Great reaction! I was suffering from a pet loss of my 18-year old dog, when I accidentally discovered BABYMETAL. This song cured my pet loss in one night! - this was July of 2021, and later that year, they went into "hibernation" due to COVID. So you can imagine how thrilled I was when I learned they would be back. So, for their first revival concert in January of 2023, I flew from DC to Japan to see them live. Then recently drove to Philly, and in December will be in Spain to see their last two concerts for 2023. I only wish I could hear Su sing "Akatsuki" live.

The compilation uses clips from many different shows from as early as February 2013 (Legend Z) to as late as October 2018 (Dark Night Carnival - that was the unusual hairstyle you liked). This is one of Su-metal's 4 official solo songs - Yui and Moa would get their chance to take a break while Su performed one of her solos. Her other solos are 'Rondo of Nightmare', 'No Rain, No Rainbow' and 'Amore' which is thought of as a sort of follow up to 'Akatsuki'. Su did a one-time-only special performance of 'Akatsuki' at the Legend 1997 concert. You can find it if you look for 'Akatsuki' (unfinished version) ... it is an acoustic version, just Su, piano and strings and it has a completely different feel - same song, same melody, same lyrics (apart from the last line is not included) and it could be mistaken for a completely different song.
I'm not a fan of compilation videos, but I liked that we got many close-ups of Su in various stages of her development. I love her facial expressions, what a charismatic person!

It has all what I like in music: power metal, crazy guitar solos both dueling and harmonizing, an amazing bass line (good job noticing it!) and of course the perfection of Hideki Aoyama on the drums. His control over the double kick is mind-blowing, the guy is a human metronome. Not to mention Su-metal's incredible vocals. To me, this is perfection. Although I can't say the same about the fan-made visuals on this mash-up video, which clearly don't do the song justice. Fun fact: before the concerts the girls were asked which songs to rehearse, so Yui and Moa always asked for "Akatsuki" just because they loved to see Su perform with the cape. Nice reaction. Akatsuki is a great song. They've done lots of variations to the performance of it. From a total balled with just Su and piano, to many of the awesome versions you saw in this compilation video. One of the things they changed the most was during the guitar solos, just before they started using the avenger dancers. They had what fans called muscle metal. These two ladies are built. The two of them did a fight scene to go along with the dueling guitars. Yup it's as cool as you're thinking it is. The other one that stands out is once they had Su duel with a masked version of herself. Not sure if anyone every found out who was in the mask. But it was really well done. As the masked version popped out of nowhere. And then seemed to meld back into Su at the end of the guitar solos. Stage theatrics yes. But when done right during a live concert, Fans go crazy for it. Moreover, showing how Babymetal do things their own way. Outside of the box. And I'm here for it. Happy 25th Birthday Su-metal.
Can They Perform This LIVE?! Stupid question. BABYMETAL is built for live performances and crowd interaction. No crowd interaction in Akatsuki or the other three SU-METAL solo songs, though. After this regular version of Akatsuki, you should listen (not react) to the unfinished version. The oldest performance in the video I can identify is from Legend Z (February 1, 2013) at age 15. The most recent performance Dark Night Carnival (October 28, 2018) at age 20.
The 2 guitarist in the these performances are Mikio Fujioka (black / burgandy guitars) and Takayoshi Ohmura (pink guitar). Mikio died at the beginning of 2018 from injuries sustained from an accidental fall. Afterwards Takayoshi will use Mikio's Burgandy guitar at Babymetal shows and his own performances.

I was thinking of it since I didn't hear extra harmonics that Mikio would usually add. Guess the creator didn't either, since he didn't use any of footage with Leda. Some compilation makers don't. Thanks again from Japan 有り難う💛。 The latest clip in this compilation video is one from 2018 (very short one). Last year 2021, on Feb.19, Akatsuki became a very special song for BABYMETAL fans in a different way. This song had not been performed for 2 years and 4 months, but they revived it that day. I witnessed it at Budokan. Honestly I can not remember clearly what I saw and what I heard because it was too surprising and too mesmerizing. (Even after I viewed Blu-ray videos released last year) There is one certain thing, however. I felt celestial bliss there, especially with Su's matured richer voice. Happy birthday Su!

