This video is dedicated to my friend, Cliff Simon, who taught me to relish in the joy and importance of everyday life. Rest in peace, Cliff. You are so missed. ♥️ Jennifer
I am so sorry for your loss. Is it the same Cliff Simon who passed while kiteboarding this year? I am greatly saddened. He was a gifted actor and seemed like a lovely person.
I've said it once, I'll say it again: I'm glad I have a house to clean. I think of those who don't who wish and pray for a house, apt., etc. to clean. Thank you Jennifer.
I wish that more of RUclips was like this: teaching us to find the joy in now, beautiful scenery, gentle and classy words that also incorporate ancient literature (myths). So many are focusing on how to get more more MORE! We can be joyful now!
I am thankful that I have a lovely, comfortable home in which to live with my family. I find great happiness in keeping my home clean and cozy. I loved my career, but homemaking is my true and fulfilling joy.

Dear Jennifer; to “focus on the result of cleaning” and on “ the sounds of cleaning” might be also a good meditation and a rest to our brain by being present to the moment. Many doctors recommend it to keep us mentally healthy. Thank you for bringing so good ideas for our daily basis duties.🌹
I read a book called “Why We Drive” by Matthew Crawford about how doing small tasks by hand such as washing dishes, actually keeps the brain going and more efficiently and effectively. His wife worked on an experiment where mice were taught to drive tiny cars and while at first they were very anxious, once they mastered the task they found it very relaxing and satisfying as measured by neurotransmitter levels (dopamine etc). We are creatures who need repetitive tasks to thrive. I call that book a dishwashing manifesto. Sometimes I wash everything by hand just because.
I so agree with this attitude towards life! My mother acted like a martyr around the house, never happy ,always complaining even though she had domestic help. She took no joy in the everyday life or appreciated the beautiful home she had. Once I was married, she came to visit. I set out a tea service with linen napkins just on an ordinary Monday morning she scoffed and said that's so much more work than what you need to put into it. I replied that's how we have tea or coffee,to sit and enjoy it as part of our day, we made time for it. She never understood why I took pleasure and time to the running of my husband's and my home, and accused me of spoiling my husband and daughter ,that I was running our home like a five-star hotel. It's sad to think now that's she gone, she never found pleasure or joy in life, no matter how big and grand or simple and plain. I learned from my mother to do just the opposite 💐💕
@@blairwillis9199 thank you Blair for your kind words. We all learn both good and bad from those you come into our lives. l decided when l was a very young girl to remember the good and forget the bad, and live a happy, loving life.🌷
I am so glad I watched this today. It is amazing how the mundane can if we allow it to, takes the focus away from the blessings these tasks bring. I am grateful and honored to be able to care for my family. My home is my sanctuary because it's an expression of our love story...
I was just telling my husband yesterday that I enjoy doing laundry and things like dishes because you start with a pile of mess and end up with nice smelling, tidy end results. I find it very satisfying.
I've loved all of your videos, but this one really struck a chord deep in my heart. Thank you and bless you for sharing this sweet, thoughtful video. You enhanced my day with it, dear Jennifer! I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your friend, Mr. Simon. I am sure he would have been so pleased at having this particularly lovely video dedicated to him. I have been trying to discover what is "next" now that I'm retired and this video reminded me that I can find joy in the "now" and just let the Lord unfold the blossom of my future, petal by petal, as He sees best.
I made myself a cup of oolong while watching your video. Monday is a busy laundry 🧺 day for me. I wash our sheets, sort dirty clothes and rest of the process. I just take it slow and try to be mindful when I’m working. I have finished the darks and the lights are in the dryer. Lingerie is the last thing. Now my laundry room is back in order! A great feeling. Does anybody else like freshly ironed pillowcases? That is a very relaxing job and the pillows look so nice. Thanks 🙏 Jennifer for another great video!
I do the majority of my cleaning on Saturday morning while the kids are still asleep. I listen to my favorite RUclipsr videos from the week with my earbuds. This makes it my quiet, enjoyable time. And what better way to start the weekend than with a clean house and getting many tasks accomplished.
After ruining numerous good shirts with bleach or getting scuffed or snagged even with an apron, I have decided to wear older clothes or those stained ones for cleaning. I’m so much happier now! I do all heavy cleaning before I shower and dress. Washing and tidying can happen in my nicer clothes. Works so well for me. A lovely video though.

