I love both Scream and New Nightmare. I can see the Scream tapped into the social consciousness in a larger way, but New Nightmare wasn't just some kind of stepping stone. It was a badass flick. And, again, late in the series of sequels grounded the film in story and character journeys instead of jokes and creative kills. New Nightmare is one of the best of that series, and actually the very first one I ever saw. I was surprised at how little Freddy was in it. Great movie.
RIP Wes. I haven't been this heartbroken since the passing of Robin Williams. I'm truly devastated by Wes's death, like so many around the world. Thanks for the inspiration. Love to you and your family xx
Great interview. There's a lot to learn in this for up and coming filmmaker's. Wes was really down to earth, soft spoken....it's not surprising he used to be an English teacher.
I remember watching scream in the 90s as a teenager and the movies “target” audience and it felt so real and resonated so much...no I can see why.. Wes seemed to get teenagers and I also agree that the teen years are incredibly difficult..a great and very intelligent man
@@mickgarris2555 it's a good thing you had the foresight to record these interviews before they passed. To share them with us and future generations. Thanks Mick
Anyone know what was Mr. Craven's original ending that he had written for ANOES? I've heard that the ending we see in the film (the whole _sunny morning / convertible top / mom grab_ sequence) was not his idea, and that he really disliked that ending ... but powers above him prevailed and insisted on it.
Such a gentleman and brilliant storyteller. Really comes across as a personality to admire.
such a smart and thoughtful man. thanks for everything, wes. rest in peace.
Thank you I appreciate it x
Rewatching this today, after hearing the news. Two greats of horror film makers.

Could listen to this man speak all day. Such a legen R.I.P
You feel the loss of Wes and so many cinematic geniuses who won't be giving us anything new....Thanks, Mick, for doing this for posterity.
He was a great guy and a great inspiration!
8:08 "right off the bat, let's credit *Kevin Williamson*..." :-) Credit where credits due ;-) RIP sir.

Love that story about the random drunk terrifying a young Wes Craven. If only he knew!

It's amazing to me that Wes Craven owed his franchise to a scary random drunk.
Can't believe he's gone. Absolute master
A tremendous loss.

@@danseth5775 A pleasure. I'm glad you're enjoying them.
Wes Craven was a genius, and I don't use that word lightly.
Your a penis and I don't use that word lightly.
Redfield 100% lol
@@redfield1007 😂😂😂😂😂
great interviews.......these are gems..........
Incredible stories and insights. A remarkable person.
I can't believe the infamous Freddy Krueger was based on some random drunk guy that scared Wes Craven as a kid..😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
How the hell did Elm street go from the tight intellectual reins of Wes Craven to Freddys Dead?
Can't belive he is gone. Tobe Hooper as well. Can't belive they are gone. Please, Mick. Have Masters Of Horror come to life again
RIP Wes Craven

R.I.P Wes Craven!
RIP to a master

What an intellectual.

Nancy waking up, the whole movie having been a dream.
@@26michaeluk Oh, that is interesting. Not sure if I like the idea, but it's interesting. Thanks.
Its the same ending just the car is a regular one and freddy doesnt take away nancys mom.
I didn't know where to ask but I am interested in knowing if you have done or plan to interview Stephen king?
SwagGlam Beauty Always a possibility. We live on opposite coasts, and it’s a timing thing. One of these days!
That would be amazing!
I don't like how Mick interupted him at 0:15
