I live on the edge of the Forest of Dean and there are quite a few people who claim to have spotted big cats around here and also some mentions of sightings in the Cotswolds. I haven't seen anything of the like personally, but it isn't unusual to come across deer, wild boar and Forest of Dean lions (sheep) roaming about. I have to admit I've been indulging in big foot videos on RUclips of late. @@TheJollyReiver I am a South African man living in Motherwell, Scotland, UK. I am 44 years old and I have been living in the UK for 20 years now. I moved here in September of 2004. Now I never really believed in cryptids. In fact being brought up as a "rational" person. I was always told to believe that you only believe in a creature's existence when it has been catalogued and it's DNA is on record. In 2004 I moved to the UK and at that time I was living in a town north of Liverpool called Southport. It is in Merseyside in the north western part of England. It is the usual sleepy English seaside town. Several weeks after I had moved there, round about Christmas time, me and a bunch of my friends decided to go visit a forest area in the countryside nearby a town called Formby which is also just north of Liverpool. Now the Christmas time of year is very cold, grey and bleak. So when we arrived at the forest and got out of our cars and walked about a bit in this forest, it looked very eerie, like something out of one of those old Dracula movies or out of a Bram Stoker story. Not long after arriving there began this weird howling noise, it gave me the creeps. My friends told me to not worry about it, it was probably just the wind. But that did not feel right for me. So I looked at the tree tops. And they were not swaying about at all. I pointed this out to them but they told me not to worry about it anyway. Things is I just felt like something was not right. Anyway this weird howling sound continued. And then the sounds started to become like a primal growl. Really deep and guttural like that of a great African ape. I could not believe it. Here I was in frigid England, in the middle of a forest hearing these ape like growls. I started getting twitchy now. I had not seen anything but I was sure this was something animalistic and not some natural element. So in this bunch of friends, there was this fellow South African. I said to him " Hermann (his name is Hermann) does this not sound like apes or monkeys to you. You know like the ones back home in Africa". He listened for a while. Then he said " Yes you are right. That is exactly like the monkeys and apes in Africa would sound like". With an absolute look of bewilderment on his face. Our friends then started to laugh and say that the monkeys had followed us from Africa. And as they were laughing there was was this loud howling bellowing scream which seemed to fill the heavens, the forest, the ground, the trees and our very bodies. Needless to say they stopped there laughter and we all got out of there as quickly as possible. We drove out of that forest pretty much at top speed and spent the rest of the day at the dunes nearby Formby where we new there would be more people and we would feel safer. Well it has been many years since that happened and I landed up moving about until I settled in Motherwell, Scotland, UK. And even though I never saw anything physical that day it must have been something animal or cryptid to have made such a terrible sound. It is a sound I never heard before and I have never heard it since. But if I did hear it again I would instantly recognise it. Since then I have become more open to believing that cryptids or animals or whatever you want to call it may exist but that does not necessarily mean I always believe every story. I have not told many people my story since it happened but when I do I just get the old nod and roll of the eyes like to say "ok crazy". And the thing is that I did not see an animal or cryptid, I just heard sounds. So I can only imagine how much worst the treatment must be if you heard a sound and saw a cryptid. Well feel free to use this story for your show if you want. Names and all. Show less
I’ve had a couple of strange incidents happen in very remote places at night that I couldn’t explain. My friend and I were walking home from a pub well after midnight in pitch dark countryside along a very poorly lit road and on the other side of the road was a cemetery behind some woods. We became aware that something on the other side of the wall, in the woods was walking too, crunching the undergrowth, if we stopped it stopped too, and when we walked it started walking as well. My mate shouted “ Leg it!” and ran off leaving me alone so I had to run too. I’ll expand on the other incident if anyones interested.
Another time I and six friends were wild camping in the forested mountains of north wales, the trees were so dense we had to cut out voids for our two tents. One night all of us were in one tent talking, my legs were outside the tents unzipped doors when something smashed the main horizontal pole of the tent, I drew my legs in ridiculously quickly! Someone whispered that I should go outside and see what it was, yeah, right! We all sat in absolute silence for a full ten minutes, barely breathing until we’d gathered enough courage to investigate. We found nothing but the tent was completely destroyed.
Very interesting. I do a lot of walking in Northumberland but to date still haven't visited Bolam lake. Interestingly, Bolam lake is close to Belsay. In M. Belangers "Dictionary of Demons" there is a Demon named Belsay.
I was on that investigation with Jon Downes. Never for one moment did with think this was a flesh and blood creature like a yeti. It was something paranormal.
The Native American Sasquatch if it is to be believed. These creatures use a cloaking device to move through dimensions and it goes beyond science as we know it. They are not of this Earth
