      @@DariusSarrafi as a former conservatory student myself having studied under Dorothy DeLay for several years and watching many conservatoire students I can tell you how much talent makes a difference. Hard work only gets you so far without talent..

    He was in İstanbul 14 April 2022 with same jacket🧥, first time listen him. Awesome. 🌟 Also he was very gentle.

    Albrecht Mayer is a living legend. I still can't believe I heard him live in Istanbul last Thursday night. He plays great and flawless. I would like to thank my girlfriend for inviting me to Mayer's concert 🙃

    Always a giant on the classical music stage, it all goes back to J.S. Bach and his compositions. Such an influential composer, I named my first son after the Brandenburg concertos. 😎

    Keeps that light, dancing quality that is more “JS Bach” to me than a serious, stern interpretation. Very nice!

      I will just add that much of his sacred music is, properly, of a solemn nature.

      Very well put. All baroque music is, in one sense of another, music of the dance, and to truly get the proper feeling and grace, it mustn’t be romanticized too much or played with too much heaviness

    The articulation from this mature and confident soloist is such a joy to listen to. The sound is also very good here. I don't know how many times I've played this clip.

    Ich habe kürzlich eine Series R-Performance in den Berliner Philharmoniker gesehen und geweint, als ich diese Musik von Albrecht Mayer hörte. Ich wurde ein kompletter Fan von ihm. Es ist ein himmlischer Klang und so ein schöner Klang. Ich möchte es wirklich noch einmal sehen. 🥹💗🥹🫶

    Is an oboe d'amore, not an oboe. It is pitched in A, unlike the oboe which is of C pitch.
    For years this existed only as a harpsichord concerto but Bach wrote a colleague he had written this for the d'amore. Original never found...this is a reconstruction done in the 80s.

    The colour of his tone is really exceptional. I wonder why he gets so red in face in comparison with other oboists at his level like Dominik Wollenweber or Vilhelm Veverka...High blood pressure?

    bach's rigid form can't be forced to be presented.
    this performance is too forced and felt fake.

    This is not good for his health. You see how red his face is turning? He’s going to pop a blood vessel or have a brain aneurysm. Playing phrases that long without breathing is putting too much exertion on his body and raising his blood pressure to a dangerous level. I can’t help but feel that the human body wasn’t meant to play an instrument like that.