Homemaking is important to me and I don’t feel it is less important being just my husband and I.
I'm so sorry for the loss of your friend, Cliff. The picture at the end was endearing. I've found, surprisingly, that I'm more productive when I slow down and take breaks and "me time." I wouldn't have believed it if you told me, just from recent experience. I've even had to take days where I don't do much and have to be in bed because of not feeling well, and then the next day I'll get a ton done. It's so weird.
Me too, Victoria. That's one of the best lessons of minimalism, and keeping a tidy and clean home. If you don't feel up to doing much, a quick tidy as you walk through the house frees you up to rest when you need to.
Keeping house has always been a secret pleasure of mine. People, other women especially, would often get angry with me when I would talk about enjoying house work or looking forward to seasonal cleaning. Finding this channel, watching the videos, and reading the lovely comments, of like minded people has empowered me to proudly claim that I happily keep house and has helped me to come out of the "Cleaning Closet".
“God is calling you to serve Him in and from the ordinary, material and secular activities of human life. He waits for us every day, in the laboratory, in the operating theatre, in the army barracks, in the university chair, in the factory, in the workshop, in the fields, in the home and in all the immense panorama of work. Understand this well: there is something holy, something divine, hidden in the most ordinary situations, and it is up to each one of you to discover it.” St Josemaria Escriva. This video was so beautiful. What a testament homemaking can be to a mediative and contemplative life.
I absolutely love homemaking. It is my happy place. It is so nice to share in the beauty of homemaking with so many lovely women. Thank you for sharing this video.
I really admire the approach you take on house chores!!! I hate them, I do have help on a daily basis, but due to the pandemic, I had to do everything myself for a while. I must say I appreciate so much more the work these women do in my home, it is invaluable for me. Love the way you prepare tea and read a book, specially an Agatha Christie one, I have read every single book she wrote, a great aunt introduce me to that world when I was a child, and no only I like the books; it is a connection to her even though she is no longer with us in this plane.
Sorry for this comment, but, I love wearing nice workout clothes around the house when I clean because it makes me feel energetic & happy. It always makes me feel good & I can easily take a walk on the bike path in the middle of the day w/o changing. I just change clothes if I have to leave to go to an appointment. I need the bounce in my step or I'll feel draggy.
Thank you for sharing another way of looking at these repetitive chores. I love keeping my home clean but sometimes the repetitive and mundane tasks do wipe me down. Your video is a great inspiration.
My favorite channel; always encouraging, beautiful, cheerful, and inspiring. One of my favorite books in the Bible is Ecclesiastes, a book of wisdom written by Solomon later in his life. The book may seem pessimistic at first of life's repetition and vanities, but he comes to this realization: "Everyone also to whom God has given wealth and possessions and power to enjoy them, and to accept his lot and rejoice in his toil-this is the gift of God. For he will not much remember the days of his life because God keeps him occupied with joy in his heart." Ecclesiastes 5:19-20
If you have the inclination, I would love to see a video with your family discussing the benefits they get from all of your work. To be reminded how homemaking matters to others would be a wonderful motivation.
Normally I listen to something every time I clean. After watching this, I shut everything off and listened to the sound of cleaning and my youngest son. It was so grounding. Your content has helped me remember that homemaking is a privilege and appreciate serving my family. Thank you.
Thank you so much for this inspiration and motivation as I dive into what is certain to be a difficult week. I will probably watch this over again several times in the moments when dread starts to creep in.
Hi Jennifer!, I'm "only" seventeen ( I reckon most of your viewers are a bit older than me), but I just want to say that you really inspire me. Many people say that I am quite mature-minded for my age so maybe that's why I can relate more😄. Anyways, I just received your book - becoming a connoisseur of daily life, so excited to continue reading it! Lots of love from Sweden!
I love this series! I have to say that I don’t mind my life of cleaning clothes. You inspire me to be a better me, but when I’m home I really just love pj days and cleaning clothes… to each their own I guess! 😊 -Lindsay
Love this...thank you Jennifer...making tea; I loved....reading made me think of my mother in law...not really a homemaker, but she'd read each morning upon rising, often Agatha Christy books...you're beautiful today, inspirational...house work; mundane...result, a gift to, drop-in guests, husband, family, and yourself! So worth it!...its an Art to me, which makes me an "artist"
I have all your books and enjoy. reading them! Even though my family is raised and I am a widow, I still have the day to day household chores to do! Love watching your video’s.
