**About this video**
In this video Siddharth Tambar MD from Chicago Arthritis and Regenerative Medicine discusses rheumatoid arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis symptoms, rheumatoid arthritis signs, and what are the first signs of rheumatoid arthritis. - Наука
Recognizing signs and symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis early is critical. This video discusses essential findings to be aware of.
I can’t tell you how unsettling it is to know there is a rheumatologist shortage and it’s going to take months to get an appointment but keep hearing rheumatologists online talking about how important it is to be diagnosed and begin treatment early.
😊
Strongly consider a telemedicine consultation with a rheumatologist. Your imaging and lab tests can be ordered remotely. While you wait to see someone locally, a telemedicine consultation could have you on the path to treatment asap.
@@ChicagoArthritis it’s funny you got back to me today. After four months, I’ve finally had my first appointment with a rheumatologist this very day!! I’m a bit of a mystery to him at this point but based on my symptoms, his exam and the labs my GP ordered, it is clear I have an autoimmune. Now we gotta figure out which one. My GP and I both think it’s RA. Labs and images next week, follow up in October. Plus another great thing is I must be coming out of this flare. I’ve adjusted my diet and added several supplements. My efforts must be working because my pain level is so much more tolerable. It was truly excruciating for about three months but right now I’m often at 4/5 in the mornings and about a 2-4 throughout the rest of the day. Very manageable considering I was in the worst pain of my life everyday, all day up until I began to improve. Thank you for your suggestion and just taking the time to reach out. This has been a difficult time and I genuinely appreciate anyone’s kindness and compassion. Thank you.
This makes sense why it took me so long to get an appointment even with a referral
Which is another reason why it's so important to take your health into your own hands as much as possible. Keto and even carnivore style diets are probably one the best things for autoimmune diseases and symptoms . And/or add to it some fasting or at least intermittent fasting.
Diagnosed in 2010
Started methotrexte humira enbrel 4 years of chemo non hodgkins retiximab till it affected my heart and now on rinvoque 5336.00 a month but so worth it

