His voice for Merton reminded me of Delvin from skyrim's thieves guild

Mange Tout has changed his profile picture. Understandable, I suppose. He wouldn't want the scammers knowing what he actually looks like. Better for them to think he's a giant, sentient letter M.

Gotta love the consistency with these characters. Merton establishes early on that Manuel is an idiot, and from that point on just about every Manuel email begins with “I don’t really understand” (or some variation)

However, based on your reply to this test I am not confident you are not a scam and would like to continue with the transaction"

Still someone who tried to scam, so I'd say more like a neck boss, just under the head boss.
His cover for accidentally using the name "John" was actually pretty good. I bet he was really proud of himself.
It might not be an accident
Saying John when refering to anyone in general is an idiom that used to be more popular "I don't want some John sending me scam emails"
@@nathanhough8156 the scammer said “John”, referring to John Warosa. He forgot that Manuel doesn’t know John. He used the “John as an idiom” thing as the cover.

I'm making a note here
Huge success.
this scammer is so dedicated, (relatively) well spoken and seemingly intelligent im starting to doubt its even a scam. you missed out on the opportunity of a lifetime!
I had that same feeling as well. It felt real just for a moment, because of the level of English being spoken by the scammer. Needed to snap myself out of it a couple times there
maybe he just went on to scam himself. all the emails and lockdown made him go mental. or its just more people went on to become scammers due to lost income during those times
im honestly just confused what this scammers background was, to know so many idiomatic phrases and still switch out basic spellings entirely, i've read a lot of non-native english but this one was unique
He even spelled naive with the double dot over the i. I can't even do that!
The "John" response really surprised me, since it's true that using John to name people you don't know the name of is used in certain situations. Even if this was done to fix an error and is wrong, he showed that he's quick on his feet.
i like it how whenever the scammer asks for your personal information you always say "the kind of information you should never share with strangers on the internet," you always make sure to make your videos entertaining AND informative
I have to say, I think Merton is hands-down my favorite among your personas. I just love the gritty no-nonsense former veteran Noir Detective personality you came up with for him.

You could try pretending you‘re a young child responding to the email and answer with things as „I should ask my mom for permission first“, or anything like that.
He did something like that with Morty, but it would be cool to be seen again!
Some scammers, often on cold calls, ask if you are over 18. I think this is because weaselling around the legal ramifications of scamming a minor are way trickier and/or they probably wouldn't have a bank account (or at least one with significant funds) anyway. I like the idea though. At best, there can be some time wasting and funny lines (and voice acting) while pawning off the scammer to the email/s of "mom" or "dad". At worst, the scammer drops it as soon as it's clear it's a kid.
Marco yes- i was thinking that he probably wouldn’t get much out of the scammer while pretending to be a small kid, since the scammer would give up right away. Well, it might be worth a try though lol
@@passerby9281 Maybe a wrinkle on it would be that he's like a henpecked husband who has to ask his wife before he does literally anything...then, at some point, the wife drops in on the email conversation to blow it all up

Ok but the "John" coverup was actually more clever than I'd expect from a scammer. If I'd heard it in a less suspicious context I'd believe it's an actual expression
We literally regularly use the name John Smith to refer to a generic man
I actually think the ‘scammer’ may actually be a potential troll, and not an actual scammer. He wasted ungodly amounts of time handcrafting replies, his English was really good, and the ‘how the who is who are made’ thing is almost too hilarious to be a genuine mistake, it doesn’t even sound REMOTELY like a sentence, it sounds like it was done on purpose for comedic purposes! Bear Grills this coincides with the fact that the scammer even bothered to put dots on naive
I believe there have been several African countries colonized by the French, like Rwanda.
There are a few things in the Engrish of Atomic Shrimp's scammer that would signal they come from the French speaking parts of Africa.
"Is it that you doesn't understand English" is a very French construction.
In times when they say "United Nation" or "United State" they're often being used as adjectives, such as "United State Financial Crime Network". That could be because they learned that adjectives must not be declined in English (e.g. Les chats bleus, instead of bleu), so they could maybe be instinctively removing the plural because of that.

I believe I commented something along these lines on another one of your scambaiting videos, but I've noticed that quite a few of these scammers invoke religious language, possibly to make them seem trustworthy to vulnerable religious people. I would love to see what would happen if you played the part of a militant atheist or member of a different religion and derailed the conversation by making it about religion.
I also wondered what happens if you invoke images that are offensive to religious people but you'd need to know he scammers religion and what they hold sacred first. (For that US american evangelical it might be abortions or evolution.)