@@TheJollyReiver Did any witness report the typical Bigfoot smell?, was there casts made of those large footprints and if so did they show epidermal ridges or a mid tarsal break?
@@deanfirnatine7814This! This! This!! So much can be learned from Footprints, especially if they're fake! As you mentioned the details of foot structure & skin are very very hard to fake.
In Welsh tradition things can just sometimes just filter through from other places. I met an elderly lady in the Basque in the 90s who had see a creature she called a Basajourn as a teenager. She was describing something very bigfoot like that she said just disappeared in front of her eyes. If she was lying shexwas the best actress I've ever seen.
I saw something similar in the U.K. in the north west a few years back, what strikes me here that I have thought about but dismissed is that when I had an encounter I thought the night was darker than usual, seems strange how I thought that and it is reported here. Cheers for the video.
I lived 20 minutes away from Morpeth for 24 years and never knew there was a lake… what a local I am! Thank you for the great video, they cheer me up when I’m feeling a bit homesick, I’ve always loved strange stories from Northumberland
Supposed to be something similar to Big Foot in Cannock Chase Forest in Staffordshire. Along with an equally mahoosive werewolf, ufo sightings, an unrelated 'pigman' & a black eyed ghostly child. It's a 1000yr old 50 square mile forest. So who knows what resides there hidden from mankind. I rather like the idea that we might possibly have an ancient, unknown, indigenous species of humanoid hiding in plainsight from modern man in and around the UK.
I went to Cannock Chase to go mountain biking with a mate who grew up there. We took our dogs with us, mine was a Belgian shepherd and my mates pup was a Staffordshire bull poofter (I say poofter in jest, he was a very sweet natured dog) The only spooky thing we witnessed was two blokes up to lewd shenanigans in the bushes..... We just had to rip the p!ss out of them, it would have been rude not to
Really enjoyed this video. Very interesting stories. Leaning more toward supernatural than corporeal. On the other hand, the human mind is an amazing place! Thanks for all the work and for taking us to this lovely place!
This is my first visit to this channel at 0535, it looks rather good and I shall look deeper into it. This video was very well done indeed. British society is very old and a big catalogue of folklaw and the like is there to be investigated.
I understand that in the US thinking is now moving towards the idea of 'big foot' being from another dimension or timeframe and arriving and leaving through a portal or time-warp. This occurrence sounds much the same to me - a very interesting and convincing story and a great video.
You are probably correct. Though not sympathetic to the Bigfoot legend, I attended a presentation six months ago from a well-known researcher here in Pennsylvania, who asserted that scenario as most likely.
First of your videos I have seen and I must say, wow, I am absolutely loving the presenting style and the work you have put into this. It takes me back to my childhood watching things like Monster Quest on the TV. Will definitely be sticking around
One of your best ever! We truly love the ones.. like this.. when you walk along the site.. we feel as if we are there too.. Indeed.. this one brought prickles along our spine.. especially when the video showed an artists rendition of what he looked like.. a beautiful prehistoric man.. probably considered quite handsome by his peers.. and there was a sadness in his eyes we noted.. We believe he is.. or once was.. definitely a real being.. who somehow was transported into this time.. and perhaps given the task.. whether he wished to or not.. of guarding this area of fairy mounds.. And.. as was reported.. the tracks were of different sizes.. perhaps his family dwells there with him.. That there have been no recent sittings does not mean he is gone.. rather just discovered ways of keeping hidden better.. in another demention perhaps? Awesome story, sir… and told as only you can.. excellent work indeed.. Earnestly we hope that you will.. as you stated.. continue to venture round about the world.. hunting for more haunting and bizarre stories such as this.. We are grateful indeed his story ended as it did.. so sad that when people encounter something out of their range of understanding.. their first impulse is to destroy it.. without even knowing the purpose for its being there.. Thank you ever so much for this amazing tale…As we have said many times.. you are gifted with the perfect voice for what you do.. it is achingly beautiful to listen to.. and serves you quite well.. as you spin these fascinating tales from beyond reality.. please do continue..🌹🙏 William and Jen 💜💙🌱🌹🙏
Top film. These things are inter dimensional. So many aligning stories of utter silence, huge figures, fleeting glimpses in and out of our reality. Some say they are the first results of the annunaki experimenting with gene splicing to create a humanoid worker race…
A great video from my neck of the woods. I've often googled for any info about the Bolam Bigfoot, so thanks for this. How about doing a video about the Simonside Dwarfs one day?
You never fail to amaze your channel is outstanding, all hale the jolly reiver and long may it continue, what a brilliant episode that just shows even though we are a small island there is still lots that we don't know about that creeps around our wild places, brilliant
I remember this story from the FT and Gail-Nina Anderson’s comments, at the time - quite amusing! Re: forts in the north, might you visit Yeavering Bell? The goats are magnificent and add to the prehistoric aspect of the place. I’d love to visit again, sometime 👍🏻