Thank you for educating me.
I am 74 and a RA patient I am seeing Rheumatologist and I am doing regular exercises and medications and eating correctly, so far I still can walk and do anything in my house
That’s great to hear. Maintaining exercise and your normal activities of daily living is so important in managing rheumatoid arthritis.
Thank u 4 sharing this video. I've learned a lot
Very good explanation of RA and a description of the symptoms I've been experiencing for the past two months. Now if I can just get my rheumatologist to change his diagnosis from OA to RA and prescribe the right course of treatment.
Very nice explanation
Thank you Dr. That was very helpful. God bless you sir.
You’re welcome, and thank you for the kind words.
Excellent presentation
Thank you.
If there are other topics you would like to learn about, please let us know.
Thanks!!
Thank you so much!
You’re welcome.
thank you
Most of what you mentioned, described my symptoms .
Sorry to hear that. Definitely get evaluated. There are excellent treatment options available.
Thanks
Thank u sir
Thanks for sharing.. I am definitely suffering from rheumatoid arthritis
Sorry to hear that. There are excellent treatment options for RA. So there is hope.
You tested?
Thank you
I hope your husband takes good care of you
You just cleared up some things for me here. I was uncertain . I've been dealing with this for a year and 7 months now and Allina health just kept doing the blood and piss test results . I gave up on them as I can't trust this place . It's about the money 💵 and not about the care of a patient. Which is why I'm now going to the mayo clinic. But I do have a rash/hive too which I believe is vasculitis so I'm dealing with that as well. But I get tingling in my nerve endings from my feet to my hands and swelling in my joints . I've had moments where my whole arm went charlie horse on me and pain in my knee caps . It's hard to do warm showers due to the vasculitis so I just run my hands under warm water and I take light warm showers .
Hope you are doing well
You have just accurately described my condition...RA it is!
How you are fighting it
I am suffering from rheumatoid arthritis for about 12 years and now my hands are deformed which is very stress full and heartbroken for me 😢😢
Sorry to hear that. Hopefully you are appropriate treatment to prevent more damage and progression. Occupational therapy can frequently help as well for functional limitations.
Biologics
Is the 14.3.3 rheumatoid arthritis level being high a good diagnostic tool for ra? Along with elevated inflammatory markers? Factor and Ana were negative but 14.3.3 very positive
I hope your partner takes good care of you
My hands feel like the bones or whatever get stuck sometimes. It's strange to try to explain, but it feels like it is splaying out, and getting stuck. It almost feels like it's going to cramp, but it doesn't. It is random, not always on the same spot or hand. Then it stops after a few seconds.
I have all the signs of RA, but it’s mostly in one hand. The fingers in that hand are slightly fatter than the fingers in the other hand. Inactivity will make the fingers stiff almost right away.
I wrote a herbal remedy for hands that my husband is using.
Sounds suspicious for possibly RA. Definitely get evaluated for inflammatory arthritis.
@@tinayeung366may i know what herbal?
I have swelling and redness in a few finger joints but no pain. Some uncomfortable feeling in one finger as the swelling is quite bad. No pain of the joints or other symptom you mentioned. I know I have poor circulation and the weather has dropped cold. Could it be for this reason?
Possibly could be circulatory issue. Or could be arthritis. Get evaluated and have your doctor perform a diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasound to determine the cause.
Herbal medicine is the best treatment for Arthritis sister I’ve been living with Arthritis 😰…for more than 5years now but I got rid of it naturally after using dr Omo herbal medicine his channel 👉 @dromocure
I wish I was in Chicago.
I have been feeling stiffness and inflamation (red and tender to the touch) on both my ankles and wrists and sometimes my neck gets so stiff that it is hard to do anything, let alone sleep. I am trying to get an appt. with a rheumatologist but the openings are months away. Would applying heat or ice packs help? TiA
Yes ice and heat can help.
If you are having difficulty seeing a local rheumatologist promptly, consider a telemedicine appointment to help expedite an appointment with a Rheumatologist outside your area.
For over two months I’ve had pain in my joints in the morning for the first hour or two after I wake up. Sometimes it takes even longer to stop in some joints. Doctor said all my blood work is normal and that I just need to go to a gym. Been going to the gym 6 weeks now. It didn’t help.
What gives those joint aches but won’t show up on blood work?
Blood work is only part of the story. See an expert who knows how to make a more specific diagnosis for you.
Sir my palms are hurting like someone has slapped them 200 times or some heavy truck tire has ran over my hands. I dunno if its RA??
I also have CRP levels of 0.8mg/dl.
Or say 8mg/l.
Best to get evaluated by a board certified rheumatologist.
My SI joints are horrible. The pain just radiates through my whole body.
Sorry to hear that.
Assuming you don’t have inflammation in the SI joints on MRI, dextrose prolotherapy or PRP helps quite well with SI joint dysfunction.
Pain in the pinky side of the right hand more than 6 weeks, and recently have been feeling pinky pain / burning sensation on the left hand. Could this be Arthritis ? or is it work related (computer) ?
Possibly arthritis, tendinitis, or nerve issue. Evaluation, and possibly ultrasound or nerve testing may be necessary to determine cause of your symptoms.

My hips and knees kill me at night I'm always hurty. Developed a hard pea sized lump in finger joint in index finger that hurts.
Cut ALL sugar out of your diet. It will be tough. Do it gradually over a month. You will most probably get withdrawal as it is said to be harder than coming off cocaine. But in the end after 10 days of no sugar - you will start to feel much better. All the best. PS: I did this protocol for six months and all my nodules went away!!!
Doctor, what are the possible treatment options for RA?
Many options.
We’ll make a video to discuss.
@@ChicagoArthritis Thank you. I am a Christian missionary living in Honduras and we do not have good options for treatment here. Looking at basic remedies.
I think I have RA but my primary doctor refused testing as I “didn’t present outwardly any signs” 😭 Of course my family history of it also doesn’t make a difference in her testing me. Needless to say I no longer have a primary 😐 and I’m still in pain.
See a RA specialist, namely a Rheumatologist. If you see a condition once a year you'll have a different perspective compared to if you see it 20 times a day.
I have arthritis in my neck and pelvic and they have recently found erosions in both wrists and knuckles. I also feel the same grinding and swelling in my shoulders and pain in my feet and swelling near ankle bone and underneath. Bloods came back negative for rheumatoid. My step mom has advanced rheumatoid which is very very bad...when she began having issues with her joints it took 7 years to get a positive rheumatoid and my father it took 3 years. It worries me as i have 4 young children and im struggling so badly...constantly in pain. 😢
If you have objective evidence of active inflammation in the joints, your rheumatologist should consider treatment.
@ChicagoArthritis they won't put me on treatment because my bloods came back negative even though it showed it in the xrays ...
I've been told to go to physio then if they spot any issues then they can refer me
My hand and left knee joint pain is not continuous. The pain comes back in like suddenly every 2-3 months. From a blood test, the general physician ruled out Arthritis. He prescribed only Ibuprofen. The pain keeps coming suddenly at night, stays for the whole days and goes away. It's hampering my daily life suddenly. What should I do
Definitely see a Rheumatologist. Between examination and diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasound, they will be able to determine a cause for your pain. Note that labs can be negative. It’s only one part of the diagnostic process.
What RA factor is high in your opinion?
It depends on the lab settings. Any level that triggers a positive result by the lab is considered a positive test.

