That squeaking sound is not a wiper problem, it’s the window that’s dry. Add rain x or nufinsh to the window and boom problem solved. Smooth and noiseless wipers.
Using WD40 or any type of alcohol is a bad choice. Here's why. The rubber wipers are impregnated with a coating or graphite from the factory so they don't "screech" when in motion. Using WD40 or alchol removes most (if not all) of the carbon - that's why there is so much black stuff on your cloth. A better idea is to use a moist micro fibre cloth and wipe the blades gently to remove any foreign objects or grease. Then clean your window with a quality automotive window cleaner that is ammonia free. You may have to clean the window a number of times. Good luck.
Absolutely correct. The alcohol also dries out the wiper blade. I don’t know how often I have read this “use rubbing alcohol”. After you used it you can directly buy new blades
All these cleaners that claim to restore wipers blades are just BS too. Just get a cheap new blade and save on buying useless sprays and lotions that claims to restore rubbers.
the WD40 needs to be used from the first install of new blades and reapplied about once a month. the other half of this equation is you need to wax your glass at the same time. this reduces drag and crates beading of the rain water and also adds lubrication for the blade. the main reason for the WD40 is to coat the rubber to act as part lubrication and to seal the rubber so it doesn't oxidise as fast, extending the blade life out to several years longer than would otherwise be the case. you can't "recondition": oxidised and worn rubber. you need to protect it from the start.
correct...waxing the windscreen not only protects the windshield...it reduces the friction as the wiper blades glides...waxing also repels water...but to really produce water beading...ceramic glass coating would be most ideal...
Replacing them with Bosch wipers is about the best solution; I did that and they wiped smoothly, quietly and very effectively. A small expense compared to the price of the car :)

That noise come from old rough rubber and maybe because some graphite coating was removed. Anyway, after cleaning of blades and widshield you can shave the blades with a specual cuting device like Ecocut Pro to reveal a better smooth rubber surface for best results reducing squeaking noise. Ok. I'm not an expert, but if you look closely at the video at about 2 .45, just before he turns on the wiper, the water on the glass disappears before the blade even gets to yet
I don't intend to make a deceiving video to waste my time. Yes there was no water on the glass when I started the wiper but I kept spraying water from 2:45 min until 3:15 min and the sound was still heard despite wetting it continuously. Thanks for that observations though. :)
My idea was that a cleaned and restored wiper should be able to clean any glass, dirty or not ? So if it doesn't then it defeats the purpose of a wiper am I right ? Anyway I did attempt to clean the glass in the latter part of the video and it doesn't helped much either.
StreetWorks no. The function of a wiper is to wipe precipitation from the glass that impairs driver vision while the vehicle is in motion. They're designed to remove water. They are not designed to remove solid matter, eg dust (i.e. Dirt) and resin. Dirt and especially resin sticks to wiper rubbers reducing their performance. That's why you have to clean wiper blades- they get dirty just like the windows they are wiping (not cleaning).
@@craighill746 i would like to know if this is a possibility. How can I reduce the spring tension? It is a very strong spring on most wipers. I don't think we can soften it. But of course we can always resort to replace with new blades. This test was made to restore old blades.
Just clean blades with soapy water everytime you wash car, this will make them last longer, but thay wont last forever,as soon as thay get noisey, buy new.
Totaly worse. Besides wiper blades like BOSCH have graphite coating on them and you never clean them, because you remove the coating that protects the rubber from the elements.

I would say that's a definite no, it doesn't work, that's way too much squeek, thanks for the video!
I am now getting skeptical about how the other RUclipsrs get their wipers resurrected with WD-40 ? Perhaps I missed out something ...
I've used this for 20 years. Works well. I have found though that silicone spray works better.
@@carlrest6553 wow that is something ! 👍
Just clean the wiper with shampoo & water, then just apply vaseline petroleum jelly on the rubber, leave it for 3/4 hours, then see the magic
I got to try
Vaseline is a Dust collector
@@gmailgmail8326 ya i think vaseline will smear the glass
It will not smear the glass, you have to apply slightly on the rubber with the help of a clean cloth
@@vivekjain1267 i will try this
WD40 contains petroleum products namily oil, you want to clean a windscreen then saturate a rubber product with oil and smear that all over your windscreen.. NICE LOGIC
Why didn't you clean the glass first?