Johnathan is a nice guy, well spoken and intelligent. Met him in the pub a few times in Exeter and joined their group. The UK bigfoot can only be interdimensional rather than pure flesh and blood. I had 3 experiences with something similar in Buckinghamshire
In North Yorkshire Malton is a place called Slingsby gap nr Castle Howard. I used to take my mountain bike and go on off road trails. That place has a very odd vibe all along the ridgeway and neighbouring valleys/meadows. I always felt watched...one day i saw a gray looking fox/ dog that moved in an odd fashion it moved like a lizard is the best way to explain it across a path infront of me. It was probably 5 to 6ft long and well built but slight. It may have seen me but didnt look at me but once off the path it moved very quickly which is what really scared me as it only lasted seconds. I dont walk or cycle there now and i always wonder what it was i saw. Who knows what is living in the uk that is yet to be categorised or understood
You can't get lot of the closed minded people here to understand. They aren't interested in their own history and island and choose to mock it. Unwisely in my opinion.
Harewood is understandable the place is terrifying, I’m an avid hiker and do a lot of walks solo with my dog and harewood forest had me on ease the whole time, as soon as you hit the tree line the forest is pitch black about 5 meters in meaning anything in there can see you but you can’t see it. What had me shitting myself was my dog constantly being on edge, he’s usually right in the bushes and forest running around but he was constantly stopping with his tail up and looking into the tree line. Absolutely never again😂
Similar to many other sightings from around the world. Possibly a forest guardian/spirit from the spirit realm or a dimension we can't see with human eyes? 💁🏼♂️...who knows!...canny vid though 👌🏻
Enjoyed this so much. Great to see such great footage of the site. I covered the Bolam Lake Bigfoot case on my 'British Bigfoot - Fact or Folly' video I did a few years back. Anyone interested in other UK reports may want to check it out.
Ken Campbell. talented actor and raconteur was always on about the Ape-man of Walthamstow Marshes in his solo shows.. he used to walk his dog across there regularly.... I used to jog in the park the Stamford Hill end... he never made a secret as to his enmity towards joggers, and one late afternoon he rounded a corner and fixed me with his piercing eyes and bristling brows... (Ken, you understand, not the Ape-man...) I've never 'jogged' as fast I can tell you and never went a-joggin' round those parts again...
They are alive and well in the uk , ive had numerous encounters with the forest people/British Bigfoot around winter hill area and its my belief that they use portals either opened by them or they open at certain times of day/night this also would give them the ability to disappear but this is just IMO as ive not yet witnessed this phenomenon but i can assure you they are in the UK and it's an extremely scary when encountering them as not all are welcoming the older ones in there clans dont want humans interacting with them and do their best to scare you away by tree/bush shaking stone throwing and growling to name just a few, but good luck to those that want to interact but be respectful
I was walking in Kielder forest on my own and got this strange feeling l was being watched. I was walking Lands end to John o Groats so l was used to walking on my own but this was really strange. I also heard what l thought was someone chopping wood. Could this be wood knocks? I increased my pace and once out of the forest the feeling left me. Kielder forest is one of the biggest forests in the U.K.
I live in Leicestershire, and we had the Breedon Hill Monster. There was even an obstacle race dedicated to it. In the 80s thee were some clumsily faked pictured of it. I suspect that it was down to the Young Farmers association.
Brilliant vid. Sounds a lot like it could be an extradimensional egregore. Worth researching if you have the time. 'The Hidden Universe' by Anthony Peake is a good place to start.
Never knew about this, sounds similair to the stories of the grey man of Ben Macdui in the Scottish highlands. A lot of similarities to sasquatch reports from north America.
I've investigate at the paranormal for most of my adult life. I've been privileged to work in some of the UK's most haunted places and Northumberland has a special place in my heart as it is steeped in legend... On patreon I made a comment that there are many things I believe can exist put Bigfoot something that could not exist in the UK.. I'm not doubting that these fishermen didn't see anything or maybe after a few beers the basically saw something and the imagination did the rest.. England is only 72 miles at its widest and we have thousands of villagers spread throughout the UK and yes we have a lot of forestry in the UK but nothing that would keep a bigfoot hidden not even in Northumberland... I believe in wild cats panthers etc being able to survive in the UK but Bigfoot.. definitely not guys.. jolly Reiver .. you always do a good job with your videos.. I find them very interesting and full of folklore and tails.. so keep up the good work.. The UK mainland could not support such large creatures as I can go 30 miles in any direction in North Yorkshire without bumping into someone I know😂 so therefore (big foot) could not remain elusive for too long.. Although there are creatures that could be into dimensional put that's getting weird out of hand... I'm a sceptic believer but I have to draw the line at the Geordie Bigfoot. But who knows, I wasn't there that night and I haven't interviewed any witnesses of said phenomena. Thanks buddy it's always a pleasure to watch your work A later edit... One thing I do agree with that I have investigate it many places in Northumberland that are said to be haunted.. and it is very strange that just before something happens nature always alerts you to it no matter whether it's daytime or night-time,nature knows that something is about to happen before you do. So I definitely agree with that claim