Hello, im 26 old.
I have pains in joints of hands and feet, some pain in lower back occasionally, and have pain in knees too, but there is no such morning pain. I went for RA factor which IS NEGATIVE. I have uric acid 7.9, and Vitamin D and B12 deficiency.
What is the possible cause. Please suggest

One month ago i got pain and my blood work says RA factor 52 and i have pains in knees and fingers ankles neck am currently having aceclo plus what should i do now?
See a rheumatologist. They can more specifically guide you. And yes your presentation sounds suspicious for RA.
@@ChicagoArthritis okay sir
I had the same . It happened after carona, my toes and fingers get stiffness. I use neuro vit B it helps.
Pain and stiffness in hips ankle and right wrist the pain sometimes makes me drop or can't grip things the stiffness I get in morning is approx 20 mins or slightly longer but I also stiffen up if I rest for periods of time I end up having to walk around painfully but eventually loosens up but foot will swell up badly I'm 38 years old could this be R A
Possibly.
Get checked out by a Rheumatologist.
I experience pain in my hands, fingers, arms and feet. This is like a come and go pain which last for 2-3 minutes. Swelling in my left hand , mri says "The study reveals subtle bony articular surface irregularity with tiny cystic areas , mildly reduced intercarpal distance along with altered signal involving all the carpal bones (except for pisiform bone). There is involvement of the carpometacarpal joints predominantly 2ndto 5th carpometacarpal joints associated with marrow edema involving the base and proximal shafts of 2ndto 5th metacarpal bones. There is extensive synovitis about the carpal bones especially in the radiocarpal, intercarpal, and carpometacarpal joints. There is mild synovial effusion". Anti ccp is negative. Doctor is not sure if it's RA or not. Pls advise
Morning stiffness only in left hand and no where else
A diagnostic ultrasound of the wrist would be very helpful in your case. You have described enough to warrant seeing a Rheumatologist.
@@ChicagoArthritis ultrasound also done alongwith MRI. Both indicative of RA
Sounds like you need to see a Rheumatologist and discuss treatment options.
Too bad for me. I'm a guy, who is 37 and have joint pain for 4yrs now. Just surprised cause of my age + gender, that I have this. Taking Naproxen but also using Advil Arthritis which works better. Fingers + toes hurt when sleeping, but my palms and feet hurt too now. Which started a month ago. Oh well..... Great video!!!
Definitely get evaluated by a trained Rheumatologist. Help is absolutely possible.
Some may benefit from Goodbye Lupus protocol. It restores health to many with autoimmune issues and not just lupus. Including RA. It has helped me become mostly symptom free and normal labs. Best regards.
Wow. How comforting to see someone confirming that Dr. G’s protocol has worked for them. ❤
My right foot aches. I have been diagnosed with planters fascitis. It got so bad I quit a job. I was getting cortisone shots but they wore off hence me leaving the job. Now my entire right foot aches ALL the time. It's stiff all day and hurts badly. I have some ice socks that help and take Aleve but I want this pain gone. It's a throbbing pain on top and the bottom. When I flex my foot it aches and I am tired a lot. I need to go back to my podiatrist. I can't take this.
I hope your husband takes good care of you

Did u get the diagnosis plz reply soon
I know have this but can't get diagnosed. I have arthritis in my hands and thoracic region but bw is negative.
Imaging can be helpful. Ultrasound of the hands and MRI of the thoracic spine. And definitely get evaluated by a Rheumatologist.

Its been a year my left hip is hurting by doing an mri scan it shown a cyst near sciatic nerve and now after 1 year my other hip hurts occasionally. What should u suggest me sir?
You need a proper evaluation to decide your treatment options.
I have had pain for several years now. My general practioner believes I have RA but no specialist will see me saying I'm too young (36). It has been untreated and I've have been feeling very discouraged.
I am sorry to hear that. RA can occur in young children up to the very elderly. A specialist can not refute a diagnosis without first doing an evaluation. It’s unfortunate when specialists create such barriers to patients being able to see them.
I'm 37 and my general doctor said I have rheumatoid arthritis but she's sending me to a Rheumatologist to give me the official diagnosis. I'm sorry. Age doesn't matter. Go down the list of doctors and find one that will see you.
Keep searching until you find a good doctor