It is surprising how well the scammer speaks English, given scammer standards. With few mistakes here and there, it is entirely understandable.
Yes, the scammer here has a mastery of the English language (the only *real* mistake was his repeated use of "between you and I" - something which many low-class native speakers also say, however). @@alexmuenster2102 "You and I" is actually the official way of saying it - look it up. "You and me" is the unofficial way.
@@CST1992 Incorrect! It depends upon the grammatical CASE. In the Dative Case (governed by such prepositions as "between" or "to") or Accusative Case, it MUST be "you and me." You are definitely my favorite content creator, from scam baiting to melting plastic into bowls, to trying weird food. I love your channel, mate. Fantastic Jason Statham voice for Merton by the way!

Not all scammers are Indian how about doing research and not being a close minded raciest. The way you are talking about them makes you sound just as bad. I expect a logical reply to why you said a raciest thing. And take my advise don't keep me waiting long. Good day
@@ShadowClawWolf you're not wrong, its half Indian, half Nigerian princes.
@@ShadowClawWolf why are you so upset about this?
@@jayw4740 I get sooo many spam texts and calls from Jamaica
@@jayw4740 There are scammers from other places besides Niggeria Princess and Indiana
This is probably your best effort I've seen yet! (half way through your videos) you got so many custom non-template replies and the amount of times you got the scammer to type 'Monica Flange' was hilarious. It's a good job none of these scammers are English or they'd know something was up right away haha.
This is like one of those theatre pieces where they throw a new character at you with every new scene and you as viewer lose track of what is happening.
It is glorious.
I'm sorry, but this occasion calls for a dead meme:
Most people: Infinity War is the most ambitious crossover in history.
Atomic Shrimp:
The meme is dead? Afaik it's very much alive, overused and rarely well 😅
The endgame will be with little Morty as an addition and much more personal.
John BarosaWarosa is definitely the best character of the anime so far
I love the South London mobster accent 😂
This has got to be the best one yet! I love the voices you did for all the different characters, and the storyline is absolutely amazing. You could be a professional voice actor.
This scammer had a good vocabulary, maintained contextual relevance of what he was saying, and was grammatically better than majority of the others I've seen.
the line about a Hatton Garden job gives me the perfect Image of what Merton is like ^^
Absolutely love this Merton character. That threat at 11:09 was, by far, my favourite part.
This was one of the best ones yet! The whole concept and execution is just fantastic.
i cant help but pause whenever you sent a reply to the scammer. not because i needed to read them, but to gather enough courage to hear what they'll say without getting second-hand embarrassment. it can took me about 5-30 seconds depending on how cornered the scammer is, but it has happened to me everytime i watch your videos lol
My all time favourite episode. Love the cross over with scam baiters! Surely more delegation is needed in future episodes? :)
Okay, I absolutely *ADORE* how you keep confusing the scammer by adding upon more and more different users and accounts (All yours) with each talking to him separately and him having to respond to them all individually. It's like when shows introduce *FAR TOO MANY* side characters that each only have one or two lines all throughout, and I absolutely ADORE it!
Litres per minute?!
You're an absolute savage 😂😂😂
I love how the scammer stands up for Manuel
Appreciate all the videos you have been putting out during this interesting time to say the least.
The Backstreet Boys Reunion Tour has certainly been a wild ride.
The way you have replicated how delegation works (doesn't) in corporate.... Just mwaah monsieur 🤗🤗
The way you actually got them scared by saying that the last person to call him scared didn't get a chance to say it a second time... Holy crap, that's amazing Godfather-tier trolling. Kudos, I'll be sure to try that one in my own scambaiting.
I'm convinced Merton is just retired Jason Statham.
He is epic 🤣🤣!!!
Teacher: the test isn’t that complicated
The test:
Literally about two weeks ago, I thought, what if all of the scammers he's ever dealt with are just his fans trying to make into one of his videos?
Wouldn't that be scambaiting the scambaiter?
@@jvccr7533 **Illuminati music starts playing in the background**
It’s impressive to have a scammer telling you by the end of the conversation that he actually needs none of your details and will be sending you money free of charge by his own accord
YES!!! The voices were everything we didn't know we needed thank you! I love your scambaiting videos and like many other types of content you post. And love that you post so much variety, that way many more can enjoy seperate parts of your channel!
