This is the most frequently found disease in delta lands like Tanjavur, also known as the Tanjavur Milt. Flood irrigation is the main problem that can be attributed to this disease. Since delta soil has the high capacity to store water, the irrigation water frequently stalls around the coconut trees. As a symptom,
a liquid starts oozing out of the tree bottom and the crown will start to collapse. Farmers say that the trees that lived up to 90 years, now dies in their mere 30's due to this disease.
As a precaution, whenever this disease is observed, make a mark above the approaching of the infection, this will let us know if the black spots are rising upwards or not. Growth of Ganoderma mushrooms are noted a symptom of this disease.
Changing the methods from Flood irrigation to Drip irrigation will reduce drastically the chance for this disease. For better cure, paint the top to bottom infected region using Bordeaux mixture and also inject Hexaconazole through the root of the tree. Spray the Bordeaux mixture in a radius of 4 feet around the tree. This procedure should be done three times every 45 days.
Another method is to grow Sunnhemp plants, as it has the ability to capture atmospheric nitrogen. These plants can be grown within a 4 feet radius around the tree. You should uproot them, before they start to flower. And later bury them under the soil, which will not only serve as a fertilizer, but will also prevent the disease from occurring. Ensure that you must be uprooting the Ganoderma mushrooms from below the trees and make efforts to burn
them away from the farm.

red palm weevil also have same symptoms and one of the precautions you told that also for this insect.. but u told this is type of fungus.. my field is in Dharmapuri dt,. I also have this symptoms in the bottom of the tree and rice field is near by the tree. The tree is not good ,it's not have coconuts for a year .. Can u differentiate the fungus and that insect symptoms .And help me how to cure that...