I'm 21 and my doctor suggested the possiblity. Insist your doctor or find new doctor who will get it checked if possible.
Will Pain and swelling be there in the same joint for more than six weeks ?
It's not normal for that to be the case. You should see a Rheumatologist to determine the cause of your pain, and then determine an appropriate treatment option.
Joint pain at night time . Clears during the day..Affects by elbows ,hips and back.
Video to be made discussing this issue
Sir iam suffering from siviour hip pain, my Ra negative, but esr and aso titer also positive, is this rhumatoid arthritis? plz reply sir
Impossible to say just based on what you have presented. A proper evaluation is needed to diagnose and give you treatment recommendation.
Sir, what can be other reasons of morning stiffness and numbness in hands in the morning..?
Many other potential causes.
Low thyroid, osteoarthritis, carpal tunnel syndrome, pinched nerve in the neck are just a few things to consider.
@@ChicagoArthritis Sir, please let me know what can I do at home to reduce this morning stiffness before going to a doctor. I am really worried even though it is there only for less than 5 minutes in the morning thinking that it is an early symptom of any kind of arthritis.

I am very scared at present being only 56 years old coming from a family of strong fit people i had no idea whatnwas coming,in early february-2024,i,started having snapping noises in my knees & shoulder stiffness 😢😢 accompanied by utchy eyes,by mid March i had snapping wrists weak painful thumb & forefinger, snapping & cracking in my spine and hips,i am going to make an appointment with my doctor as i am getting worse and more tired by the day,i am worried it will be dismissed as oesteoarthritis in menopause & ii will not get proper tests and medicine.Should i ask for blood tests with maybe an x-ray,my left hip is the worst it made a very loud cracking noise like a branch being broken and has never gone back to normal.I apolgise for my writing i am very disturbed & frightened, thankyou,Paula,England x
Yes please have your primary doctor order appropriate labs and X-rays.

I m can't scroll mobile with my thumb and feeling difficulty while writing. And also feeling uncomfort and stiffness in thumb and hand joint. But its prominent pain. Is it arthritis?
Could be arthritis or tendinitis.
Fairly straight forward evaluation by a physician should be able to differentiate and give you answers.
Hi ! Its really informative .. coyld u plz guide me that in such condition should i visit neurologist or orthopedic physician?
Neither. You should see a Rheumatologist.
@@ChicagoArthritis tnx for instant reply.. appreciated ..
Is it possible when one tests negative for RA blood tests and negative for auto immune disease ten years after first symptom of wrist pain after a few consecutive hard falls and have it?
Lab testing for RA is not 100% positive. If you have active inflammation in the joints, that can still be RA. Alternatively if you have no inflammation, but rather instability and degeneration, then a regenerative medicine treatment could be helpful.
@@ChicagoArthritis thanks for the reply. There is no instability or degeneration. Just pain around the wrist because of my falls. Lifting weights 8 - 10 pounds can trigger pain around wrists as well, I guess because of repetitive motion. I'll just keep on eye on it.
After an injury or repetitive motion, the ligaments around a joint get strained and stretched. At some point the ligament is unable to fully heal on its own, resulting in chronic weakness in the ligament. That leads to mild chronic instability in the joint. Symptoms include pains with mild to moderate activity and stress on the joint. That sounds like what you are describing.
@@ChicagoArthritis I think you're right. I went overboard with my strength exercises with the dumbbells and repetitive motion and now I'm suffering. I just want to strengthen them. So you believe this is a permanent problem? I even wear wrist straps when working out and probably invested in $300 worth of braces and ktape all these years.
The ligaments can be strengthened with prolotherapy and Prp treatment. That option gives you a better chance at improving stability long-term, maintaining a high level of physical activity, and pain reduction.
What if it’s the same type of pain swelling as RA but it comes and goes within 24-48 hours

Q&A- Early rheumatoid arthritis or something else
ruclips.net/video/fRSOUQwo51E/видео.html
I have been diagnosed with both MS (2010) and Fibromyalgia (2001) . Starting about 8 weeks ago i have been experiencing stronger and stronger pain in my Toes, Fingers, Wrist, Elbows, Knees, Shoulders and Neck. I was sick with the flu right before this started. The pain is strongest when i wake up accompanied by stiffness. It does get better when i move, but does not go away. I don't see swelling or redness. Could this be RA? I've been believing it's Fibro, but in my toes, hands, wrists, I'm just getting more concerned it's something else.
Possibly RA. See a rheumatologist for a good exam and ultrasound to help determine your diagnosis.

What is a normal RA factor to you?
Varies based on the lab and their set limits of normal versus abnormal. Even slightly abnormal in the setting of inflammation in the joints needs to be properly evaluated.