I have always enjoyed homemaking: as a contrast from my busy job(s), I enjoy seeing my beautiful home/lifestyle and lastly because I vowed to not live in a home like the one I grew up in. I call it pride.
Beautiful contemplative video! There is comfort to be found in routine. When life gets hard, it is nice to be able to fall into the routine of homemaking.
Dear Jennifer, thank you for yet another lovely homemaking video. Your reminder to focus on the result of the cleaning process was very much needed today. Have a blessed week.
Wow. I actually have Sensory Processing Disorder so I cringe when I hear the dishes clinging and such; but I feel like if I think about the sounds and just expect them in-the-moment it could help! Usually I try to ignore it or turn on music but sometimes I don't want music. Also the reminder to focus on how nice it will feel in the end...wonderful!
Beautiful thoughts to ponder. We are not supposed to wear sack cloth and ashes we were created to be feminine even if we never leave our homes. I love being a homemaker. 🏡♥️
Wow, stunning video with a great message. I am a relatively new SAHM/homemaker. My son was born on July 27 so we are just getting into the routine of cleaning and keeping house with a baby. Thanks for the boost!!
Thankyou for videos like this. As a new mother, your positivity and reasonable understanding of homemaking has given me much hope on my own journey with homemaking.
Thank you for reminding me to be not only content in my homemaking, but to see the true joy that can be found in it...I am TRULY BLESSED to have family, home, energy, physical ability to tackle some of my homemaking task....and the comfort and peace that can be found in it....also loved."having tea" with you...you have inspired me awhile back,to truly appreciate tea time in the afternoons
When i was younger I never ceased to be chocked that what I had cleaned needed cleaning again. My mind had, for some reason, put domestic work into the 'do-it-once' category
I work hard to have a clean, tidy and comfortable home. I use the time I spend cleaning to listen to music or podcasts and to learn something I’m interested in. It helps to pass the time and make mundane tasks more enjoyable. Having a cleaning schedule and doing little 5 minute cleans help too. I try to do a bigger task ( today it’s decluttering my linen closets) once every week or two. Making the beds every day and getting dressed and doing my hair and makeup definitely makes me feel more productive too
I'm sorry for the loss of your friend. May God bless you with nothing but fond memories to carry in your heart until you two can someday meet again. 🙏❤🙏
Love your videos…..by watching you, I have learned to love my home again, along with its cleaning tasks, and yes, I now have a tea break…..thank you for the inspiration….❤️❤️❤️

I am a homemaker a mother of 5 beautiful children and a wife. This is such a beautiful video, Thank you God bless ❤️
What a beautiful video and what a nice reminder to take time for ourselves. I’m currently enjoying “At Home with Madame Chic”.
I've been saving my best stuff for a special occasion. Its never come. You were so right. I want to change.
Love your tea set.
This is so encouraging for the homemaker.
Thank you
“God is calling you to serve Him in and from the ordinary, material and secular activities of human life.
Cleaning in a beautiful white blouse and only a half apron? You are a brave woman indeed. 😁
Hi there? Hope you're good & staying safe?
Dear Jennifer, I just watched your new video, folding dry clothes ;) Greetings across the Miles from Berlin, Germany 👩👋🌹
Jennifer, your videos are so special!
I absolutely love homemaking. It is my happy place. It is so nice to share in the beauty of homemaking with so many lovely women. Thank you for sharing this video.
I really admire the approach you take on house chores!!! I hate them, I do have help on a daily basis, but due to the pandemic, I had to
do everything myself for a while. I must say I appreciate so much more the work these women do in my home, it is invaluable for me.
Love the way you prepare tea and read a book, specially an Agatha Christie one, I have read every single book she wrote, a great aunt
introduce me to that world when I was a child, and no only I like the books; it is a connection to her even though she is no longer with us in this plane.
Hi there? Hope you're good & staying safe?
Sorry for this comment, but, I love wearing nice workout clothes around the house when I clean because it makes me feel energetic & happy. It always makes me feel good & I can easily take a walk on the bike path in the middle of the day w/o changing. I just change clothes if I have to leave to go to an appointment. I need the bounce in my step or I'll feel draggy.
Sorry for your loss. Thank you for this lovely video, very inspiring. And what a gorgeous tea set, beautiful.
I thought my boys were messy but my grands are way messier!!! But, oh how I love that I get to see them most everyday!! ❤️🥰
i there? Hope you're good & staying safe??