I recommend Rondo of Nightmare Mischiefs of Metal Gods at Budokan Live Intro version. I believe it might be from the Black Night performance here!! It's the performance that made me a Babymetal disciple. Su-Metal was 16 in that legendary performance as Yikes, lol. To be that good even then shows they were destined for greatness. Recommend checking out their latest singles Devine Attack-Shingeki and Monochrome as well. Devine attack recently was selected by Loudersound as among the top metal songs of 2022 in a recent poll. It really shows how far they have come here. New album drops on March 24, 2023. Then joining Sabaton on his tour. Babymetal also has some great collaborations as well. Bring Me The Horizon with Kingslayer is pretty much metal gold. Along with Distortion feat Arch Enemy. Then what has been pretty much an anthem with Road To Resistance. Which was a collaboration with DragonForce!! Then of coarse their Collab with Joakim Broden of Sabaton. I believe Su-Metal may have even performed with Judas Priest at one time lol. I noticed with immense pleasure that many of your reactions are about oriental music, well, I would like to recommend you to listen to a Japanese band, they are all beautifully talented girls, who make fantastic music, rock, funk, pop, they are called GACHARIC SPIN and the song I recommend, among all their incredible production, is " TAMASHII - 魂 " which basically means " SOUL", since you like great music I am convinced that they will galvanize you, thank you for your attention.
You should always watch them live. It is the only way really. With Karate being the one song I would recommend the video of live. Nothing else though. Also if you can avoid them compilations are the devil

However, I think there is enough space for me to fill in a few blanks, let me pick up on a few things from your reaction. First, you said in your reaction that you have been having issues with your Babymetal reactions getting blocked. This is a very common occurrence with Babymetal. There are generally two ways of (often, but not always) getting around this. The first is by using the Babymetal Reactors Resource Channel. This channel pops a big watermark over the version you upload for your viewers, while you get to watch an unmasked version in all its glory. If that sounds interesting, hit Jake Muller up, he knows all about it (I don't). The second way is to react to specially constructed compilation videos where the video editor grabs vision from numerous shows and usually takes the audio from just two, maybe three performances. This is what you watched here. There are several excellent video editors helping Babymetal reactors avoid the block hammer. Today you watched one of the best: Kurokitsunesama. Kuro sama (and all the good editors) will put a list of which performances the video footage and the audio are taken from in the "Show More" section of their video. For example, today's compilation was from: shows featured: LEGEND Z LEGEND 1999 RED MASS RED FOX FESTIVAL MAKUHARI MESSE 2014 MAKUHARI MESSE 2015 LIVE IN LONDON BUDOKAN BLACK NIGHT SSA 2015 WEMBLEY TOKYO DOME BIG FOX FESTIVAL LEGEND S DARK NIGHT CARNIVAL audio: LEGEND S BUDOKAN BLACK NIGHT As you can see, the video was taken from 14 live performances while the audio came from only two. The second point I would like to pick up on is that in your still/teaser/snapshot for this reaction, you ask if Babymetal can do this live. The answer is a comprehensive yes. I will provide two links (not so much for reaction, just for your interest) for this song. They are very different versions of the same song. The first link will give you a brilliant version of a full-live performance in the same style as you just watched. The second, is a stripped back version (with only piano, but there may be some strings in it, down low in the mix). A lot of reactors actually do a second reaction to this version because it is a totally, totally different performance. I have seen it 20 times or more and I still can't watch it without getting chills and tearing up. Anyway, this is why I don't comment much, I babble on. The first version of Akatsuki is from Babymetal's Black Night performance at Budokan in (I think) 2014. Nice reaction. Akatsuki is a great song. They've done lots of variations to the performance of it. From a total balled with just Su and piano, to many of the awesome versions you saw in this compilation video. One of the things they changed the most was during the guitar solos, just before they started using the avenger dancers. They had what fans called muscle metal. These two ladies are built. The two of them did a fight scene to go along with the dueling guitars. Yup it's as cool as you're thinking it is. The other one that stands out is once they had Su duel with a masked version of herself. Not sure if anyone every found out who was in the mask. But it was really well done. As the masked version popped out of nowhere. And then seemed to meld back into Su at the end of the guitar solos. Stage theatrics yes. But when done right during a live concert, Fans go crazy for it. Moreover, showing how Babymetal do things their own way. Outside of the box. And I'm here for it. Happy 25th Birthday Su-metal.

