Hershel, Chubb, Hampton. Crazy thing about this is Terrell Davis was most talented of them all.
This is a great list; there are so many great UGA running backs that it's hard to choose. Herschel was obviously #1, but there will always be questions of where to place the others in the top ten. If you had Garrison Hearst and Todd Gurley on your team who is the starting tailback?
Somewhat agree, although out of this 10 Chubb is my favorite of all time. Dude belongs on the list for work ethic and humbleness alone! Greg Talley and Robert Edwards would have made my list as well. GO DAWGS!
Unfortunately he only got to play one year for the greatest running back in college history this is just my opinion Barry Sanders look what he did in just one year
I know this was two years ago but Todd Gurley ain't going to the Hall of Fame unfortunately as long as Nick Chubb stays healthy he will be in the Hall of Fame that is the greatest running back I ever saw at Georgia my lifetime never got to watch Herschel Walker I was just a year old when he left there but in my lifetime I have never seen a running back as good as Nick Chubbs. Ok, I might be biased because I'm a Giants fan but Rodney Hampton should be higher. As far as duos go I'l take Eric Dickerson and Craig James every time, also there was that combo of Thomas and Sanders to consider.
I love Todd Gurley to death and he is a top running even in the NFL. But let me kno if yall think he would have had the same attention if ISAIAH CROWELL was still there