This is really cool to see something from my area, this is close to where my friend used to live and i would go out with him there to do some bushcraft or fishing and cook some sausages, was great 😎 We used to go out once a month back then, ive never seen a bigfoot tho haha
I know I haven't made a comment in a while and I apologise for that but I am still subscribed and do watch your videos . I have a question or two have you heard of The Catman of Greenock ? This guy has allegedly been living in the sewers of the Scottish town since the 1970's . If so can you do a video about him .
Ah the Green Man. He is prevalent in Northern European mythology. He is a benevolent kind and gentle force bringing fertility and abundance to the forests, woods and fields, a good influence on the well being of the natural world. He is ever present working hard these days. I often think about and talk with him in my head.
Another flawless video thank you . I have been hearing about the bolam lake beast for several years . Many say it is a jetty like beast. Many it is as you say a paranormal being . I will look more into this .thank you
Hi, My account from 1985 is on Deborah Hatswells feed. The account you described by the researcher Jonathan Downes exactly matches mine! No glowing eyes, just a weird dark shape almost swallowing the light or the space it inhabits.
I covered this story for Fortean Times website in 2003 and went up at the sams time as the CFZ. After tracking down the most (at the time) recent witnesses I found they were all on a message board that pre-dated their sightings and the main guy believed he had a personal connection with the Geordie Bigfoot. Suffice to say I think it was a flight of fancy between a group of like minded ppl. The sightings from the 90s are different though. I would be open to the idea the amount of ancient sites around the lake (standing stones, tumuli, earthworks etc) could be a factor in some way. Either way it is an interesting place to visit.
I love this channel. Watching each video feels like drinking a big mug of hot chocolate. Keep up the excellent work, mate. PS. I only live about 20 minutes from Bolam Lake and have been meaningnto go back for years. I'll definitely have to now. Me and the boys will make a homeschool field trip out of it.
I used to fish Bolam as a kid. Once caught a Pike with a false plastic worm. We were too frightened to remove it so asked another bloke fishing to unhook it for us. Another time we were virtually hyperthermic and close to death I'm sure. Still cycled home. We never saw or heard the 'Geordie Yeti' mind.
Whether they come through port holes or not. One thing for sure is they eat meat fruit etc. They drink water and they breathe Air. They also breed. To me this would suggest that like us if they don't do the activities i have just mentioned they die.
@Jen999 No lass, I meant in general. I'm not dissing Reiver. Music is used in media all the time because it elevates a stagnant monologue. It enhances story telling and mood. You ever seen a show or docu that DOESN'T use music? Na. Because they don't exist.
Oh my gosh Bolam lake is beautiful .........if there is a big foot there I'm sure he/she is beautiful too and minding its own business .......leave the creature alone in peace ❤❤❤❤
There is a monastery nearby to Bolam Lake and it has been well known for years that one of the monks whom is reported to be quite a large man regularly strolls near to the lake sometimes at night. He scared one of my friends whilst my friend was walking his dog quite recently. He may have also taken a vow of silence as he does not seem to speak to anyone but he is not supernatural or menacing, just a guy out for a walk minding his own business really. I believe that is who people have seen and the locals are well aware of him if you ask them.
It makes sense that there would be different species or sub-species ape-like bipeds. In the US in some areas they are reported as much smaller and with a reddish coat. They obviously studied Monty Python's work on "How Not To Be Seen." Very nice video. I subscribed!
I can recall a story about the fisherman and the story of a bhuddist monk doing walking meditation at night after the visitors had left first the day. I can’t find any references on the net to this explanation but I’m pretty sure I haven’t made it up.
Love the video but unless there are much older stories i suspect it's the locals having fun with people. There's not really enough woodland there to hide a large hominid. Even if you didn't see it you'd see signs of him. The Pacific Northwest of North America has hundreds of miles of dense woodlands.
No it's not the locals there are lots of fore lore tales in the north /north east and they are connected to the old religion which never died out .....people are careful not to mock these things.....and it won't be trying to hide....and what has the dense woodlands of America got to do with this video?
@@azillliasmith2734 they liken it to bigfoot, which is usually associated with north america. What I'm saying is there doesn't seem to be any lore prior to the 1990's so it's not like loch ness where there are stories from long ago.
@@GravesRWFiA There is plenty of lore in the UK attached to these. Puck, shuck, the Woodwose and so on. They are carved on pews in churches and of stone on the tops as gargoyles. The list goes on...
@@frogmarch1000 absolutely.and there are places in England famous for their local lore. but I'm talking about this particular site wasn't one of those. and with the lore here showing up at the end of the 20th century that seems to make it suspect. Maybe running like hell, without any noise. They are "superhuman" and they stay afar from us