Can They Perform This LIVE?!
Stupid question. BABYMETAL is built for live performances and crowd interaction. No crowd interaction in Akatsuki or the other three SU-METAL solo songs, though.
After this regular version of Akatsuki, you should listen (not react) to the unfinished version.
The oldest performance in the video I can identify is from Legend Z (February 1, 2013) at age 15. The most recent performance Dark Night Carnival (October 28, 2018) at age 20.
The 2 guitarist in the these performances are Mikio Fujioka (black / burgandy guitars) and Takayoshi Ohmura (pink guitar). Mikio died at the beginning of 2018 from injuries sustained from an accidental fall. Afterwards Takayoshi will use Mikio's Burgandy guitar at Babymetal shows and his own performances.
In the image but the sound is from Budokan 2014 so are LEDA and Ohmura that we are hearing

I was thinking of it since I didn't hear extra harmonics that Mikio would usually add. Guess the creator didn't either, since he didn't use any of footage with Leda. Some compilation makers don't. Last year 2021, on Feb.19, Akatsuki became a very special song for BABYMETAL fans in a different way. This song had not been performed for 2 years and 4 months, but they revived it that day. I witnessed it at Budokan. Honestly I can not remember clearly what I saw and what I heard because it was too surprising and too mesmerizing. (Even after I viewed Blu-ray videos released last year) There is one certain thing, however. I felt celestial bliss there, especially with Su's matured richer voice. Happy birthday Su!

I recommend Rondo of Nightmare Mischiefs of Metal Gods at Budokan Live Intro version. I believe it might be from the Black Night performance here!! It's the performance that made me a Babymetal disciple.
Su-Metal was 16 in that legendary performance as Yikes, lol. To be that good even then shows they were destined for greatness. Recommend checking out their latest singles Devine Attack-Shingeki and Monochrome as well.
Devine attack recently was selected by Loudersound as among the top metal songs of 2022 in a recent poll. It really shows how far they have come here. New album drops on March 24, 2023. Then joining Sabaton on his tour.
Babymetal also has some great collaborations as well. Bring Me The Horizon with Kingslayer is pretty much metal gold. Along with Distortion feat Arch Enemy. Then what has been pretty much an anthem with Road To Resistance.

Yeah the videos was compilations, but I'm sure the audio used was from Budokan Black Night. You need to watch the Budokan version or Wembley version that's not compilations.

Hi guys, great reaction. I don't normally comment too much because it is usually all said and done before I get here.
However, I think there is enough space for me to fill in a few blanks, let me pick up on a few things from your reaction.
First, you said in your reaction that you have been having issues with your Babymetal reactions getting blocked. This is a very common occurrence with Babymetal. There are generally two ways of (often, but not always) getting around this. The first is by using the Babymetal Reactors Resource Channel. This channel pops a big watermark over the version you upload for your viewers, while you get to watch an unmasked version in all its glory. If that sounds interesting, hit Jake Muller up, he knows all about it (I don't).
The second way is to react to specially constructed compilation videos where the video editor grabs vision from numerous shows and usually takes the audio from just two, maybe three performances. This is what you watched here. There are several excellent video editors helping Babymetal reactors avoid the block hammer. Today you watched one of the best: Kurokitsunesama. Kuro sama (and all the good editors) will put a list of which performances the video footage and the audio are taken from in the "Show More" section of their video. For example, today's compilation was from:

As you can see, the video was taken from 14 live performances while the audio came from only two. So, the audio was pretty close to a live performance. For me, I prefer the compilations over the watermarked option.
The second point I would like to pick up on is that in your still/teaser/snapshot for this reaction, you ask if Babymetal can do this live. The answer is a comprehensive yes. I will provide two links (not so much for reaction, just for your interest) for this song. They are very different versions of the same song. The first link will give you a brilliant version of a full-live performance in the same style as you just watched. The second, is a stripped back version (with only piano, but there may be some strings in it, down low in the mix). A lot of reactors actually do a second reaction to this version because it is a totally, totally different performance. I have seen it 20 times or more and I still can't watch it without getting chills and tearing up.
Anyway, this is why I don't comment much, I babble on.
The first version of Akatsuki is from Babymetal's Black Night performance at Budokan in (I think) 2014. This is the version similar to what you have already seen, just more cohesive.