Jennifer your hair is so charming! I wish you'd do a week of hairstyles. The milkmaid braids and this bun especially. So adorable. Love it!
Seeing my house nice and clean is such a reward, that I enjoy the process because i know I’ll enjoy the end result.
I find being mindful, no matter what the task, is enjoyable.
The book may seem pessimistic at first of life's repetition and vanities, but he comes to this realization:
"Everyone also to whom God has given wealth and possessions and power to enjoy them, and to accept his lot and rejoice in his toil-this is the gift of God. For he will not much remember the days of his life because God keeps him occupied with joy in his heart." Ecclesiastes 5:19-20
If you have the inclination, I would love to see a video with your family discussing the benefits they get from all of your work. To be reminded how homemaking matters to others would be a wonderful motivation.
this hit me on a personal level. Thank you. I needed this video so much and didn't even know it
I like how your kitchen curtains are tied.
What a beautiful tea set. ♥️
Normally I listen to something every time I clean. After watching this, I shut everything off and listened to the sound of cleaning and my youngest son. It was so grounding.
Your content has helped me remember that homemaking is a privilege and appreciate serving my family.
Thank you.
Beautiful video, thank you.
My condolences to you. 💐
Such a wonderful calming video. Its very therapeutic but practical too.
Anyways,
I just received your book - becoming a connoisseur of daily life, so excited to continue reading it! Lots of love from Sweden!
Thank you! Wonderful ♥️
Sorry for the loss of your dear friend Cliff Simon.
This is wonderful, and a true inspiration. Thank you.
More like these please!!! Haha I feel like the guy with the rock. 😂
Me too :)
I love this series! I have to say that I don’t mind my life of cleaning clothes. You inspire me to be a better me, but when I’m home I really just love pj days and cleaning clothes… to each their own I guess! 😊

Sorry for the loss of your friend! 🤍🙏🏻
You are always inspiring.
I have all your books and enjoy. reading them! Even though my family is raised and I am a widow, I still have the day to day household chores to do! Love watching your video’s.
Hi there? Hope you're good & staying safe?
I have always enjoyed homemaking: as a contrast from my busy job(s), I enjoy seeing my beautiful home/lifestyle and lastly because I vowed to not live in a home like the one I grew up in. I call it pride.
Beautiful contemplative video! There is comfort to be found in routine. When life gets hard, it is nice to be able to fall into the routine of homemaking.
Hi there? Hope you're good & staying safe?
Cleaning my home is meditation for me. What a wonderful video idea to share. Thank you!
I love Agatha Christie too! This was a wonderful, inspiring video.
Beautiful thoughts to ponder. We are not supposed to wear sack cloth and ashes we were created to be feminine even if we never leave our homes. I love being a homemaker. 🏡♥️
Probably this is good advice to ward off depression.
Excellent video... very calming and inspiring...
i there? Hope you're good & staying safe??
Wow, stunning video with a great message. I am a relatively new SAHM/homemaker. My son was born on July 27 so we are just getting into the routine of cleaning and keeping house with a baby. Thanks for the boost!!
i there? Hope you're good & staying safe??
Thankyou for videos like this. As a new mother, your positivity and reasonable understanding of homemaking has given me much hope on my own journey with homemaking.
Thank you for reminding me to be not only content in my homemaking, but to see the true joy that can be found in it...I am TRULY BLESSED to have family, home, energy, physical ability to tackle some of my homemaking task....and the comfort and peace that can be found in it....also loved."having tea" with you...you have inspired me awhile back,to truly appreciate tea time in the afternoons
I enjoy housework because I listen to interesting audiobooks while doing it.
Making the beds every day and getting dressed and doing my hair and makeup definitely makes me feel more productive too
i there? Hope you're good & staying safe??
Oh Jennifer, beautiful from beginning to end. My sincerest condolences for the loss of your dear friend.
I'm sorry for the loss of your friend. May God bless you with nothing but fond memories to carry in your heart until you two can someday meet again. 🙏❤🙏
Have that special occasion every day. ❤️
So calming..thanks for the wisdom
I love the black and white outfit. Looks so comfortable.
Love your videos…..by watching you, I have learned to love my home again, along with its cleaning tasks, and yes, I now have a tea break…..thank you for the inspiration….❤️❤️❤️
Loved this homemaking video, they are always my favorites ❤ Thank you Jennifer ❤
