Totally overwhelmed by all the incredibly kind and supportive comments here. I see that a lot of people can relate, and I'm glad there's a valuable lesson here: breaks are healthy and sometimes necessary. I’m personally glad you feel comfortable taking a break. You deserve one and just because we are over a month into the new year doesn’t mean this year can’t be a super great one! :) take you’re time, we will all be here patiently waiting! Also super happy you don’t have to commute anymore!

It's not inspiration when you copy someone's work. Daniel is great, he's awesome actually, but I really hope other videographers would start developing their own style, instead of copying his.

Awesome update! That's really interesting re the "capture the creative while it's fleeting". I hadn't thought about that before, but it's 1000% true. Good for you for recognizing it, and also taking time out to recharge. Look forward to seeing what the basement studio ends up like. My 2023 goal is to simply make more fun content. All the stuff I've done previously is either personal or for corp, and in both cases, not very shareable. But the desire is to reach the next level for me this year!

Congrats on the break… sometimes it is EXACTLY what we need and I commend you for the wisdom to take one. Also, bringing two of the things I had to travel for (Studio space and Gym) into the home when we moved was one of the best moves I ever made. It has completely changed my productivity in both areas. Looking forward to seeing what you new with your new space and some fresh (and well-rested) perspective!

Congrats on the new place and studio setup! Can completely relate to the traffic of Toronto, it just sucks the life out of you. We bought a place in Hamilton in 2020 and it's been a complete game changer for our mental health and productivity.

Welcome back! Excited to see new content. My 2023 plans are to finally pursue my filmmaking career. I've been working silently for the past year putting various projects together and will be finally putting content out and building up a presence this year. It's scary but I can't wait!

Love to hear you took the break you needed mate, as cool as content creation is for work, it is still a job and can cause stress. You still need to take the same breaks you would if you were at a 9-5. A few weeks off a year, ya know. Stoked for more content though, and the studio looks wicked!
My goals for this year are to stop being so tired and depressed and put out more videos than the two I managed to post before feeling like garbage. Will always turn to your channel for inspiration. Hope you have a great 2023 fam!

Hi Daniel. I want to say thank you for making these video. I've always wanted to start my own business. And I ended up spending a lot money on courses and coaches. In the end they didn't give me any form of value and just took my money. I discovered your videos and decided to buy a camera. The fact that you have created this many videos, and made them available for everyone is just amazing. I enjoy making product videos, and I even bought Austen Paul's product video course (One of the few courses that actually is giving me value). My goal for 2023 is create a sustainable business using my camera. Good luck with your project, I'm cheering you on from the sidelines.

great to hear from you! coming to terms with realizing what once was your dream that you turned into a reality no longer feels like something you want in your life might’ve felt weird, but above all i’d like to share that seeing working in the city as something you no longer want in your day to day life and jumping on changing that fast is quite admirable. i gotta work on that. as we progress through this year, i’ll always be excited to see what you have to share with us. For me, I don’t have any plans currently. I think my main goal is to stick to my academics, and put a lot of extra effort into the classes I’ll be taking (and retaking.) But I won’t ever shun my creative side, especially now as I’ve recently really enjoyed photoshop and illustrator. No plans, but I do have the goal of getting into generative art this year. I’ve looked into it a little bit, and have followed some great artists. I think this year I’ll want to continue my dive into different art mediums, like I have from photography to (now) graphic design. I’ve thought recently of creating an app, and editing all of my old videos has always been in the back of my head. Creating content is something I’m really passionate about, but when it gets to the editing I just shut down completely. That’s all from me. Excited for you! And for this year!

This is actually quite relatable, as I've been off youtube for quite a long time. Currently gutted and am fixing up a bedroom of my house as my dedicated space, and still have some more tasks to complete, but really looking forward to it.