@@craighill746 agree with you. Can't explain my screeching wipers though.
StreetWorks maybe the spring tension is too tight?
@@craighill746 i would like to know if this is a possibility. How can I reduce the spring tension?
It is a very strong spring on most wipers. I don't think we can soften it. But of course we can always resort to replace with new blades. This test was made to restore old blades.
Just clean blades with soapy water everytime you wash car, this will make them last longer, but thay wont last forever,as soon as thay get noisey, buy new.
why it is giving a noise.before not sound.take care bro.
Totaly worse. Besides wiper blades like BOSCH have graphite coating on them and you never clean them, because you remove the coating that protects the rubber from the elements.
That noise would drive me mad. Definitely a no as far as I am concerned.
A louder exhaust might work ? LOL
He does the rear window because he spends most of his time driving backwards.
Hahaha !! 🤣
Use spoon or your car key or other smooth metal surface then rub it against the surface of the wiper rubber.. the sound will be lost
Spoon ? I'm confused
Thank you for doing this video, I nearly did it for my car myself but now I know it doesn't work.
Better off cleaning it with regular wiper washer sprays.
Squeek Squeek Squeek, yep fixed, but maybe better fix with WD40 silicon
that is the wrong type of WD40 to use...what you are using is a regular WD40...it should be a silicon based WD40 one should use...2nd...wax the windshield to ensure smooth wiping thus avoiding the squeaking sounds...
That's what I found. I watched a RUclips video and the guy said that WD40 would stop the annoying dragging sound as the wiper blades moved across the windshield. I'm here to tell you, it does N OT work. The next time it rained, those blades were going GRUUUUNK across the windshield, which I hate. New blades don't do that, so I'm buying new blades.
Yes you're right. Not every RUclips with million views are true.
don't swipe your blades. this black thing is the graphite. it is there for a reason. a cheap new blade will cost you 3euro
It worked on my car for a couple of days then the noise came back. My wipers are only 6 months old. Maybe I should buy better quality wioer blades
Couple days ago i bought a censored JAV VCD, After using WD-40 it becomes uncensored!
I don't believe. Show me.
at last you forget to mute the video sound :D
music is for your ears. :)
I did this and ruined the blades. They deteriorated. All they did was streak for the next few months. Bought new ones of good quality.
Very good explanation in the video. The final noise is very unpleasant. recommendation: forget the WD40 for that purpose. And buy a new windshield wiper.
Thank you for viewing this video ❤️ hope to share more useful videos in future again
I think I'll just buy a new car... Would be faster than doing all these steps...
Haha I'll just steal someone's wiper. Quicker than buying a car. 😂
I tried it. Quiet for about 12 swipes then sqeek city.
I miss Singapore..especially Orchard hotel, Sentosa and Marina Bay
Unfortunately this is not the right time to travel.
Didn’t work for me...
nice, but new wiper blades are cheaper than WD40.
Yes agree . But no harm trying if you already had one lying around in the garage. Anyway, my experimentation as shown in this video - proven that WD-40 didn't really work that well.
@@StreetWorksProject yes.. i agree with you, also you proved other youtubers claim about WD40 on wiper blades wrong.. thanks
i,m have do this ,the same like you do ,maybe clean only i,m have fat oil on window,s always end this bigger problem
Yeah depends on where you live or park your car. I had a film of mess daily on my windows. Irritating.
@@StreetWorksProject i,m live in tropic here end parking my car in my garage close, only when raining coming big rain end this film from oil go not off end on the end i,m buy new on here ,,all problems fix
Just always keep your car a way from sun and clean your glass weekly once, I guarantee your wiper blades will last longer.
Wiper blades don't cost that much, don't be a cheap ass, and buy new ones.
A dishwasher detergent will do a better job