I am a South African man living in Motherwell, Scotland, UK.

Same I love the folklore and I'm glad they being kept alive
I’ve had a couple of strange incidents happen in very remote places at night that I couldn’t explain. My friend and I were walking home from a pub well after midnight in pitch dark countryside along a very poorly lit road and on the other side of the road was a cemetery behind some woods. We became aware that something on the other side of the wall, in the woods was walking too, crunching the undergrowth, if we stopped it stopped too, and when we walked it started walking as well. My mate shouted “ Leg it!” and ran off leaving me alone so I had to run too. I’ll expand on the other incident if anyones interested.
Do tell
@@whiggles9203 What is your angle, have you seen or heard anything out of the ordinary? Or are you sceptical? Sincerely.
@@jimwhelan4485 I want to hear a scary story, and I’m quite happy to believe in these things.
@@jimwhelan4485 thank you sharing your experience was really interesting hearing about it
Was waiting for the video. I haven't even watched the whole video yet. Make more of these videos. Thank you.
Very interesting. I do a lot of walking in Northumberland but to date still haven't visited Bolam lake. Interestingly, Bolam lake is close to Belsay. In M. Belangers "Dictionary of Demons" there is a Demon named Belsay.
Again another excellent piece. You’ve really got me interested in British folklore and legends
I was on that investigation with Jon Downes. Never for one moment did with think this was a flesh and blood creature like a yeti. It was something paranormal.
That’s very interesting, thanks for sharing mate! Yeh that’s the conclusion I came to at the end, seemed more likely!
A cryptid/piece of folklore I've never heard of before? And British? Nice

