Beautiful bike! I was good friends with the family who owned ATK. I used to hang out in their shop in the late 80's as a kid.
How come this bike were never in the public eye. I've never even seen one.
@@travisdelung3565 Great question. I am not sure? I was only 13ish at the time.
@@travisdelung3565I don't think they ever focused on blowing up the brand, it looks like they're moreso focused on racing and making a decent bike. There's an interview that lays alot of it out.
I had a Can Am MX6 with the 400, such a great motor in its day. Engine is made in Austria
Very cool bike! I got beat by one of these bikes at the Ohio State Fair Race, back in the early 90’s, on my KX500. First time I’d ever even seen an ATK, and all I saw the entire race was his back fender and the roost just hammering my chest protector! 😂
I’ve probably seen you race then, I pitted for a few buddies over the years. There Honda Hills back in the day, COCR etc the old D-11
#78 on an ‘88 KX500
@@lockviewacres I’ll hav to go through my pics see if I can still recognize anybody
I have a 94 and it’s on of my favorites! Beautiful job on the graphics! Polishing all the aluminum adds a nice touch too!
Glad you like it!
Music to my ears sound so crisp incredible bombarded roots with this bike somRotax engine
its sound is unique, sounds tough with lots of power.
That is one beautiful dirtbike. Christie did an amazing job on the graphics as always. Seems like they were custom dirtbikes, with the best of parts, right out of the crate. I love the job that Christie did on the seat. That is one gorgeous seat.
What a beautiful dirt bike. 1995ATK Patriot Old faithful. You can't kill it. Very very rare. I've only seen a couple on tv what a treat! Amazing sir. Chrissy, Carlos and Ronnie did a beautiful job on it in the Kaplan team. New England motorcycle museum number one 1995ATK Patriot Old faithful 🤘🇺🇲
What a freaking bike. You are THE MAN m r Kaplan. Love the videos and the bikes, one day I'll come see the museum!
That thing is sweet, must be a blast in the woods
No doubt, she’s a pretty ol big girl. That would hang with the new bikes with the right rider.
Love the graphics and seat! I always thought these were so cool. I have never got to ride one.
We are planning to head down to see you guys soon keep up the amazing videos
I have owned 3 different ATK bike. A 250, the 406 and the 605. The 406 was my favorite. I raced it in Vintage MX and did pretty good on it.
kit number 84 wow i had to replay that part as i'd just like 2 seconds before gave this vid the 84th thumbs up.
commented on first vid with this bike yesterday and wasnt going to with this vid until 84 number was exactly the same: interesting haha
so, will now type same thing i did on your first vid for this one.
that's an excellent bike.
I had a 2000 ATK 605 I raced in the desert and loved that bike. Still regret selling it to this day.
Wow I know just about every bike sold but never knew about this brand .
Nice job you guys did! Beautiful graphics!
Awesome bike! I was seriously considering buying one in the late 1980's. I was riding a modified 88 YZ 490 at the time. I sold my KX 500 cause I preferred the 490. That's saying a lot cause my KX 500 was Awesome! I prefer the simplicity of the air cooled engine, and I believe there is not much advantage of liquid cooling for a 500 engine under most conditions. My YZ 490 cost $3000 new in 88. A brand new KX 500 or CR 500 cost $4000 new in 88. I took the $1000 that I saved by buying the 490 and fixed all the issues it had. After the modifications it was as fast as any KX 500 or CR 500.
That is sick super super cool and badass and Christy Stiger, she is the greatest she has made so many one-offs that just makes sense she's amazing I absolutely love her work💪🏻💪🏻💚👍🏻👍🏻🌎🤟🏻🤟🏻🇺🇲✌🏼
Amazing piece of American motorcycling history there.
Just listen to that puppy! Tingling to get set free!
it dose soundreal good and it sounds tough with lots of power.
Always wanted one, but never had the chance to get one love that bike
Kaplan you're the boss I hope too come see you one day man and I'm so freaking stoked on every video you put up. Congrats too yours fine team. Brian Triplett from Virginia
Mmmmmmm.. Rotax power. Nice bike Ken!
Your so natural at driving the motorcycles very nice to watch your skills.
Thank you very much!
These are closely related to the 80s and 90s KTMs, Husaberg and Husqvarnas. Also some Maico in the mix too later on :)
My nephew bought an ATK 260 in it's crate from the local Harley dealer for $2500. 20 years ago.
I remember being so excited when these came out. A buddy bought one and i was a little jelly until i rode it. If they would have just said it was a big engine at a low state of tune to last for more miles maby they would have sold better. They just trashed the atk name when they claimed it to compete with real open class japanese bikes.
How are we doing on the Kaplan America Action figure ? You could make a CR 500 Action bike . (Think ) Evel Knievel toy from the 70's . With a modern set up tho then you could also make a old school chopper with trouble head motor, a 1972 Kawasaki 750 two stroke triple, You could do the camper set up with a trailer . I think the time has finally come brother .
🇺🇸
Nice , don't see many ATK 👍
I have a 250 lq, 406 air cool and a 260 air cooled. My dad was a dealer in MI
Super!
Will you be open the day after Thanksgiving for a museum visit and dealership
What year had the counter shaft rear brake?
The last year for that was 1993 . After ATK changed ownership in 94 they went to a conventional design . 1996 was the last model year for the air cooled 250/406 2 strokes . I've owned a couple of the liquid cooled 250 2 strokes . They are cool unique bikes .
Awesome bike.
Wow. It has a honda sound to it for sure.
Om 🎉grande saund 🎉
Sweet
Bad fuckin ass man air cooled monster
ken make it street legal have you ever had a atk 620? early 2000s always fancied one of those
Those have an interesting engine, a rotory intake valve. Since it has a valve on the intake makes it easy to put a turbo on it.
We need a holeeey
Very nice lookin bike, my last enduro race i raced, Dirt Rider Magazine was there, also their was a Pro from Sweden riding a 604 ATK , he got lost & went like 10 miles out of his way, and still won the over all ...
Killer bike
about as good as it gets, i agree nice those are the best
Nice
That’s why ya gotta have a bunch of bikes, so you can switch out from bike to bike and keep the miles low on all of them.
Horst Leitner
It looks the part, I wonder how it would stack up performance-wise in its intended environment without regard to the (lack of) feasibility of actually racing and maintaining it on a privateer racing level.
Sr. could make the biggest POS look like a World-Winning motorbike so this video doesn't provide any of that scientific information
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🤯🤯🤯🤯😍😍😍😍😍😍 GOD BLESS THIS NATION, BE GOOD EVERYONE
