I personally - would love to hear some chord playing and various comparisons with the pedals. Its nice to hear how they sound with lead lines, but a more thorough & complete demo should include some chords and the different levels of "clean to gain" and tone shaping - each pedal is capable of. Just my input, ( however ) I do enjoy your demo's.
Hmmm, I have two version 1.2 ocds from 2005 and you can’t go wrong with an old one as they are dialed in perfectly ! The later ones are different animals. I like the XSD a lot but I have a bb preamp which I’m hearing similarity’s but will eventually pick one up. I guess you can get a little more gain and dial out some of the mids. I love the xotic stuff a lot... we will see. Good vid. Tx
My favorite was the first setting of the OCD with the gain turned down. That's the sound I'm looking for. The higher gain setting of the OCD sounded muddy, and the Soul Driven sounded ice picky at all settings to my ears. In the Xotic line, I prefer the SL Drive on the Super Bass setting.
Hi, first of all thank you for this review. Second: You play ... just great. I forgot the pedals, found myself listening to you playing and had to watch the video one more time. I bought the soul driven a few weeks ago. It sounds nice but there is quite nothing happening when you turn drive and midboost beyond 1'o clock. That's a pity. And: When you turn drive just to the breakup point for very slight grit/rhythm work and want to make it scream at the solo part - and thus use a booster... it does not take it well. It only gets louder and the sound gets really bad. Unfortunately.
Hey Dale, here's the link to the ones I am using. They have up to 20 db of reduction, i use them on practically all of my gigs and they fit comfortably. www.nstuffmusic.com/p-84550-ety-plug-er-20-standard-size-high-fidelity-earplugs-blue.aspx
Huh. The tone is dialed back on the OCD for both songs, I wonder if it were raised (or the switch to High Pass) if people's perceptions would be different. The second track is definitely more muted sounding. Some nice playing though, I like the Midnight in Harlem progression on the second track.
I use my OCD with the High Peak switch on for the "Marshally" sound. I bought the Soul Driven pedal and use it as a boost after the OCD without any gain on the SD, and it's magic. If you have your amp cranked or with a little overdrive, it works well too. I love both pedals and this combination is great. By the way, I use OCD, since I lost my Marshall Guv'nor, but that's another story.
Soul Driven has warmth and bloom! Would soot my style better. Just my opinion
I'm looking at the Soul Driven after watching this. Great demo and really nice playing! Thanks!
The first track sounded like a John Mayer chord progression hahahaha! Nice vid!
Both sound great! OCD colors guitar's tone more, while Soul Driven is more transparent. I choose the Xotic!

Soul Driven sound amazing
soul driven !!
Love them both in different way's, may have to get both!
Haha sounds like the right solution!
Great demo - groovy playing - many thanks for the video.
Good phrasing. Nice conversational tone of things left behind in the first section before increased drive. I mean to the playing.
I love the XSD, one of my favorite OD pedals. To me, this pedal shines with the mids about 2:00 o'clock, with my amps anyway.
S.D for me !
Was that second loop the chords to TTB's Midnight In Harlem?
You got it man! Thanks for checking out our page!
Beat me to it Paul! Lol!

Certainly should have turned the tone knob to noon much more high end from the Exotic.
nice demo, and nice 68 cvr(?)
I liked the Soul Driven on both tunes, much more articulate...OCD sounded muted in 1st tune and kind of mushy in the 2nd tune.
OCD ! A bit choked. I got both .

what amp were you playing through?
Flame Homie!
What ear filters are you using?

I couldn’t tell the difference
Soul driven is muffled
Great, not I gotta go buy Soul Driven.