Maybe it's protecting us....if the sighting are become more frequent perhaps some magic is stirring .....especially as things are at the moment ....
We do, they're called Geordies.

I went to Cannock Chase to go mountain biking with a mate who grew up there. We took our dogs with us, mine was a Belgian shepherd and my mates pup was a Staffordshire bull poofter (I say poofter in jest, he was a very sweet natured dog)
The only spooky thing we witnessed was two blokes up to lewd shenanigans in the bushes.....

That's because it's been made up for tourism, it's believable in the huge country of USA, but the British Bigfoot sounds silly.
Interesting video!
Great to see you making videos like this.
Glad you enjoyed!
I love your stories/narration & visuals are lovely too.

That's very much still a minority point of view and 90% of reports do not involve anything paranormal.
You are probably correct. Though not sympathetic to the Bigfoot legend, I attended a presentation six months ago from a well-known researcher here in Pennsylvania, who asserted that scenario as most likely.
We have lots of ley lines in Britain especially on the isle of Wight they are gate ways to portals 🇬🇧

Thank you ever so much for this amazing tale…As we have said many times.. you are gifted with the perfect voice for what you do.. it is achingly beautiful to listen to.. and serves you quite well.. as you spin these fascinating tales from beyond reality.. please do continue..🌹🙏

Thanks that's really interesting.....love to know if anyone else has experienced something similar....keep exploring but stay safe ❤ 😊🚲
I should add that this sighting was broad daylight and my eldest daughter has experienced these weird vibes on bike rides too
Very interesting video.Ive never heard of this one before.👍
Recognition of a Bigfoot figure goes back to the beginings of English history i.e. 1,500 years ago. The creature was called the Wuduwosa.
You can't get lot of the closed minded people here to understand. They aren't interested in their own history and island and choose to mock it. Unwisely in my opinion.
Been to bolam so many times and never new about this there’s meant to be a beast that lives in harewood forest not far from bolam lake.
Yes this is what I think it is......
I once saw back in 2009 a big hairy creature thing eat a Cornish pasty in the woods near a lake.
That was the Ghost of Jethro 😅
My dad used to take us, but before bigfoot arrived.
(To note, my dad isn't 8ft tall or have glowing red eyes.)
I might have to camp here and investigate further 👽
I really love these videos. They are so cosy

Looks like a lovely spot.
They absolutely are and the prime reason they do so well is that most people are not even aware of them, let alone actively looking for them. 🎉
Great stuff! Many thanks :)
Glad you enjoyed!
I was walking in Kielder forest on my own and got this strange feeling l was being watched.
I was walking Lands end to John o Groats so l was used to walking on my own but this was really strange.

Could this be wood knocks?
I increased my pace and once out of the forest the feeling left me.

Don’t worry. You have 0% chance of getting killed by a Bigfoot. Now, humans on the other hand…
I live in Leicestershire, and we had the Breedon Hill Monster. There was even an obstacle race dedicated to it. In the 80s thee were some clumsily faked pictured of it. I suspect that it was down to the Young Farmers association.

The big grey man of ben Macdui is a weather phenomenon, like the Brocken spectre
Thanks buddy it's always a pleasure to watch your work
A later edit... One thing I do agree with that I have investigate it many places in Northumberland that are said to be haunted.. and it is very strange that just before something happens nature always alerts you to it no matter whether it's daytime or night-time,nature knows that something is about to happen before you do. So I definitely agree with that claim

He is a benevolent kind and gentle force bringing fertility and abundance to the forests, woods and fields, a good influence on the well being of the natural world. He is ever present working hard these days. I often think about and talk with him in my head.

Hi,
My account from 1985 is on Deborah Hatswells feed. The account you described by the researcher Jonathan Downes exactly matches mine!
No glowing eyes, just a weird dark shape almost swallowing the light or the space it inhabits.
I heard it at Bollam lake at around 2015.
You may have heard something. Definitely didn't hear a British Bigfoot
Storey time with the jolly revier ❤❤❤

Camera traps mounted on the trees around there will eventually

The funny noises was probably me tripping bollox in the woods again.
